Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Dallas Uptown Ratings and Reviews
We came from CA with a stop in Dallas on our way to Oklahoma. Since we had an amazing experience just 3 weeks prior at the Austin Truluck's we were excited for Stone Crabs again. We called from the airport that we were running a bit late for our 1:45 reservation, we got there at 1:59 but spent a few minutes in the valet while "they" figured things out for us. Walked in and I said "Did we make lunch upstairs still we are 2 min late", I was promptly corrected in a stern voice by the greeter that "no, it is 2:05, upstairs is closed you will have to eat in the bar area". So we had to eat in the bar, not the experience we planned for coming all the way from CA. I am sure given that we have eaten at these chains about 4 times this year thus dropping about a total of $2000 (one was a business lunch), maybe a "5 min" concession could have been offered; especially since we did call ahead and the valet held us up a few minutes. The bar was just ok. The waiter had to be reminded to bring just about everything - bread (3x's reminded), refills, side dishes etc. I felt like we were getting the lunch kitchen leftovers. It was particularly cold in the bar area as well, with a company party across the hall that was loud. It just wasn't Austin Truluck's higher standards and quality experience. The lobster bisque tasted watered-down compared to Austin, but the stone crab was still good (no melted butter given though like at Austin). This was just OK. We will go to Trulucks again, but maybe bypass the Dallas location.
I was very excited to take my friend to this place for her Birthday, I give them a 4 star because not good for a special occasion like a Birthday dinner not good, I secretly told 3 different people including the manager that it was my friends birthday so they will make it at least special to her, but they didn’t do anything about it, no even told her happy Birthday! I understand if they don’t want to sing, but we were there to celebrate a special occasion, They told me that they will be doing something at the end but not body did anything! We waited for a long time but nothing happen, was kind of sad about it! If it wasn’t for that I will give you a 5 star because even on the reservation I asked to be special about it! I will recommend but never for a birthday dinner! My birthday is on the 21 and I was thinking to take all my friends there but changed my mind.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday with another couple. There was a mix up in the reservation but it was handle immediately and we had great table with a great view out to the street. Also the room we were seated in was smaller and quieter than the main part of the restaurant which made conversation much nicer.
The food was impeccably prepared and the service was amazing. Wedge Salad had the best Bleu Cheese I have ever tasted - and I am not a big fan. The Ahi Tuna was seared perfectly and all other guests raved about their entrees as well. We will be back at some point for another celebration!
The seafood is excellent. They have a different kind of oyster everyday which gives variety and shows their interest in it. They have interesting preparations for the fish, such as a sesame coated rare ahi tuna. The staff is very pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive.
Treated wife to birthday dinner and very pleased with setting, view, atmosphere. Service was excellent. The food was okay however not in the category of exquisitely delicious. Wife had lobster with crab cake which seemed okay but not impressive. I've enjoyed more juicer and tender ribeye at other restaurants. I still would go back to enjoy drinks in relaxing bar lounge.
The whole experience completely wow’d me. Best restaurant that I’ve been to in Dallas so far. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Food was incredible and made me wish I had room for more. Went for my boyfriends birthday and we got a complimentary baked alaska (the best cake I’ve ever had) accompanied by a cappuccino. I didn’t have a problem with anything! Great service and nice setting. Definitely recommend for a special occasion and plan to make a go-to for future occasions.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Truluck’s. We showed up on time for our reservation but still had to wait 20 minutes extra to be seated. The service was slow . Our appetizer was served while our menus still had not been collected from the table. Overall this was a very nice experience and we enjoyed ourselves. The prices are very expensive ($100+ per person) so this will be a one time only visit. Portions were adequate, cocktails were pricey($15) but on point. The rib eye ($56) was not very good, and served undercooked. The server brought a tacky tray of plastic fake desserts to sell you on the dessert selection (very weird). An electronic tablet was presented with your bill which was preloaded with a survey about your dining experience. You were carefully watched by the server while you completed the survey and the server kept “hinting” that she deserved a top score of 10, while looking over your shoulder. It was just a very strange experience towards the end. We won’t go back. Our meal took 3 hours start to end. Way too long due to slow service and a 30 minute wait for our entrees.
We visited Truluck’s on Thanksgiving. We were very pleased with their beautiful new building. One of the prettiest rooms in Dallas.
Of course we opted for their 3 course Thanksgiving menu after a half dozen oysters with a nice Sancerre.
Every course from the butternut squash soup (not too sweet) and the turkey with all the sides (dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus and Mac & cheese) to the amazing pumpkin pie with eggnog whipped cream. Their Hugel Alsatian reisling worked well with the dinner.
Service was exceptional and we will be sure to ask for Marcus on our return. He was on top of his game.
Everything was amazing from the moment we got there to the moment we left. Only thing I was not happy about was where our table was set. It was right by the wine glasses, servers kept passing by which was very uncomfortable. It was our anniversary so I would of loved less traffic coming to our table.
I would have given this 5 stars but the young lady at the reception desk was quite rude. We arrived 10 minutes before our 7pm reservation and she said our table was not quite ready. There is no place to sit in the reception area and the bar is packed. At 7:05 I asked when our table would be ready. She looked at me and said, “ they are running behind. It is Saturday you know.” Of course I knew it was Saturday which is why I made a reservation! She did not apologize or offer to ckeck. Nothing. Very disappointed. A table finally open in the bar so our party had a beverage while waited. It was 7:20 by time we were seated.
