About Tsunami - Mission Bay
Tsunami Mission Bay located at the corner of 4th & Berry provides a young, hip and exciting restaurant experience. Tsunami Mission Bay combines the best of both - Nihon and Tsunami Panhandle - using Nihon's extensive selection of spirits; and incorporating the culinary influence from Tsunami Panhandle. An amazing Sake list is also offered.
The design is one of modern yet warm Japanese design through the use of white oak, which is used extensively in Japan, and clean sharp lines. The combination of the spirits and sushi bars in the same line was to allow the guest to watch the making of what they are going to feast and drink, as if watching a play.

Tsunami - Mission Bay Ratings and Reviews
The food really looked good, but unfortunately we left before we got to try it. We had made a reservation, but were seated at the communal table - they did move us, but it took a bit of cajoling to accomplish that. It took well over 15 minutes for our server to NOT come back with the taste of wine we had asked for. And that server seemed almost offended that we were not interested in Sake. I'm not sure why we chose sushi before a concert at ATT, but we had a much better time at Tres.
I would try this one again, though. The food looked really good!
Meh. Wasn’t that special. Food was super overpriced and the fish wasn’t amazing. I don’t know how fresh fish is around the Bay Area (I assume it’s pretty fresh) but the sushi places I go to in OC are way more fresh. Maybe it’s because I know the best places around there, or maybe this place is just not that great... I don’t know. I went to this place because OpenTable said it was cheap... not using OpenTable for that kind of think again. Don’t trust pricing on OpenTable... use Yelp or something.
Overall, the experience was disappointing. We've been to Tsunami Panhandle many times. It was our first date and we ate the night we got engaged. But The Mission Bay Tsunami was disappointing. The service was just okay and we were both put off by the waitress.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Tsunami Mission Bay. There are better sushi places in San Francisco. Tsunami Panhandle for one.
Great selection of Japanese Whisky for the Bay Area but you'll pay dearly for the "good" stuff. The selection of fish was better than a "typical" Japanese restaurant. Ambiance is good - sleek & modern. The service is very good. Check the menu, it is limited.
The sushi was ok, but overpriced. The execution on the rolls was lacking, again for the price point. The internal decor was good but the ambiance cannot make up for its corner location. With big tall floor to ceiling windows the traffic outside is distracting.
This was one of the best dining experience I ever had. Food is great, staff is super friendly and the ambiance is cozy and casual. Our waiter, Jason, is super friendly and cares about his clients - the overall experience was great and we felt like locals. Definitely my new favorite sushi place!
Aside from the fresh sushi, delicious sushi creations & notable sake list, our waitress Gretchen made the experience truly memorable. She helped my gfs pick the perfect sake for all of them. She offered many sake tastings along with complimentary dessert. She was so fun & highlighted the great experience at Tsunami. We will be back!! Can't wait!
This is the 4th time we have eaten here - has been better before - service was very non attentive - altho the palace was not busy had to ask several times for things we ordered - given the choices for sushi in the City if it were not for the Happy Hour specials would not return.
Order small order of albacore sashimi for $8 dollars got small order as I order but my bill came $14 dollars got overcharged I waited to see if the hostess was going to corrected she never did not fair
Food portions was very small for the price my bill came to $160 dollars for 2 people Including tip I was still hungry and had to go out a grab something else
Not a place I will go or recommend anyone I will also write my review in Yelp thanks
Wanted a restaurant close to the AT&T parking lot that had more than bar food, sandwiches or Pizza. We had no experience with Asian Fusion before and the waiter was extremely helpful. The food was delicious, moderately priced, and it was a great place to start the evening.
