Overall - just ok. This would be in line with a Morton's, but behind a Nick & Sam's or Al Biernat's in Dallas.
Ambiance - Great views of McKinney Avenue, central location. Throws you off a little to have to walk up & down the stairs given the restrooms are only downstairs while main dining room is upstairs.
Food - Good, but not great. The steak was "meh", and the chocolate cake dessert left a sour taste in our mouths (really...not sure where the sour would have come from)
Value - Trulucks has never strived for value, per-say, but it is in line price-wise with other top-end restaurants in Dallas
Service - Good, but on the impersonal side. You know when you get a server that truly connects and makes your evening an experience rather than just food? Yeah...not here. Not saying that is bad, but that isn't great either.
So to sum it up, the Trulucks in Southside is noticeably better across the food quality, ambiance and service. I'd recommend that location over Trulucks.
We chose Trulucks for our anniversary. It was amazing! Food was excellent, service was excellent. There were so many choices on the menu that we will definitely be back to try other food. Overall great experience. When they found out if was our anniversary they immediately went and got rose pedals for our table. We also were surprised with the Happy Anniversary Baked Alaska! It was great. We look our leftovers home with a piece of carrot cake. We were in heaven eating the next day as well! We will be back!!!
The food is always very good. The Lobster MAC n Cheese was a bit of a letdown.
It was a great diner celebration for my wife’s birthday.
First time at Truluck’s, and can’t wait to return! Beautiful interior (we had an upstairs table), impeccable service, and perfectly executed seafood! Both of our meals were so enjoyable that it will be tough not to order the same meals again (seared tuna / grilled swordfish). We had a terrific experience! Thanks, Truluck’s crew!!!
Hugo was great! Fish was a little dry! Great night though!
Has been on our list and did not disappoint. Clifton, our waiter, was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. Stone crab appetizer a must, lobster bisque smooth and creamy and crab cluster was fab! Anniversary Baked Alaska with French press coffee was a sweet ending.
Personalized service and great food.
The manager comes over and offers her card. That’s great service.
It had been a long while since we visited Truluck's. We moved from Up Town to Richardson so the commute didn't really help. We liked everything about our lunch there. The price for the Power Lunch is $30 and is a great buy for the area. Service was attentive but extremely slow. We ordered a glass of wine and it has to be fetched from the 1st floor and took 20 minutes to appear. Once it arrived, it was a good choice at a fair price. We will return again when we have a reason to make the commute.
Great service and excellent food. Recommend highly
They set us up in a cozy corner with a beautiful view overlooking the city for a birthday meal. Excellent service, good drinks, good food stone crab claws and sea bass. Splendid presentation for baked Alaska and decadent carrot cake.
My wife and I had an extraordinary experience. We were greatly pleased.
Every time we have been here, service has been impeccable. The food is completely mouth watering and savory. The flavors are something I have never had before. We love Truluck’s.
From the greeting at the door to the delicious baked Alaska and cheesecake, everything was great. The server was a true pro- very polite, engaging and knowledgeable. The food was great, the seating (booth) is very comfortable with a great view, as the restaurant is on the second floor. They had a great singer and pianist downstairs in the bar that you could hear upstairs, but it wasn’t too loud. Thank you Truluck’s! Great as usual.
The service was spectacular it was my daughters 10th birthday and they made her feel like a princess! They had waitress all the way up the stairs greeting her and telling her happy birthday. Table was decorated and they brought out a birthday desert at the end to celebrate. Very nice! The Main Dishes were beyond Awesome, cooked properly and taste was great. We had two appetizers and this was are only bad mark In our good rating. The meatballs were ok nothing to write home about and the lobsterscargo was a little bland and the lobster was tough. Those were the only negatives though. Our server was great, management was friendly and the entertainment was really nice.
We celebrated our anniversary there and it was perfect from the time we walked in the door until we left! They went out of their way to make it special and memorable! The food was excellent and the servers were so attentive and friendly!
Great food, service, very nice atmosphere, the waitress and management and even the men who helped bring the food out, treated us royalty ! The food was top notch, very much a 10 star restaurant on a scale of five!
Fish over cooked. They were so nice and apologetic and took it off bill
The steak was very underwhelming. Bland and undercooked.
The lobster, however, was top class. Avoid the meat choices and stick to seafood.
Wonderful fine dining experience with a relaxed atmosphere.
Amazing food and Mike C the servers is amazing, I would definitely visit again!
The food was excellent, especially the very large South African Lobster tail, the wait staff friendly and timely, and there were some noisy patrons that didn't make us happy on our anniversary dining experience. Granted, we were seated at a later than desirable time (9:15p.m.) which would explain the large, noisy (drinking?) table. The city view was very nice out all the large windows. The waiter was very attentive and seemed to anticipate all our needs. A bit pricey. Overall, this was an excellent late choice dining experience and we look forward to going back on another special or other occasion!
We were staying at the hotel Sza Sza and saw a Truluck’s was across the street so we decided to give it a try. We made an EXCELLENT choice! Although we had a reservation, we chose to sit in the lounge area. Fantastic live music! Good drinks and amazing food! The crab cakes were just delicious. We will definitely be back!
Great experience and great food! A perfect date night
Excellent service and food!
We were SO excited that they had the hard to find colossal stone crab. They were outstanding and the tuna tartare tower was amazing with an surprise of avocado in the base, delicious!!
Service n setting excellent. Music too loud at first but better upstairs.
Food too salty and Salmon was over cooked twice. They didn’t charge for the one sent back but this is supposed to be their specialty.
It was excellent. Food was delicious. Can’t wait to go again.
My husband and I went to Truluck’s for a date night dinner. This was our first time back to Truluck’s after many years. We were extremely impressed with every aspect of our visit, from the service to the food and beyond. The food was absolutely amazing. We both had surf and turf, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and the crab cocktail. My only regret is I didn’t take any pictures. I could eat the cauliflower every single day of my life.
Thanks so much.
Really nice and chic restaurant with great service but quite over priced.
First time at this location and just as expected both the service and food was outstanding. Never felt rushed through the meal and the noise level was low enough that you could enjoy dinner and conversation with friends.
Great sea food, excellent service and very nice live piano music.
Big disappointment. Food was only mildly enjoyable. The music was entirely toooo loud. We felt sorry for the poor folks on the first floor where the sound was unbearable!!
This was our second time dining at Truluck’s. We had a cup of lobster bisque and clam chowder soup. Both soups were too spicy. We shared a one pound king crab; however, did not care for the melted garlic butter or the fried rice as a side. Wish we would have asked our server for just regular melted butter without any additional seasoning. Portion size at a half pound was just right for each of us. Our selection of a French white wine was a good choice. We’ll know better if we choose to dine there again in the future. No recognition for our special occasion, so we decided to pass on desert.
Usual great service and food. Nice environment. I had the wedge salad, exceptional. Wife loves miso glazed sea bass. Everything done right
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had.
Came here for an anniversary dinner and loved it , rose petals were spread out on our table when we arrived , very romantic, great food , and friendly staff.
Food was outstanding. David, the waiter, gave excellent service.
Great table for 7 upstairs. Skyler was awesome.
The special was whole redfish...delicious! Wish I could have that once a week.
