Tsukuro Ratings and Reviews
I was really surprised this place wasn't more packed! The burgers (I know you weren't expecting that) were out of this world. Their fresh seafood and sushi selection was amazing. We love tapas so the small plates were awesome, we tried a little bit of everything and it was so delish! We even tried all 3 desserts (there were 3 of us) INSANE! I recommend this place to everyone, and being on the beach is an added bonus.
Disappointing Valentine's Day dinner from the beginning to the end.
Starting with the hostess, she was not friendly didn't welcome us, I asked an outside table, she said wasn't sure if she could give us one because they were pretty much booked, but there was lots of empty tables outside without any reservation notes. Also during the whole time we was there it was still many empty tables, so what she said wasn't truth.
The waiter helped us was horrible, made lots of mistakes in our order, we have to return orders twice and was still wrong but we gave up...
The cocktail I ordered was nasty, I asked it to re make it and still not good.
I previously been at this place 3 times and was ok, not wonderful but ok, now it's terrible.
Waiter gave 10% off to made up all his mistakes but I didn't care since our dinner experience was totally ruined already a 10% wouldn't make a difference... when we left hostess still unfriendly, didn't thank us or apologize or anything.
I will never comeback again
I was disappointed when I arrived. I think the place was not kept up that well and there was stuff all over the bar. We weren't given any menus when we were seated and the waitress came over to ask for or our order. We suggested it might be easier to order if we had menus. The food came out relatively fast and was decent. I had a shrimp Temporel roll, the dragon roll I believe, and the shrimp had a very hard batter on it (not like a regular tempura) which made it a drastic difference in consistency from the rest of the rice roll. I jabbed the top of my mouth a couple times while I was trying to eat the sushi roll. It is not a good combination of textures. The entrance rugs were absolutely filthy and it just started to look like a trashy beach place rather than the newly modern sushi place that once opened. Bummer.
Great reviews so we gave it a try. Very good sushi especially the spicy tuna and soft shell crab. Drinks are expensive and very good. Service was awful. Nathan our waiter had the personality of a tree and disappeared on us only to check in when all of our drinks were empty. Twice! The guy had stones to circle the tip box when giving us the check even though gratuity was already included. We won't be back.
Stopped in because it was close to our hotel while we were in town, and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the menu. A lot of great, unique items including tapas, sashimi, specialty rolls, and full entrees. Great variety- definitely something for everyone here, even if you don't eat sushi or fish! I also noticed a lot of vegetarian options. The Venetian roll with the charred mozzarella was unique and delicious, and the mango roll was a surprisingly sweet roll with a lot of flavor! All the sushi we had was very fresh. Crab cakes were meh- a little on the mushy side...would be improved with more lump crab meat inside. The aioli dip for them had little flavor beyond the dollop of sriracha on top (it just seemed like a drop of mayo, no flavor). Cherry Blossom drink was like springtime in a glass- love the lychee addition! Good variety on the dessert menu, I recall 5+ options there. The pineapple coconut cake tasted fresh and homemade. Service was OK...average. Waitress seemed very distracted/busy, but the restaurant only had about 10 tables and a lot of staff working. Nice beachside location and close walking distance to other bars- great patio area for some very entertaining people watching! Definitely not just for sushi-lovers, will be back next time we're in town!
We had a huge reservation and they couldn't accommodate in one table as reserved. Not a huge deal. Food was good, but pricey (especially for Fort Lauderdale). The server was good but overburdened so didn't come by too often. Given the size of the party we brought on Farley short notice, if give the overall experience a B+.
Note: some portions were ridiculously puny (especially apps) while others were enormous and great values. Make sure to ask your server, if that matters to you.
Great location looking at the ocean!!
Menu has changed. Less choice but decent variety. Fried rice better than Chinese restaurant, wings better quality than a wing place, but Skirt steak seemed to be cut up end pieces with a lot of mushrooms mixed in. Nice staff. Great seating for outdoor people watching or indoors if weather inclement.
We ordered the lobster roll, $20. We received a roll with crab salad on top. No lobster to be found on the roll. Our server was occupied so we asked another server who insisted we had the right roll. If it was correct, the description did not match what we received.
Came here for a girl friends birthday and asked for a quiet booth and ordered chocolate cake with Happy Birthday written on it. Upon arrival the hostess had not even checked open table. She pointed to the reservations and I pointed to my name and she said that they would take care. We were seated by the service bar which all the servers were congregated at so we asked to move, then we ordered and the food was good, the server brought the dessert menu I was confused and said I already ordered chocolate cake. Later they brought the cake no happy birthday written and no one even wished her happy birthday. We were both very disappointed. Only saving grace the food was good but unfortunately doesn't out shine the complete lack of service. If I could give a negative service rating it would get negative 5 stars. Definitely won't be back.
A place for desperate singles to look for each other - this place is more of a low end nightclub than a restaurant. Sushi preparation took over 40 mins. I asked if they could turn down the music, but was ignored. We had a spill of wine at our table and staff did not even help to clean up, two waiters watched as my wife and I moved plates off the table, wiped up spill, asked for more towels. They included a 15% service charge and said that was because the location is across from the beach. I went to a restaurant the next night that was also across street from the beach a few blocks down and there was no 15% service charge - they lied about this!
The food was amazing here. It comes out as it is ready so you get each dish one at a time. We got a few dishes and sushi rolls to share and wanted more when we were done even though we were full! Everything was great, our favorite was the tropical ceviche which was very fresh tasting. The outdoor seating was very nice, but we were right next to a very bright t shirt store with music on. I would have preferred to sit out on the patio instead of the deck, but I also forgot about it once our food came! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes sushi and Asian small plates. They have a very nice variety.
Was looking for a dinner stop before hitting Elbo Room and came across Tsukuro. Best Yellowtail I've had in forever. Great recommendations from the waiter and fabulous atmosphere. Right on the strip and great for people watching as well. Not too loud except for the occasional motorcycle rolling through. Great prices and great food. Liked it so much it was dinner for 2 more nights. Definitely a stop every trip to Lauderdale now.
We worked with our server Jonathan B to decide which small plates and which rolls we would order. Jonathan was most helpful. The result was the best meal so far in 2015. An explision of flavors, somedelicate others fierce! I highle recomend this restaurant. And you must have the brussel sprouts!
