Tsuru Japanese Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
Food was great and we go here frequently. This evening we came in around 730 so ended our meal around 9 o’clock. We were the last customers there and felt like they were trying to push it out to close. Although we ignored them we felt a bit pressured to leave.
Love the sushi here, only problem is that whenever you order any sort of soft drink, they are always in a rush to pour out the entire can into your glass even if you don't want it all poured out. The last time we went I had to guard the can but saw three people anxiously eyeing it. I wish they would just leave the drinks alone.
We were there for the birthday celebration (adult, not for kid), and has mentioned that in our reservation. But there was no special greetings or mentioning by the servers or manager at all. Of course, there was no small birthday cake, candles, or anything special. It was just like no special occasion at all. We were very disappointed with the service.
This truly 'neighborhood' sushi place surprised me with their quality of service AND fresh and original ingredients, last Friday! Despite being the ONLY Japanese/sushi place this side of town, Tsuru is still sincerely living up to their high reviews! The service was excellent - we didn't want to be bothered, yet when our tea was nearly finished, the waitress was right there with a fresh pot - good job, Tina! The order came very quickly and, although it wasn't anything extraordinary in presentation, we truly enjoyed savouring this undoubtedly fresh food! If after a few months of coming here, to satisfy our spicy sushi craving, Tsuru is still trying hard to deliver quality experience, they've honestly earned my devotion and FIVE STAR review! P.s. dinner for two BIG sushi lovers was $38! How can one NOT leave a generous tip?! Origgatto!
This was our first time at Tsuru. My wife and I don't eat Japanese/sushi often because she doesn't care for fish, but I've been wanting to come to sushi for a while.
Tsuru was very good. My wife ordered a combination of sorts that seemed like a deconstructed fried rice, but the rice was steamed. It was delicious! I had the sushi/sashimi for two and struggled to eat it all. The platter was presented beautifully and the sushi/sashimi was very good quality.
My wife really liked Tsuru, I definitely liked the restaurant... We will be back... FYI, Tsuru is a byob.
Terrible service! I still can't believe how bad it was. From the second we sat down the waitress was ready to get us out of there. The place was half empty but my family and I felt that they wanted us out the second we got there. She didn't even let us open our Menus before she asked if we were ready to order. She then kept taking our plates away while we still were chewing the last bite. The food wasn't even fresh. We won't be going back again.
I am a avid sushi buff. The sushi is prepared so beautiful. The say we eat with our eyes as well and here it worked. Fresh fish and great presentation. Service was impeccable. The only drawback I had was the sashimi was cut a little thicker than I am use to , but I can live with that. Great meal and will return.
Best presentation of sushi I have ever seen and we have eaten sushi at lots of places throughout the world. The taste was good and fresh but not the best flavor combinations that I have ever had. Service was good. Companions had chicken fried rice and they all said it was excellent as were the salads. Would definitely go back if in the area.
Always a great place for some sushi! When you arrive you are greeted with a friendly smile as well as your server. We had the Sushi/Sashimi for two and the presentation was awesome. It can be a bit noisy so I would not consider this a romantic dinner out but if you want GREAT Sushi you have the right spot.
