Several of the sushi items were the best and freshest my companion and I had ever had! Great service.
The food and waitstaff here were great! The atmosphere felt a little clubby for us with the loud house music. I get how old that makes me sound but it was intense. Also the table where we sat was pretty drafty as we were right in front of the door. We would have asked to move if there was a different table available. The bench seats on the wall looked cozy. The fish was fresh though, and that’s really the only reason why we were there!
The food was good and the staff one of the best I’ve encountered but music was too loud. They did respond to turning it down when asked so that was good.
Best bar tender Mauricio and our waitress Emilie !! Made our date night!! Thank you!
As noisy as a sport bar. More expensive than average. Sitting places are not all comfortable. Best spot is small table for 2 on the right near to the entrance, only place where you can have a conversation.
Food is good but overpriced
Awesome place! Great food, excellent service, would absolutely go again!
We sat at the sushi bar and ended up getting the head sushi chef. He made us delicious sushi and recommended based on fish quality. He was also very accommodating with our allergies (celiac). The waitresses were also very knowledgeable on the sake and Japanese whiskey.
The miso soup was the best we have ever had! Excellent sashimi & special rolls! Everything was delicious 😋. Huge saki menu. Excellent service too.
Happy Hour before 7 on a ton of their menu items (half off!) we went for a later dinner when our friend were visiting SF. The food was SO good, the server was great, and the atmosphere is really nice - casual/chic!
We had a fantastic experience. The fish was so fresh and the service was incredible. Wonderful meal!
The service was great and the food was good. My only problem with this place is the noise. It's less of an energy problem and more of an acoustic problem.
Our waitress was really great, had great recommendations and served us with a genuine smile. The Omakase was mostly excellent and so was the roll and hot sake we tried.
A fun, hip neighborhood sushi joint. Very good, friendly service. They have creative sushi offerings which were interesting and different but found the traditional offerings to be better overall. I'd go back but would stick to the basics. Great sake list.
Wow. Everything was utterly delicious, and the service was first rate. Our only critique: the piped-in music was so loud that we strained to hear our own conversation.
I love this sushi restaurant and it is wonderful for a date night. It has a chill sorta intamate vibe with dark lighting and incredible staff. By far my favorite (nicer) sushi restaurant in the city!!
Wonderful sushi - our favorite!
The food and service is very good but the seating arrangement is pretty bad unless you sit at the couch like dining tables that look more like hotel foyer coffee chairs and tables. There is limited arrangement in the interior design to avoid noise reduction so it is hard to eat and chat. If the owners wanted you to eat quickly and get out, they have been successful
Overwhelming, amazing. Great value, and high quality. If i lived in SF, I would try to go here as much as possible.
One of the best sushi places in SF
Decent Japanese restaurant. Great selection of whiskey. Fun place, with decent sushi.
Tsunami is very hip - great music, looks great, etc. Their prices are a bit over the top. All of there beers are $11-14, sake is $20/glass, and standard sushi rolls have fancy names/descriptions and are $5 more than they should be. That being said, the food is very good and the restaurant looks great.
Sat at the bar and had amazing service and food recommendations. Noise level was a bit loud yet the wonderful space and tasty rolls well make up for it!
Fun lively meal with great service an delicious food. Loved the Magnum sake!
Very nice, prompt service
Happy hour sake was inexpensive, good, served in large portions
Fish was relatively low quality (poor texture, color)
Tempura over-battered and greasy
Cucumber salad flavorless
Unsolicited complimentary mochi was good
The best sushi restaurant...ever. Great food, great ambiance!
Excellent service and fresh, Awmagawd to the omakase
A superb dinner at Tsunami. It is worth the extra price for such exceptional quality. The chef's choices and daily specials are delicious, and every bite was more than memorable. We sat at a large communal table, and felt we had enough space and privacy to carry on a conversation. I absolutely recommend Tsunami as a San Francisco landmark for sushi. Trendy, beautiful ambiance, stellar service, and memorable.
Inventive Japanese. Hip and cool atmosphere . Great service .
Great atmosphere. The staff were amazing and even brought us a free dessert! The happy hour menu was great value and the food was great quality and very tasty.
Food was incredible. Atmosphere was great. When choosing this place, the reviews helped put tremendous and were spot on. Extremely friendly staff. Carolyn was fantastic! Very attentive and knew the menu extremely well.
Our server wS VERY GOOD AND made the experience. The food was very good and the timing between plates was just about right.
Favorite place in the city for sushi. The papa san roll is to die for!
Incredible service. Great food. It was a good night.
Sake and Japanese whiskey if you want a good education and innovative sushi rolls
Fun neighborhood sushi! The service was excellent. We tried lots of things cooked and Raw. Some things were excellent others ok. The miso soup was very different, didn't care for the flavor. They took back and removed from the bill. The calamari was over cooked and unseasoned. Also returned and removed. Chefs sushi and sashimi were awesome! Loved the spicy California roll with yellowtail and jalapeño.
I would come back here!
The servers and host are genuine and lovely. They made our experience great!
Very good sushi, never disappoints in beverages, service, or food. We love taking visiting friends or family here as it's always a pleasurable experience.
I LOVE Tsunami and Victoria is the best manager ever. She is always friendly, kind, and makes the experience awesome.
Phenomenal start to finish! Our server, Quincy, was the absolute bomb!
The waitress came onto my spouse. We both laughed about it later at drinks with our friends. Otherwise it was peachy.
