Great food - Great Service - Great Red Door Martini + Free dessert on your Birthday "Can't Miss"
Meal and service were excellent. The place was packed so the noise level seemed a bit elevated
This trip was NOT up to their normal standard. We were with friends and did not want to complain, but the Shrimp Cocktail and Lobster claws were over cooked, steaks ordered "M" were VERY rare and overall just missed the mark we have grown to expect when we spend $300.00 plus on a nice dinner. The wines recommended were not great. As opposed to the wines recommended in the bar in February ! Too bad, as Truluk's was our go to for Birthdays, Holidays and such. As our friends were treating us to this special dinner (Birthday and Anniversary for both couples) we did not discuss it until we got home. Both my wife and I were disappointed in what should have been exceptional based on the same dinner 2 months ago. Service was still great, but that is not really why you go to Truluck's!
I had wanted to take my parents to Truluck’s for a while now. This was their first experience and it was awesome! Jason was our server and did a fantastic job!
Excellent place for any occasion. Five star service and amazing food!
Celebrated my wife's B'day. Great food and service. Awesome!
The food was good, but not as good as expected. The manager and waiter made it very special for a birthday celebration.
Food was very, very slow in coming to the table. We were there 2 hours. The baked Alaska was yummy.
I had a wonderful time. The food was great.
We've eaten at Truluck's dozens of times. The food was excellent, as always, but the service was super slow. Our waiter was GREAT, but he had too many tables and we had to wait to order, and extra time every time we asked for something (drink refills, extra condiments, etc.). We will be back, and hopefully the service will match the brand.
Always a great choice for classic fine dining with excellent food and impeccable service.
Truluck's has been an old favorite for my wife and I. I remember having the most wonderful steak of my life at Truluck's in downtown Austin several years ago. Dry aged beef that just melted in your mouth kind of steak.
However, on a recent visit to the Arboretum location, the steaks looked and tasted of much less quality from what I remember. In fact, based on taste and texture, I don't feel they are using aged beef anymore, and I did not see it noted anywhere on their menu.
Anyway, I ordered their Premiere Rib-eye Steak entree at $55 (as shown). Unfortunately, I would compare the cut to something you could get at a franchise steakhouse like Saltgrass or Outback. Nothing special that is. For the price of $55, I was expecting a lot more. Also, the steak was slightly overdone around the edges. I ordered it medium rare, but the center was pink to slightly red, and the edges (about 1 1/2 inches of it) were definitely medium, very light pink. I decided to inform my waiter, but turned down the replacement which was offered since I was starving at the time and I knew they would take my entire plate away so I could wait another 10 min for it. Like I said, it was only slightly overdone, and to be fair, another persons steak at the same table was done perfectly (I was jealous!), so they got that one right. Also, we ordered crab legs and other seafood items which were tasty and fresh, but again, nothing that compares to the "market" price paid...again, not seeing the value. Other factors like service and ambiance where what you would expect for a fancy restaurant, so no complaints there.
All told, our bill was $296 (before tip) which included a $40 bottle of wine. Also, our server threw in a slice of cheesecake ($14 value) as a kind gesture for the overdone steak.
So don't get me wrong here, I don't dislike this place. I just think there are better places for the money. Would I go back..? Probably not.
Everything was great. Waitress very knowledgeable. Food was great. Baked Alaska was the best.
We went for our anniversary and they went out of their way to make us feel special. The service was great and the food was amazing
The server was named Jerry. He was very nice and professional. Excellent conversationalist and very informative.
Truluck's provided one of our best dining experiences in Austin, TX. The food and service stood out among the small group of restaurants we've preferred in the past. We plan another visit soon.
Very good but over priced. I know its seafood in Texas but come on.
Perfectly cooked lobster and steak.
We went to Truluck's for my daughter's birthday and while my expectations were high ( my research indicated that this place was well worth the price) the actual experience was even better. Every bite we took was heavenly (we had the seafood platter and a shrimp cocktail for appetizers, (fabulous presentation and excellent quality), the lobster bisque for a first course (again: heavenly), my daughter had the filet on the bone and my husband and I both chose the scallops. Everything was absolutely perfect. ...but what made it even better was the service: our waiter was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, was miraculously there every time we needed him, but never once did we feel his presence when we did not need him. He was totally aware of our needs. As an example: he was filling up my daughter's water glass and came over to fill up mine right as I reached for my glass to take a sip - out of the corner of my eye I say him immediately turn around to make sure I didn't feel like he was hovering over me and he didn't turn around until I had finished drinking and put the glass back on the table - at that time he turned toward our table and filled my glass. This was the most excellent service I have ever had, paired with a beautiful presentation of the most heavenly food. I rate our experience 5 star without hesitation!
Took my boyfriend for his birthday and we had an amazing dinner and had a great time. Wendy was our server and made it really special.
We came here with a group of seven, and this was the third time I've been here. I've never eaten anything here that was less than amazing. Worth every penny!
Truluck's never has disappointed us. The refresh of the place is very nice. More light into the bar area is great and having more dinning tables is also welcomed. Customer service is top-notch and they accommodate your every need. Great place to have a special dinner.
Excellent food and great service. The Easter brunch menu was an added bonus because it had chicken on it for my kids.
This was the finest meal I’ve had in years. The staff was the most polished and professional of any restaurant I’ve eaten in. It was a delight
Trulucks is one of the best seafood restaurants in Austin. It is not cheap but the quality is worth the expense. Everything they prepare tastes amazing and it always a pleasure to dine there.
We enjoyed our staff appreciation dinner. The service was thoughtful, timely, and attentive. Our server, Randy, even gave some of us at the table a little steak selection education at our request, which came in handy for ordering. All told, it was a delicious and enjoyable dinner.
Great service, good ambience and love the new renovations.
My husband and I went here to celebrate a late Valentine's Day and his birthday. As always, the food was very good, service was also very good, and ambiance exactly what we wanted. We always return here when we want an exceptional dining experience.
Electricity went out in this old shopping center and dinner could not be served. However, manager was nice and made reservations at another restaurant for us.
We were there the night the transformer blew on 183. We were in the dark but we had started with a bottle of wine and cold appetizers so we waited to see if power would come back on. The wine and appetizers were great. Our waiter, Sheng? was superior. I was sad we couldn’t finish the meal but we were very well attended to.
There was a power outage, but they managed to get us served, and we appreciated that as we had friends from out of town
The food and service are top notch. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. The food, from salad to dessert, was cooked perfectly and outstanding in flavor and presentation. We will be back!
We ate in the lounge area and it was a very pleasant experience. The music was terrific. The service was outstanding The food was good, not outstanding which you would expect for the price. Of course it's hard to mess up stone crab.My steak was another story. It tasted like one you would have at Longhorns at half the price. The mashed potatoes were a little on the cold side.
We love Truluck’s! The food is always delicious. The recent remodel seems to have helped with the noise level which I found to be too loud for conversation during really busy times before. The service is outstanding (as expected for this caliber of dining). If a request is made or a problem arises, the staff is very accommodating. Everyone was quite friendly and even the manager helps servers when needed! We would go more often if the prices were lower but hey, that’s what make it’s so special.
We came to see the physical changes that had been made since our last visit. Place looked great. The food was excellent and the service was typically perfect. Baked Alaska made the evening. Manager dropped by the table and gave us his card when he checked on us.
It was absolutely fantastic. Food and wine was great. Service was excellent.
I went to this restaurant a year ago when I was in Austen on business. When I returned this year I decided I just had to come back, I'd spent a year thinking about my miso glazed fish. I wondered if I had imagined how good it was. I hadn't. My friend ordered the scallops which were to die for. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was completely delicious. This was a meal worth waiting for.
We love to experience fine dining. In this instance the food way extremely overpriced for the quality and taste. I did a surf and turf and my steak was over cooked and dry. I was never asked how it was prepared. It was a shame because the flavor was good but I received medium well for an order of medium rare - huge difference.
Had a family dinner, with a friend. Seafood was outstanding, including calamari, scallops, lump crab cakes, and lobster. Steaks were done perfectly ad side were great. Recommend for any special night out.
Always wanted to eat there and it was wonderful.
We came at a time when there was live music at the bar. The noise level was high. The waitress could barely hear us and vice-versa. Food was very good and large portion.
