Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Boca Raton Ratings and Reviews
Valentine’s dinner was outstanding. We expected a special holiday menu but were pleased to see the regular one. We had a great French white wine. We started with a seafood combination of oysters, shrimp cocktail, stone crab claws, and a rock crab salad. It comes out with dry ice cloud... very dramatic. Dinners were grouper ponchitrain and seared tuna. Both excellent! We were ready to turn down dessert but discovered a mini sized carrot cake...so delectable. And the coffee here is just outstanding. The level of service is top notch and sets a bar that few restaurants approach.
Well, the evening was fine till I claimed my car from the valet. I was putting my car key back on the chain and a woman that was dressed as a traffic control person knocked on my car window and started complaining that my car was parked on the cross walk. I explained that the valet from Truluck left it there and she said it was my car and my problem. I have to tell you that left a bad taste on my mouth for the eve, especially when the valet check in point was feet away from the incident and they did nothing about the angry “cop.”
We were in Boca for a few days of relaxation and to celebrate Valentine's Day. Our friends recommended Trulucks and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the service was great. The goat cheese just melted in your mouth on Jack's dish. My scallops were delicious. The wine selection was good and our server was able to recommend a couple of tasty wines. All in all a great experience and we will be back the next time we visit FL!
Good food as always wine selection for our 1st glass was not that good recommended by the bartender.
Expected the waiter to maybe change it out or ask us if we cared for something else. Closing the tab was interesting when leaving as the waiter made a comment about tatoo guys and that was reason in addition to having see ID on my CC.
I’ll hit Trulucks again but maybe not in mizner Park
While pricey, we had an excellent dinner. I particularly appreciated their willingness on my entree to substitute spinach for an item to which I'm allergic. The baked Alaska they served to celebrate my spouse's birthday really topped off the evening nicely. It was a nice treat.
We arrived a little bit early and we were seated immediately. We ordered a cocktail and a glass of wine. Both were excellent, but a bit pricey. Our waiter then delivered a bread basket with a selection of wonderful warm breads. We skipped appetizers and each ordered delicious main course dinners. I had the single petite lobster tail stuffed with crab, and my companion had the sea bass. It wasn’t listed on the menu as “Chilean” sea bass, but our waiter confirmed that it was “Chilean. We were both extremely pleased with both the preparation and presentation. My dish came with a side of mashed potatoes but I was given the option to switch to any of the several sides listed on the menu. After dinner was finished our waiter brought the desert tray. Yum, everything looked delicious, so we shared a decadent chocolate creation and a good but unremarkable cheesecake. Overall the food was memorable. We will be back. Unfortunately, valet parking was $8.
I went for the first time on my Birthday 2/2. The stone crabs were fresh and delicious. Huge. Cracked to easily eat. The Sid dishes came with, no extra charge and were delicious and plentiful.
My husband had lobster tail stuffed with a crab cake. I tasted the lobster and it was perfectly cooked. It also came with an accompanying side dish.
The bread was fresh and delicious.
We told them it was my birthday and they provide a yummy free desert. I’m allergic to chocolate so they substituted fresh and delicious another choice. In my case, key lost me pie. And it was fresh and delicious.
The waitress was very accommodating.
That was our first visit , but I can assure you, not the last.
Our waiter Adam was not very attentive to our needs. We ordered the all you can eat stone crab claws and we had to wait every time wanted more. He was very busy socializing with all his tables and was not paying attention to us. This kind of ruined the evening. We were there celebrating my husband's birthday.
I find this restaurant to be very good for family gets together and couples dining out! The food is not bad but it could be better. We had the stone crab and I found that they were not very flavorful and they had too many small pieces of the shells that made it very difficult to enjoy.
We went for the All you can eat stone crab special. Disappointing- the initial stone crabs were smashed so bad that they were mostly inedible due to every bite having shell in it.
The second batch I heard were much better but I was so turned off I did not bother eating them.
My Advise is to Not go for the special but order a few jumbos and enjoy your meal. Not worth the work.
Extremely disappointed with service, portion size , and price. We had to ask for the manager who took control, we couldn’t find a bus boy in sight we needed refills of water and butter, plus we waited 45 minutes for our appetizers. To top it off the valet damaged our car and never told us. Publish want you want but this was an aweful experience, I am strictly writing about the Boca Raton location. We ordered the steak filet, shrimp and crab meat . The 7oz steak shrunk down to a large meatball, the crab meat were shreds of crab, no chunks and the shrimp were no larger then my pinky.I found the help was not trained to give the service we expect from such a fine restaurant.
Still my number one restaurant in Boca Raton. Been coming here every year for the last 10 years when visiting my in-laws in Florida. It’s the only place I ever want to go!
The Stone Crab claws are amazing, love the mustard sauce and all the fixings. Fantastic service every time, yummy desserts, and always enjoy sitting on on outside terrace. Thanks to the Maitre’D Jordan for making it happen. Can’t wait to be back for our next visit in April...
I don't know why a lot of people talked about bad service in the reviews. Since the moment we walked in the door from the host/hostess to the bar tenders, and to the wait staff, everything was great. Everyone was all smiles, and we were not rushed. The noise was at a good lower level so the 4 of us could converse without screaming across a table. Even the piano player at the bar was not overbearing. Water was constantly refilled without us having to ask. The food was a good 4 stars. Less salt and crème on everyone's dish so you can taste the food more would make it better. Our waitress had a bunch of tables yet still managed to take care of us with kid gloves and great care. Overall the 4 of us would definitely go back.
