Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Houston Ratings and Reviews
Took my wife for dinner while on a special date. The food was great (calamari, Sonoma salad, filet, sea bass and dessert sampler) - bread was superb. Everything was perfect.
Service was excellent. Hostess was on the ball - quickly removed the white napkins and gave us dark ones as we were both in navy blue attire. Our server hustled over with fresh fruit/veggies to add to our water. The host greeted us by name on the way out and the valet staff was over the top.
Food wasn't bad but not up to par for the hype of the restaurant. The server was nice but the time it took to get all the food was about an hour. Mind you we were there at 4pm righr when thry opened and weremr too busy to where the food would be delayed. This is not a place where you can get a quick bite by any means. I would go back with friend for their birthday but not for a date night ever again.
It was a great evening dining at this Houston location. We were greeted upon arrival and was thanked when we left. The food was amazing and my girlfriend absolutely loved it there for her first time. Definitely have your wallet ready for the bill at the end of the night though..Lol..She had the Turf & Surf and I had the Seafood Pontchartrain. The creole sauce was excellent on my fish and her steak was cooked and seasoned appropriately.
It was my first visit. I had the Oyster Rockefeller for a starter and it was horrible. It sent me to the toilet. Enough said. Everyone else's food looked fine. The overall format and menu is becoming a bit outdated. Houston has better and more interesting places to eat for an expensive meal.
Truluck's never disappoints. The food is consistently of great quality and taste. During stone crab season, it is especially a must! Fresh, incredible seafood. Usually, I go in a group. Most everyone orders differently and yet everyone is happy with the quality and taste of what they ordered. Staff is attentive without being bothersome. Great bar scene in the evenings with live piano music. Easy, central, Galleria location.
I plan to keep coming back again and again.....
Beautiful restaurant that was clean and well laid out with rounded booths making it a cozy setting. Service was excellent and prompt, they had what looked to be an extensive wine list but I chose a delicious hand crafted cocktail called The Red Door. I had the yellowtail and my mom enjoyed their Alaskan Crab, both were amazing. I would highly recommend this place for any special occasion or just a nice date out.
Great food and good service. They had decorated the table with rose petals because I said in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary. Our waiter was very attentive and even brought us a free dessert for our special occasion. They have a nice wine selection and good cocktail menu of the standards.
Truluck's is a business woman's delight
I met a friend at Truluck's Galleria location this week. I expected another mundane steakhouse (we have dozens in Houston), but it was a surprise. It's a huge, gorgeous space with delightful orchid displays and comfy booths. Seasoned professional waiters offer smooth service. Food is top-notch, with a price-tag to match. My friend had 2 crabcakes for $34!! But keep in mind, it's 99% crab, unlike others that are packed with fillers. She also had a mouthwatering wedge salad, loaded with craft bacon and multicolored cherry tomatoes. My Surf & Turf Salad was graced with sirloin, cooked to perfection, and tender as a filet mignon. The luscious shrimp was buttery like lobster. Steep tag but lovely treat.
Though I've lived in the Houston area for 40 years, this was my first visit, and it was worth the wait.
We were there for our anniversary, and I was unaware that they only served cold claws (which my hubby doesn't like), but the mustard set it off and he loved them!
Everything was perfect!
I am a frequent patron of Trulucks and often invite out of town guests to join me there. However, the last visit on Saturday was very disappointing. In spite of the fact that the bar was relatively empty and my friend and I were sitting at the bar, DIRECTLY in front of our bartender, we often felt invisible. Slow service to ask if we neede another drink and after we got our food, we were ignored. We had to flag down a passing server to help us. Not typical Trulucks. Hopefully my next visit will be different
