Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Austin Arboretum Ratings and Reviews
Went to Trulucks to celebrate my son's birthday. Met for drinks and appetizers in the bar... then moved on to our reservation for dinner. Everything was perfect. Just a touch of decoration to acknowledge the birthday... with a free baked alaska for dessert... and great food... great wine selection reasonably priced.
They hit it out of the ball park. It is newly remodeled and gorgeous. Our server was attentive and sweet. I whispered it was my mother in laws birthday, and he surprised us with confetti on the table and a baked Alaska desert.
They made it fun and special. Thanks Trulucks!
Had an anniversary dinner planned only to find out place was shut down for remodeling. Either this restaurant moved or closed a second location down for remodeling. Called after making reservation on Open Table and was told we did not have a table. Cant rate the food, heard it is top of the heap too bad, but they should clear this up. BTW, the downtown location is the one that is still open or this is way it was moved to. To be fair, had to choose ratings or I would have left blank to be fair, so given this experience blew may plans all low. Sorry, you asked!
Great food and restaurant, excellent service. They were going through a remodel (actually closing the next day) so the dining room wasn't as nice as I expected. And it was REALLY DARK. (We asked to be moved which helped). Expensive ($400 for four people including one bottle of wine). Honestly, not sure the meal was worth the price.
We dined there while visiting Austin for the USGP and we were also celebrating our anniversary The management and staff went out of their way to make our evening very special!
The menu is varied with a nice selection of beef and seafood. We had the mussels as a starter and stuffed lobster for the main course. Both were excellent and the baked Alaska dessert was over the top. The wine selection is comprehensive and reasonably priced.
Truluck's is our new tradition for our USGP vacation in the future.
Compliments to the chef and hats off to the staff on a job well done!!
This restaurant is in the middle of a renovation and we understood that when we booked, however, their service could use a renovation as well. We came to celebrate my wife’s birthday. A night out sans kids is rare for us these days. We were promptly seated in a small section of the restaurant as most of the dining was closed for renovation. We ordered fair quickly as we have been to Trulucks before and we were familiar with the menu. The service after that lacked what we saw others receive around us. Our appetizers seemed to have taken an extreme amount of time. Come to find out our crab cake and oysters were given to table next to us that was just seated and still reading their menus. Yeah for them. We continued to wait patiently for someone (manager) to explain the mixup. He did bring out some soup, but My wife doesn’t eat lobster. By the time our apps arrived we were ready to eat our main course. We were disappointed in the attentiveness we received. It will be a long time before we try them again. Dinner for 2 that takes 2 1/2 hours is way too long for us.
We started evening with Tangeray martinis. We ordered the lump meat crab cakes and the calamari both appetizers were the best I have ever had. The crab cake is literally all crab meat, you have to search for any breading, the calamari was tender and flavorful. My wife's sea scallops were tender and succulent, cooked and seasoned to perfection, my Redfish Ponchatrain was perfect. The sauce which contains crawfish tails, shrimp and blue crab does not overwhelm the fish. This Trulucks location is very consistent, the food and service is well worth the drive and the cost. I am anxious for them to reopen after their remodel.
Wonderful Birthday celebration for a friend. She had not been to this location before, and was most impressed! The martinis were perfect, as was my filet and her salmon bernaise.
At a previous visit with my husband, Sheng was our waiter. We were fortunate to have him again as our waiter. He is the very best! Gracious, kind, knowledgeable about the menu and the wines and smooth as silk service.
An evening at Truluck’s is the whole package! Highly recommend!
Came for a birthday occasion. The waiter was great and followed up often. When we had our appitizers and they took the plate away a small (I mean tiny tiny) spider was on the table. There was construction that was going on that could of contributed to that. When we ordered salads they did come out wrong but when the waiter showed up he quickly realized it and we had new salads in less than a minute. We have come here for many special occasions and these small things won't detour us from coming back. The food was great and so was the service.
Truluck's has been a favorite of mine for years, and again, it didn't disappoint. I cannot say enough about the menu, as the seafood is fresh and steaks mouthwatering. What made this dinner even more incredible was the exceptional service by our server Kika (Jessica). Her recommendations were perfect, and she not only gave us impeccable service, we feel we made a friend.
Great experience! Scallops were the best I have ever had, very fresh and tender. Wonderful atmosphere. Just a little too dark in some areas, and was unable to read menu without waiters light. Disappointed they were out of their famous crab claws, but understand the high standards and quality are a priority. I will be back. Highly recommend.
My sisters and I went to celebrate our birthday's together, Service was excellent. Attentive but not over done. The food was very good. One of my sisters eats very little but completely finished her plate. I had the filet. Very flavorful without being over seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The Martini's are very nice, and it they appear to have a very nice wine selection. I noticed management and the chef come thru to access customer satisfaction (without disturbing the diners) I will return to Trulucks again. Perhaps try it for lunch or happy hour as well.
Once again, Truluck's did NOT disappoint! It has been our "special place" for 15 years and continues to be our go to spot for celebrating special occasions for my husband and me. We were seated at a romantic table for two, complete with rose pedals and champagne when we arrived. The food was, as always, OUTSTANDING and so was the service. See you next year on our anniversary and hopefully sooner!
I made a reservation for my wife's birthday. They reserved a great table for us. The management and waitstaff were on top of the game giving great service. The food was excellent and to top it off there was a complimentary dessert. It was a very satisfying experience.
The food was very salty. We all had trouble sleeping after the meal. I like salt and enjoyed mine, but even I felt it was too much and I had a terrible night's sleep after the meal. My husband had high blood pressure and is luckily on medication for it, otherwise we would have worried about him eating the meal.
Celebrated my wife's birthday here and, as always, were very pleased with the service, food, and ambiance. Pricey, but they make you feel like you are special and the quality and selection of food is very good. An excellent restaurant for special occasions. Recommended!
Overall very good dining experience with the exception of a couple of issues:
1. Was an anniversary celebration dinner, yet we were seated in the middle of the room at a table. Perhaps my fault for not requesting a booth, but assumed that would be obvious.
2. The chairs at the table are too low for shorter people. My wife is 5'1" and was uncomfortable having to reach up to access her food. Perhaps a booth would have resolved this problem.
Combination of excellent food and first class service makes Truluck's our go-to restaurant for a great meal. Tonight was wife's birthday and they rolled out the special treatment, including a complimentary Baked Alaska served on a chocolate scribed birthday greeting plate. Every ordered item exceeded expectation.
Truluck's was recommended to me by several people whose food credentials I respect and I now see why it has garnered all the raves!
We started with the mussels which were prepared with Italian sausage--so yummy!
Each of the four of us had a fish entree. While the redfish was very good, the Ahi tuna was better, but the salmon was best.
The lobster bisque was divine. I'm already thinking about my next visit for a lunch of soup and the wonderful sourdough bread!
