Main entrées feature chicken, pork, and beef, such as marinated short ribs with traditional vegetable rice porridge. Ttowa’s Kimbop Bar integrates Korean flavors.
We shared the combo buns and rice cakes as appetizers then ordered kalbi, bulgogi, grilled chicked, bi bim bap for entrees and lemon custard fried buns for desert. Everything was delicious. The owner really likes to share information about the Korean culture and food with his guests. Enjoy some cold soju to start your meal off.
I haven’t dined here in several years. I ordered Bibimbop and my friend ordered Kimchee jigae. Bibimbop was tasty and came with creamy sauce as well as the traditional gochujang sauce. Wish it was accompanied by a bowl of soup. My friend liked her dish. It came in a hot stone bowl so it was sizzling hot.
The only bad thing about this night was that the waiter never checked on us. He was friendly enough but after he dropped off the food, he didn’t return until we were finished. We could have used some more side dishes but perhaps they don’t refill banchan.
Very good food & nice ambiance. The food was kinda pricey & the service was good but not great
Excellent Korean food with exceptional flavor. The buns are remarkable and the bibmbop is second to none in the stone bowl.
We went to dinner at 4:30 on New Years Eve at Ttowa. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We come here a few times a year for lunch and have always been satisfied and this visit was no exception. The food was very good—I had a seafood and pork with noodles in a spicy broth, another had Dak Kalbi, a fire-roasted chicken dish and the third person in our party had noodles with soft tofu in a spicy broth. The service was very professional and helpful despite the large crowd and were sold out for the rest of the evening. They did not have a couple of appetizers we wanted to order. The waitress explained they had been very busy the night before and ran out of some items. We did order other appetizers which everyone enjoyed. Ttowa is a very small restaurant and the staff did their best to wait on us and other customers while the restaurant was full. I did not feel rushed at all and appreciated our server’s attention to detail. I will be back again for dinner.
Super great mandoo & over the top grilled chicken in addition to tge usual stellar entrees
Food is excellent.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. I hate to make it too popular of a place or I will only be able to get carry-out! Seriously, the dishes are spectacular and fresh. The wine list is simple but good. It is an excellent Korean restaurant.
Ttowa might be my favorite restaurant in Arlington Heights. The food is amazing, the owner is the nicest guy ever. He is always willing explain things so this is a great place to introduce people to Korean food. Everything on the menu is great and is great value. The one downside is that on nights when it gets very, very busy they can sometimes run out of things on the menu. Like the buns especially. With everything else being so good, it is not a deal breaker, but if you definitely want a specific item going earlier or for lunch would be a great idea.
Highly recommended. Great for dates and for families. I have taken my young child there and she loves it.
Always delicious and fresh ingredients. Great beer choices too
Our tradition for the last several years has been to dine at Ttowa. We bring the whole family and always enjoy the food and welcoming atmosphere. Fantastic place.
They never disappoint! Food is delicious!
The food was fine - but service lacked. We were told they ran out of menus so the group of us had to share - the restaurant wasn't even full - shouldn't you have enough menus for the seats within your restaurant? Service was also very slow in the beginning and then we felt like we were being rushed while we were eating our appetizers to make decisions about the entree. Also all four of us that were at the table were served our entrees at different times even though we ordered together. The first came out while the appetizer was still on the table and the last was served probably 20 minutes later. Also they ran out of cooked rice so we had to wait for rice to be cooked - but they still served our meat portion. We also had to request several times for them to refill the side dishes and even when we asked for specific ones - they Brought out whatever appeared to be sitting there.
Waited an hour past our reservation.
Great service and food!
This place has amazing food and the staff are fantastic. It just always seems to be understaffed. They do the best they can.
Always reliable and delicious. Great food, good beer selection.
Great place to try for this type of food. Food was good. Food was hot. Service was just ok. Our appetizer came at the same time as our meal and there was no apology or Comp for it. Also there was a loud group behind us but I understand that’s not within their control. We will be back.
Great food and super service. Will definitely be going back.
Understaffed, dirty tables everywhere, a little rude. Food ok, I was hoping for great Korean food closer to home. In short disappointed.
I really wanted to like it, because service was so friendly. But the food for me was lacking. Nothing stood out. Or was amazing. Portions is on smaller side. Pricing is high. Much prefer to spend money on Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ-different and delicious! Generous portions. They also serve small side dishes - I particularly liked the potato salad
The food was amazing. However service was terrible. Waited a long time for someone to come over and ask us about drinks. So when someone finally came over we ordered drinks and food. Food came out relatively quick, but then never saw our waiter again unless we flagged him down. No asking if we wanted more drinks, more food, it was shame because the food is so good.
Nice to have a Korean dining experience in the NW suburbs. A wonderful change of pace. Food was excellent and service was great. The side of potato salad was unusual and delicious.
Loved the food and our server I think ms. Choi?
Very warm though probably due to hot stone bowls.
Will definitely come back.
Always great food!
Food was really delicious, dak buns are a good starter. Lots of craft beer selections too, service staff was extremely nice and welcoming
I love bringing people here and surprising them with how delicious it is. The food is always outstanding and the service is exceptional. Terry and Zach know how to do it all right!
This is one of our favorite places to eat - love the food and the service is always great!
I love this place. Everything I have there is wonderful. Terry is a delight and so is the other OG server who's been there for years. My boyfriend and I call their Dak Bokki "destination chicken". It's that good.
Disappointed they were completely out of the buns...that is what they are known for.
We have lived in Arlington Heights a long time and had never tried this gem! The food was excellent - we had the smoked duck and smoke bowl, and it was almost too much food for the 2 of us. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night and we were glad to have reservations. The only thing that might have made our experience even better would have been if the server had explained the menu a little better to us as this was our first experience with Korean food. We will definitely be back!
My favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. The food is amazing and the service is very personable. Great craft beer selection. The servers are very helpful if you are new to Korean food. Highly recommend for lunch and dinner.
We love Ttowa. Our go-to menu items are Bulgogi, Dak kalbi and Jja Jang Myun...all delicious and of course the dak buns. Probably more choices that are good, but we hate to not order our three!
Took the recommendation of duck for dinner and it was amazing. Never been disappointed by anything on the menu.
This place was so amazing. Food was delicious and waiters were so helpful. Portions were huge and so yummy. I can’t wait to go back. One of our new favorite places on the suburbs!
Great service, good food and sides. The menu offers a variety of selections so that everyone in our party could share and enjoy a few different tastes. The dumplings were great starter as well.
We've been to Ttowa numerous times and are never disappointed! The service is outstanding, the food is amazing! The size of the restaurant is small, which is an asset but I recommend reservations. I have not tried anything that I did not love. Great options for vegetarian/vegans. The flavors are unique. The belly buns are to die for. A friendly, neighborhood venue that is always welcoming.
This is our favorite special occasion restaurant! The food is always delicious and the drink selection fabulous!
