Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Southlake Ratings and Reviews
We've been to the Truluck's in Houston many years ago. We recently moved to the greater DFW area and noticed that there was a Truluck's here, and so we decided to give it a try. Sure enough, same very high quality seafood and good service. It is fairly pricey so be prepared to spends some $$$$.
Reservation Seating Request was NOT taken into consideration.
I requested a table that was placed in a more romantic location of the restaurant. We were celebrating Valentine’s Day. This was book well in advance. Get there for our selected reservation time to be seated at a square table right dab in the middle of the dinning room to the right as you walk in. I was not happy with where we were seated and it felt like just another night out for dinner.
Needless to say it was a big let down and not romantic at all.
Food was delicious ... we got the tuna tartare tower as an appetizer, main meals were the redfish and sea bass and we decided to add the lobster Mac & Cheese...for the finale we decided on the carrot cake...again all the food was delicious.
We are just more disappointed with the lack of care regarding our special seating request which was done way in advance.
We had dinner at Truluck's on Valentine's Day and as always it was a wonderful dinner with phenomenal service. Great service from the moment we walked into the restaurant to the table and when we left. Eric, our waiter, was the best! We will recommend him again! Truluck's never disappoints with their impeccable service and consistently amazing food! Plus, their desserts are the best!
Service started out incredibly strong. However, once the restaurant became busier, service dropped off substantially. The glass of wine that I requested be delivered with my meal arrived when I was over 50% done. We also waited quite a while before dishes were cleaned off the table, and the bill was brought. Fairly disappointed this time with the visit, but I am willing to try again. The restaurant is usually a lot more on the ball--so I'm willing to forgive this once...
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Started with the happy hour which has terrific appetizers and drinks and then went to the restaurant for stone crabs (one of the few places in DFW that has them). Our waiter Austin was everything you would want in a waiter: attentive, engaging, funny, discreet, to the point that while the stone crabs were delicious, Austin was great!
Took my wife for her birthday with friends. I was surprised when the table had little Happy Birthday's on it. I didn't tell the restaurant and none of the other guest thought they had either. The staff was on its toes when a on of our guest asked if the could put birthday gifts to the side. Before we were seated, the staff decorated the table. It was a wonderful surprise. The service was excellent and so was the food.
We love Truluck's for stone crab and South African lobster tail! Occasionally, the stone crab claws are very small and tasteless but this time they were meaty and great! Our server was amazing- unfortunately I forgot her name :(. My only complain is that there were 8 ladies and our table was so long and stretched out that it was difficult to have a group conversation!
Our appetizer and salads were very good.
My main course was good but my wife ordered the Chef’s steak and asked that it would be cooked medium well. Her steak was medium rare.
The waitress returned when I was done with my meal and my wife had eaten all around her steak (where it was cooked more). She had blood juices on her plate (in the mashed potatoes) and the waitress did not even comment on it even after my wife showed her.
She did finally ask if my wife wanted her to cook it longer but by this time my wife had lost her appetite.
We skipped dessert (we normally don’t).
Our first time at Truluck's and it is now a favorite. Best crab cakes we've ever had. We had seared scallops and filet - all cooked to perfection. They have a great wine list as well. The service was impeccable. Austin took excellent care of us and made it a dining experience. The atmosphere is a little noisy in the bar area with great live music. In the dining room, it is quiet and elegant. We will definitely recommend to anyone for a lovely, romantic evening or just a great dining experience.
This was our first visit to Truluck’s and it won’t be our last. In fact if they had availability on Valentines Day we would change our plans that were made months in advance. Every dish we ordered was fantastic and we had a fantastic waiter (John) to boot. Highly recommend.
Everything thing was spectacular. The experience my fiance and I had was just amazing. I give big props to our host AJ. He provided outstanding service and paid close attention to detail to make sure me and my fiance had a wonderful anniversary. The surprise Dessert he had prepped for us was absolutely breath taking. We will be visiting more, also going to bring our friends and relatives to enjoy his service.
Having been to Trulluck's before and not impressed as it was too dark and noisy, we decided to give it another try after about 4 years. Were we surprised that the dining area is now lit perfectly, the noise level was a cozy atmosphere, and the food was excellent. We went for out 25th anniversary to have the stone crab claws. Incredible dining and the drink menu and wine list was awesome. The service was exceptional meeting every demand and ensuring that we were well attended. I will now be going back to Trulluck's and am glad we have a great seafood restaurant in Southlake. Excellent overall.
Our experience was absolutely amazing. The food was top notch along with your section of fine Spirits. David was our server and his customer service was way above bar and his knowledge of the menu and spirits was on point. Thank you so much and look forward to the next visit.
