Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Houston Ratings and Reviews
We are never disappointed in Trulucks. No gimmicks. Not trendy. Consistently excellent food and service in an atmosphere that is refined but not stuffy. Everything is excellent - bread, cocktails, dessert and the filets are the best. We have eaten here for lunch and dinner many times and quality of food and service never varies.
Not impressed. Reserved a table for 3 when we got there the place was half empty but we were seated in a dark corner next to a large table. The food is average yet prices are high. We had to refuse the oysters Rockefeller which turned out to be nothing but spinach. The blackened red fish was returned because it was extra salty. The server seemed rush although the place was half empty. The manager was very attentive and went out of his way to ensure our request were met but even so we have no plan in returning. We can get better service and food else where.
Everything was great except that our table looked directly into the kitchen and waitstaff traffic was high. I suggest you do away with that booth. My food was excellent, but my direct view into the service area diminished the experience considerably. My own kitchen is much more attractive. Our guest was already seated when we arrived. I was very disappointed that you would actually seed your clientele at that location!!
Celebrating an anniversary and Truluck's was a perfect choice. Could not have been better. The bar was great for a before-dinner cocktail. Live piano music set the mood. The seating was excellent along with the service. The food (seafood) was to die for. It was all over the top. Can't wait to return for another special night.
We've eaten here many times in the last few years and it seems that each time the service has gone downhill. We recently had dinner on a Friday evening at Trulucks and the experience was not so good. We were seated promptly but then waited 10 minutes for water. We ordered two glasses of wine which took about 20 minutes to receive after the waiters changed between the water service and our drinks being served. Our new waiter tells us that the bar is backed up. Yes the restaurant was fairly full but didn't seem that it would be a back up issue. After sitting for 40 minutes our waiter finally comes to take our order (we've been ready to order for 15). It takes another 20 minutes for tuna tartare and raw oysters to come out and in the meantime our wineglasses of gone empty and now we've been at the restaurant for an hour. My husband spoke with the manager who then ended up taking care of us most of the night and was nice to offer our drinks complementary due to the poor service. Houston has so many wonderful restaurants that have all things going for them I hate to mark this one off our list but we definitely will not be going back for quite some time.
Took my wife for dinner while on a special date. The food was great (calamari, Sonoma salad, filet, sea bass and dessert sampler) - bread was superb. Everything was perfect.
Service was excellent. Hostess was on the ball - quickly removed the white napkins and gave us dark ones as we were both in navy blue attire. Our server hustled over with fresh fruit/veggies to add to our water. The host greeted us by name on the way out and the valet staff was over the top.
Food wasn't bad but not up to par for the hype of the restaurant. The server was nice but the time it took to get all the food was about an hour. Mind you we were there at 4pm righr when thry opened and weremr too busy to where the food would be delayed. This is not a place where you can get a quick bite by any means. I would go back with friend for their birthday but not for a date night ever again.
It was a great evening dining at this Houston location. We were greeted upon arrival and was thanked when we left. The food was amazing and my girlfriend absolutely loved it there for her first time. Definitely have your wallet ready for the bill at the end of the night though..Lol..She had the Turf & Surf and I had the Seafood Pontchartrain. The creole sauce was excellent on my fish and her steak was cooked and seasoned appropriately.
