Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Ft. Lauderdale Ratings and Reviews
This is a wonderful restaurant that is a bit pricey and worth the extra cost. The food is perfect and the service even better. A live piano player sets the ambience. This is not your every day restaurant, but wonderful for special occasions and when you're looking to impress... I have to impress my husband at least once a month. ;)
Entertained business associates from out of town. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We sat for quite a while before ordering dinner and were not pestered; no pressure. When we did order, the food came out fairly quickly and was excellent. The wine list was good. We were at the table for more than 3 hours; again there was no constant interruptions, etc.; great environment for business dinners. I would recommend it.
We were celebrating a birthday we ordered all you can eat Stone Crab‘s number one-Stone Crab‘s were dry, small, the hardest part is they were hammered to death so they were tiny tiny pieces of shells to be careful about number two when we asked for the sides as shown on the menu we asked for hashbrowns and were told that we could not have that particular side as shown on the menu when I yes the general manager he said it’s corporate. The only thing that saved this evening was the outstanding service that’s why we decided not to complain we tried and tried and tried we ordered multiple plates of Stone Crab‘s and still dry, shell chips, and very small. We were totally disappointed we didn’t There were three of us and we were totally disappointed in the food as we left we read they have their own seafood bees in Naples but these were so small and we watered and mediums.
Love the ambiance, an elegant setting but casual & cozy. We enjoyed cocktails before dinner in the lounge & impressed with the Happy hour Menu & beverage selections. The bartender was personable and made us feel welcome. Our dinner was perfect, the filet and salmon both were wonderful, we were treated to a fabulous flaming Anniversary desert after dinner, & the service we experienced during our visit to Trulucks is what truly sets Truluck’s apart from other restaurants. That is why we love to dine there and can’t wait to go back. I don’t recall being in any South Florida Restaurant where the staff is as attentive, courteous, professional and enjoyable to be around fas the group at Truluck's.
Excellent experience at Trulucks! The service(by Liam), the food, the wine, and the setting are simply great! My husband and I always enjoy eating here. Everything is fresh and delicious(try the tuna tartare for your appetizer and the Chilean sea bass for dinner), you can’t go wrong. The stone crabs are so tasty as are the oysters Rockefeller! A great wine list makes choosing a wine easy. And there is live entertainment. Just a perfect experience.
Occasion was Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day.
The turkey was very dry and cut into large thick chunks served over top of mashed potatoes which made it for a very messy way of eating. The turkey was so thick upon cutting it it made a sloppy mess of the plate due to it being placed over the potatoes.
There was simply not enough gravy to overcompensate the dryness of the turkey. So we askedfor more gravy to try to moistened the turkey.
The stuffing was a little scoop of bland, very dry, pasty cornbread.
And lastly the pumpkin pie:
It was dark brown in color and very spicy. The top note taste was Cloves and Nutmeg.
In my opinion that was way too much spices put in the pumpkin pie.
All around for the price that you paid was not a very good food experience on such an occasion.
Great service. Liam and assistant was a gem and both had great waiter and service instincts. Food above average. Atmosphere excellent for holiday meal. Satisfied both myself/husband and an 80 year old mother. Usually one of us has to give up something of importance to equally enjoy a meal but not at Trulucks.
 Missing two forks, two knives, three water glasses;
 Bread was not served before soup, but only after we asked, and then not until entrée was served;
 Family style vegetables were not served until everyone was almost finished with the entrée;
 I requested that my entrée (turkey) not be served with mashed potatoes; when it came with the turkey on top of mashed potatoes, I sent it back; a very sloppy plate was then brought to me; the turkey on my plate was 25% flabby, fatty skin and gristle --- inedible; the others at the table did not have the same experience;
 Three plates were served with no gravy; additional gravy was not brought to the table until everyone was almost finished;
 The restaurant was beautiful, the roses were breathtaking, but it was way too dark, especially for a midday meal.
we dined at Trulucks on Thanksgiving. My wife had stone crabs which were great. I on the other hand, had the turkey dinner.Just fair is my rating. The service was also sub par. Only one choice
for soup and one choice for dessert could use improvement. 3 small slices of turkey is not my idea of a Thanksgiving meal.
Sorry but below expectations ! My meal was ok but average for the money we spent there. Everything was way too salty. The place looks a bit old and tacky!!!! On the other end, our waiter was very good, excellent service. Finally 10$ for valet parking is a bit exaggerated.
Happy hour: after we got it understood that a cosmopolitan does not have slushy ice in it, it was uphill from there. Probably should not have charged me for that drink. It would have left a better thought of the bar experience. Excellent entertainment. Piano with vocals. Very nice. We were celebrating our anniversary and we were treated to rose petals on our table and baked Alaska for dessert. Our waiter, Spencer, could not have been better. Great recommendations from him and dining at a comfortable pace. I would definitely go back.
Great meal, there was a little confusion on our part as to the total number attending. We had a reservation for 8, but when we arrived we realized there may be a 9th. They easily moved us to a table for 10 that was reserved for a later party. When our 9th conformed he would not attend we let them know and asked to move to the table for 8 so as to not cause issues with the table for 10. They handled the hold issue with grace.
We arrived at Truluck's on time and had requested a "cozy corner". We did receive a beautiful corner booth that was very cozy.
This had been our first experience here, and so far so good.
The server was attentive, but not overly...just perfect.
Wine was delicious.....
I had the escargot for an appetizer....lemony, garlicky, divine.
My husband had the blue cheese wedge- awesome smoky bacon, big in size...but could have had a tad more dressing.
We both ordered Steak for dinner......
My husband the blue cheese special and myself the ribeye with a side of Bernaise(I think) sauce on the side.
Although the steaks had amazing flavor, they were disappointing as they were TOUGH. Much to our surprise......we informed our waiter and his response was "oh sorry." He should have known we weren't that happy as we both took home 3/4 of the order.
Other than that, the experience was lovely and we will certainly give them another try.
We just felt that for the price, it should have been like butter.
DEFINATELY worth giving them a shot.
We went for my mother's birthday and they treated her very special. Several managers came by during our meal to thank us for coming and to make sure we were happy. The table had confetti on it and they provided a birthday baked Alaska to my mother free of charge. It was a lovely evening.
