Service was excellent!
The special pork belly tacos were great.
Always a favorite of ours - they never cease to be really good! All six of us enjoyed our meals and the appetizers were great. The thing I always appreciate is that they cook the medium rare salmon perfectly medium rare, and the salmon is consistently good (and amazing with the kale and brussel sprout salad which they do light on the dressing perfectly.) It's a pet peeve of mine when I say "light on the dressing" that some places then put it on the side. It's not the same as having it mixed in the kitchen so it's evenly coated when it comes on the side, and Tryst knows how to avoid that problem. Would highly recommend - service is always friendly and efficient as well. Plus fun cocktails and wine.
The food was spectacular, our waiter was really knowledgeable and friendly.
We went for brunch on Mothers Day. The only option was the $28 prix fixe which was OK for two courses but some of us only wanted one course. The food was good and plentiful and the service was friendly. There were a lot of small children, which was to be expected and we were fine with that.
Apart from the lack of flexibilty, we had two issues with the cost, which was high for a brunch. First, there were no concessions for children. Our twelve year old only ate one course and we felt there should have been a lower price. Also, certain $9 alcoholic drinks were included in the cost. Of course, neither of our children drank alcohol, but we did not get a refund on the milk! However, one of us had a bloody mary, which was not one of the included drinks, and we were charged the full $11, rather than the additional $2 more than the included drinks.
Excellent meal from beginning to end. The new decor is a bit spartan but the food and service make up for it.
What a warm welcome we received on our first visit to Tryst. There was quite a variety of items on the short menu. The portions were average size and the price about average for the area. The drinks are a bit pricey.
Birthday celebration. Enjoyed food. A. It noisy, but not overwhelming. Prompt service.
Food was very food, creative, and reasonably priced. It was our first time at the restaurant and we wil definitely go back.
The food was excellent as was the service and atmosphere - we've dined here many times and are always happy with the experience.
Over-priced, average food: everyone's experience was that things sounded better on menu than they actually were. Ingredients listed were either missing or so skimpy as to be un-taste-able. Not bad, but not worth it. Service a bit strange- but cannot generalize based on one wait-person's perhaps off night.
Our first dinner experience here exceeded all expectations. Excellent healthy choices, creative delicious desserts and at a price you can't beat. We had a cozy corner table and we're comfortable with the ambience and staff throught and through. We'll definitely be back!
My girlfriend just moved to Arlington, so we are trying to explore all these intriguing restaurants. We had Tryst on our list and it was a perfect Monday evening last minute date night at the bar wasn't too busy very causal. The bar tender Evan was informative and very happy to be there. The scallops will definitely have me back there.
Always love Tryst - great atmosphere, food and personable service!
I am already planning a return trip to Tryst. The wild mushroom omelet was heavenly. I have been craving it ever since. The home fries were delicious as well...crunchy, but not greasy. And the mimosa had just the right amount of every ingredient. I already told my family to plan a Mother's Day brunch for me there!
Great food great service I will be back again and recommend to others.
Delicious meal. Good drink selection. Superb service. All-in-all, they provided a delightful evening
A group of four of us went to Tryst for a birthday celebration. The experience was mixed.
Pros: its easy to park in Arlington Center, which is great when you are meeting folks from out of town. On a Sunday evening, it was very quiet. The hostess spaced the parties out so it felt very private. It would be cozy if the place was full. The food was very good. Everyone ordered something different and finished their meal. The duck and steak were cooked as requested. The dishes were well flavored. Portions were on the smaller side, but offered a more normal meal that many places serve up.
Cons: the service. I felt like we were inconveniencing our waiter all night. He couldn't be bothered to properly explain the special of the evening. I asked how the salmon was cooked and he mumbled something about how "of course its pan seared." When he was taking things off the table he barely acknowledged we were all sitting there. For drinks its was "you want another?".
All told, there are so many excellent restaurants in the area with good food and good service. Not sure I would bother going back.
Friendly service, good food, all around very decent place to eat in the 'burbs!
Service (Jessica) was fantastic! Food was great, ambience was perfect (didn't have too many people crowded into a small space), loved it!
Enjoyed dining at Tryst for Saturday brunch with friends. Omelet was perfect - neither over nor undercooked, filled with caramelized onions and mushrooms. Served with hash browns and mesclun salad. Delicious! Service was attentive, fabulous. Quiet atmosphere was appropriate for friends' age range which spans three decades. Neither our first time here, not our last. Tryst, thank you!
The brunch is great!
Consistently great food. Good cocktails when you want a change from beer/wine. Easy access.
Great, friendly service and accomodating and understanding of special requests.
The food was fantastic here! The table service was suitable. I was able to get a Saturday night reservation just a few hours before we went for a dinner date. The downside to this experience was the greeting. When we arrived (on time), there was no one to greet us at the door. A greeter did show up, and quickly said that she'd be right with us. More than ten minutes passed before she showed up again, and said again that she'd be right with us. Had the restaurant been swamped, I would have understood, but it was mostly empty. At that point, I was feeling annoyed, and hungry. The hostess was not apologetic or kind. She did, however, finally seat us (in a private area, as we had requested), and all went well from there. Poor hosting, great food!
Have been to this restaurant several times - no bad experiences. Great local spot!
Keeping it short and simple:
Nice wine selection
Could talk without shouting
We'd go back again
Went to Tryst for dinner I'm Sat night with friends. Hadn't been there for dinner in years. It has really gone downhill. Service was terrible. After placing drinks order it took forever for drinks to arrive. Waiter even came by twice and couldn't explain what the holdup was. Once meals were brought out, only two came out. Then 5 mins later ther other two arrived, one with the wrong sides. My meal was tepid at best. Tasted okay, but would have been much better if it had been at least warm. When the food arrived I asked the waiter for the drink menu so I could order a glass of wine. Well, the menu never arrived. At this point we started taking bets as to if the waiter would ever remember. He didn't.
I've had very good lunches and brunches at Tryst in the past and I'd be willing to give that another shot. But never again for dinner.
Lastly, the decor' if you can call it that is aged beige paint on the walls. Quite drab.
A really nice place - always reliable. Great food, they make the salmon perfectly medium-rare!
food is really tasty, and the price is pretty good too.
Best brunch around! We really love this space. The staff is friendly and the menu is amazing.
We were there for a weekend brunch on a snowy Saturday morning. Greeters and waitstaff were extremely pleasant, we were seated immediately. Brunch options were good and food was wonderful. Waiters were available, didn't hover, and gave us plenty of time to sit and chat over our meal. The restaurant is warm and hospitable. I have always enjoy meals here and will return.
Tryst continues to provide a great place in Arlington for upscale but not budget busting dinners out. Our food was amazing (the duck poutine was given a thumbs up by a native Canadian) and the server was very friendly and attentive.
All good, but a little too noisy. Hard to carry on a conversation in a normal tone of voice.
The duck egg rolls were great. Terrific cocktails and top notch service.
Can't wait to go back
Food, bloody mary, excellent. Noise level a bit louder than I'd like, but food great.
Great food and good service. Nice drinks too. I preferred the ambiance before Tryst installed giant TVs, but oh well.
We are regulars at Tryst. And our last experience there reinforced our commitment as regulars. They had a pork chop special. I do not normally order pork chops. But after the waiter's description, I did. Best pork chops I have ever had, a 2nd not even close!
Tryst is reliably very good. The food is well-prepared and the service is nice. It seems to wonder what it is--family place? date place? sports place? I'd ditch the TVs, define the front space a bit better and make it cozier. Very nice to have it in the neighborhood and we enjoyed our brunch very much. Will go back.
Pork belly app, delicious!
