Made an open table reservation for my birthday, just me and the husband. It took a while for the hostess to seat us and got an email immediately from open table that I no-showed although I told the hostess that I had an open table reservation. She was also supposed to tell us before seating us that their liquor license has been suspended, which given the special occasion would have been a deal breaker and we would have gone elsewhere. Our waitress was very good and apologetic and got me a free birthday dessert. Sushi was ok, but not worth the price, comparable sushi is available all over for 50% off rolls. The place was a mess despite many people working there didn't seem to be any bussers. The tables were left a mess all over the restaurant, meanwhile there were 2 hostesses at the front standing around watching TV. Won't be back.
The food has always been good here, but the resent policy change on "no reservations" is a big problem for me. Also I recently tried to make a reservation for a large group and they wanted a price gouging $1500 dollar deposit for 25 people and they said if we didn't spend that much they'd just keep the rest. What? That is just crazy. Obviously they have more business than they need so I might just have to find a new fav for sushi.
LOVE Tsunami. Probably our favorite place to have sushi!! :)
Valentine’s Day with my girl was fantastic because Tsunami is her favorite! Service was solid, food was stellar, but the wait time was pretty bad even though we had a reservation. Took about 30 min to be seated after our original reservation time. Besides that, everything else was fantastic!
Everything they serve they do extremely well -- soup, salad, sushi, steak, drinks. Service and environment also outstanding.
They treat you like royalty no matter how busy it is, excellent choices for anyone, both sushi and cooked meat & fish.
We were super disappointed with our waitress. She completely ignored us and pretty much only took our order.(after waiting for a while) We had to wait for almost 10 minutes to get our drinks refilled and it was a lady who was cleaning off tables who noticed and filled our glasses (thank you Jazmin!) the thing is it was not even busy at all! She probably had 4 tables and was just distracted with other things and seemed to be in no hurry
It was our valentines date but it kind of sucked because it was such a negative experience. We always go to the one in fort union because I think the food is better than others but we will try somewhere else after this.
Love love love this place. Second time going and the food is amazing. Can’t get enough of the Korean boneless short ribs! To die for. Also love the dinner combination of shrimp tempura and top sirloin steak! So good. Our waiter was fantastic as well. Wish I could remember his name to give a shout out. But he was awesome. We’ll definitely make it back!
Excellent food for a very reasonable price. Sushi was outstanding, Udon very flavorful, and the lunch box's are an excellent value. I highly recommend getting the edamame, your mouth with thank you!
I usually love Tsunami, but last week the service was pretty sub-par.
Keaton was amazing. Very knowledgeable and professional. He made the dining experience fun! Great food. A bit expensive but nice treat.
Food and service were great we were seated quickly however in a poor place in the middle of everything which made trying to have a date annoying
Excellent food and service as usual - only small feedback is that on 3 of our recent 6 visits there hasn’t been enough hot water to make green tea. Come on guys - buy an extra kettle or two.
Overall the experience was what we have enjoyed in every location over the years. We rarely eat japanese quisine any where else. The one aspect that bothers us is the choice of music. Instead of relaxing japanese music which would enhance and complete the experience, there is raucus and unpleasant loud modern pop and rock.
Awesome place. We go a few times per year and always for our anniversary.
very good at trying to meet dietary needs and allergies. Need more items without msg.
Best Japanese food in town. One of our favorites for just about any occasion.
We go to Tsunami every Sunday evening. It is a wonderful way to reconnect and end our weeks.
Great food and a lot of menu items. Service was good and our server was prompt and had a good personality. We took our own wine in and the corkage was only $5. A nice place to go after catching a movie at the theater within a real short walk. We have been there several times and will continue to go there in the future.
The atmosphere was nice, relaxed, and welcoming. The service was phenomenal as was the food. I would definitely recommend Tsunami to my friends or anyone looking for some good Japanese food.
Had a great time!
Tsunami is a great go-to spot. Food is always consistent and good.
Service is always friendly and accommodating.
Best sushi in Sandy, and the Union Heights restaurant is the best is the bunch.
We enjoy Tsunami often
If you are local amd eat sushi, enroll in the Tsunami club for points and other swag.
Food and service were OK - not exceptional but okay. Used to be much fresher and better but still going when in the area and not real hungry
Food here is #1. If you let them know your special dietary needs they can adjust the food to fit you. We are vegan and when we ordered the tempura vegetables she said she would make sure they gave us the vegan dipping sauce. I hadn't realized there was a difference and appreciated it. They also removed the cream cheese from one of the rolls I had to make it vegan. Always fresh and always good. Chelsea is a fabulous server as well!
I was really looking forward to dinner here with my boyfriend and some friends. We were seated right away as I had made a reservation. The only thing I really wanted was something with AHI Tuna. NO AHI TUNA that night.....found that a little odd at a sushi restaurant. Anyway. We will be back but I will make a quick call first to see if they have the menu item I really like. Service was slow, but we did not mind. We did not feel rushed to leave our table. It is spendy....however if you want a nice sushi bar. You should check them out!
Every Sunday night we go to here. It's the end of a weekend. I don't want to cook. I get a date with my husband. Great food. Great service. Make a standing reservation using Open Table. Simple and perfect.
I really liked the food experience, I had the Sunshine roll and it was to die for. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The only thing I did not like was that the table that they gave me was right by the kitchen door and while I waited for my friend I could hear the people in the back talking very loudly. I asked them to move me to another table and they did. So that was great!
I LOVE Tsunami in Union Heights! The sushi and food is always amazing, their cheesecake is the best, and hands down it's one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Utah! Wonderful staff too! Everyone is always so nice, and service is great!
We went for lunch and sat at the bar. We went with what was recommended abd loved it!!
Robyn was a fantastic server she took very good care of us
With my son
Sometimes this restaurant can be loud and very noisy. We were sat in a booth out of the way so the noise level was tolerable. I highly suggest getting a reservation though because this place is always busy. The food and service is always great!
Way TOO loud in the restaurant!! The service wasn't great either!
Excellent sushi. Our only issue is we asked 3 times for our green tea to be refilled. She forgot every time. Otherwise great recommendations for different sushi.
This is our favorite place to eat. We LOVE the Dynamite Scallops that we can still order even though it isn't on the menu. They always have interesting specials as well as many many good choices of sushi and other items if sushi isn't your thing.
They have a frequent diner card which is great because we go often.
We enjoy Tsunami about once a month. The executive sushi roll is yummy with lime. The salmon teriyaki is super good just make sure you ask for additional glaze, it seems like you need to request it. I highly recommend RSVP in advance they also have Valet
Fantastic quality sushi. We never feel heavy after leaving. This is the best location, for sure. We drive from Sugarhouse to eat here & it is worth it!
The noise level was so loud - other guests talking very loud -made it impossible to have a conversation with our friends at our table. We had to shout. Food this time was only ok. Had better food here for lunch a few months ago.
