Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Austin Downtown Ratings and Reviews
We were there celebrating my birthday and my friend’s birthday. We have dined there on multiple occasions and each time the experience has been excellent. Our waiter took great care of us and answered any questions we had. However, my friend’s meal came out cold. It was sent back to be warned, once it came back to the table it was still cold. At this point the manger was notified and promptly remedied the situation by making her a new meal. In light of the meal being cold, we had a great time celebrating life and friendships.
While the service and atmosphere were great, the food was not so great. The lobster bisque was not smooth enough and left a chalky after taste. Way too tarragon in everything to include the butter. My salmon was ok not great but the mushrooms were seansoned very well. My girlfriend’s steak had a good char on it and the mashed potatoes were good. I believe she liked the lobster tail. So over all the food was good but not great like we expected, especially for the price. Probably won’t be dining again anytime soon.
Our experience was quite good in terms of the food and service.... the wait for the food was about 45 minutes....too long and mostly the greater was not helpful in terms of accomodating us since we arrived about twenty five minutes early... He simply said to wait at the bar but there were no seats....he could at least talked to us with more respect..... the food was excellent as was the service
Truluck's never fails to disappoint! This is my go-to restaurant for special occasions because the food, ambiance, service, dessert and wine list are absolute perfection. The surf and turf is my favorite, and the carrot cake is to die for. While you will spend a pretty penny, it is entirely worth it. Not only is service exceptional once you walk in the door, but every time my fiance and I go, I receive a call the next day making sure the service and food I received were to my liking. If you're looking for a classy place downtown with amazing food, go to Truluck's!
Everything here from Happy Hour in the Lounge through dinner was great. The drinks, appetizers, scallops and desserts did not disappoint. Two of the three people at our table had the Surf and Turf and while it was OK, it wasn't outstanding. I definitely won out by ordering the scallops. It is a pricey night out, but worth it for the experience. Maybe do seafood or beef, but not both to ensure you are getting a good plate.
This was my first time at the newly remodeled Trulucks. Huge improvement from the original location. The experience while dining was EPIC!!! EVERYONE we came in contact with made my wife and I feel extremely special. The couple singing on the night we dined was AMAZING. Our waiter Alan (pronounced Alon) was incredible.
Overall, they truly exceeded my expectations.
P.S. They even called the next day to see how our dining experience went.
Unfortunately when my 3 friends and I dined at Truluck's, we didn't bring our appetites with us. We all agree we have to return to this wonderful Seafood house. The restaurant décor is beautiful, the apps we had were delicious, and the service was impeccable. As soon as we were seated at our table, the manager came over to make sure we were comfortable, and he left his business card should we need to reach out to him; He returned later on to make sure we had all we needed, and the following day he called me to follow up, asking if everything was done to make our visit all we wanted it to be. I assured him that we were completely satisfied, and are looking forward to dining with them again. I can honestly say I've never received a phone call like this. We don't live in the Austin area, but I can honestly say we will be back, and we will be dining at Truluck's!
My wife and I celebrated our 26th anniversary at Trulucks recently and were completely thrilled with all aspects of the dinner. I booked the reservation online and noted that it was our anniversary. The hostess was great and welcomed us for our anniversary dinner. Our table was decorated with rose petals, but not overdone or obnoxious. Our waitress, Kaylynn, was fantastic and made some nice dinner recommendations. There was a nice 2 person band playing when we arrived which made it fairly noisy in the bar area, but it was still early in the evening. Overall it was a great evening thanks to the service at Trulucks.
Really disappointed with our most recent visit. We waited close to 45 minutes to receive our previously reserved table. Our waiter was unfriendly and seemingly disinterested with our table the entire night. Service was extremely slow, and we waited forever between courses. Took an exceedingly long time to close the bill as well. Add overpriced stone crabs that were not good - either previously frozen or old - but they were hardly fresh. Not what I expect for this type of restaurant at this price point. Will not return.
I always look forward to ending my trip to Austin with a wonderful meal at Trulucks. My family and I along with a few hundred other people travel to Austin for the Pro Life March once a year to celebrate life and the accomplishments and hurdles overcome from the past year.
Trulucks and the staff are always kind and welcoming. Chef Tommy was on his game and our waiter Alon was very attentive and professional.
Thank you see you next year.
We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary as a family, starting our meal with some calamari (yum!) and a chilled seafood platter. Our son had a beautiful ribeye steak with creamed corn, while we had surf & turf (double yum!) with asparagus and their miso-glazed seabass. The wine pairing suggested by our server, Ian (pronounced EYE-an), worked just right. The restaurant surprised us with a special dessert - Baked Alaska (final yum!) on a pretty plate!
