Both the food and service were excellent - surprisingly so. The trout and petite filet were better than what we've had at Annie Gunn's, and we love AG's. The servers were attentive to the point of intrusiveness, and we felt a bit like we were being rushed along. It's a popular spot, so it can be a bit noisy, especially the bar. While it has a huge wine menu, the markup is crazy - par for the course at nicer establishments. Overall, I recommend it, but drinks will add significantly to your bill.
was traveling to st Louis and researched restaurants and picked Truffles by reviews , website, and menu.
we had 4 appetizers and split an entree
the tuna lettuce wraps were great along with the sample board. the waiter recommended two wonderful wines by the glass. the greek salad was just ok and the lobster roll was something we were really looking forward to and would have ordered one for both but was not what we were expecting, lots of lobster but the rendition was not to our taste, will have to wait for a Maine trip. The pasta description had our mouths watering but the dish was very bland and nothing special although the pasta was cooked perfectly. the wine recommendations saved the night.
There was a very large private party the night we ate there - but the private party was in the main dining room as were we. They made up abut 1/3 of the dining room. It made for a very noisy evening and really did impact our ability to have conversation and to enjoy being together. This large a group should not have been allowed in the main dining room. I spoke with the manager when we left, and he apologized . However noone made an effort to address this problem while we were eating.
Great meal at truffles. One of the best wine lists in the city.
Great food and service. The lobster roll was quite good and the petite filet was outstanding. Wonderful wine list.
Julie was the best server ever!!!
Truffles has the best Nee York strip in St. Louis and their Bernaise sauce is amazing!!!
Fantastic wine list, exceptional use of truffles and truffle oil in dishes as the name would imply. Great service starting from the hostess all the way through the end of the evening. Good, not great value for food but an enjoyable ambiance fit for special occasions or everyday dining alike.
Overall this is a great restaurant. The food is a little pricey, but the quality and service were excellent.
The server, Matt, was super attintive. The steaks were prepared perfectly and the overall expierence for a pre valentine day dinner was exceprional.
We have visited Truffles several times in the past and had excellent meals. Our recent visit this week was a disappointment. We were seated at a table right in front of the kitchen door, which totally killed the mood of our romantic dinner out. My husband's duck entree was very tasty. I ordered the double pork chop and found it full of fat and seasoned with too much salt (on top of what no doubt was a brined piece of meat). Not sure we'll rush back.
Fabulous food, however the service was disappointing.
Well prepared high quality, flavorful food.. knowledgeable waitpersons. But a good “steakhouse” not very inventive. Fun atmosphere, good dinner spot supportive of quiet conversation. Reservation was made two weeks in advance and there were many open tables, but the two women (our party) got the table by the kitchen entry.
The food is excellent, our table ordered a variety of beef, lamb, and fish - all great. The wine list has about 2,000 choices!
Really enjoyed our dinner. The menu is small enough that it doesn't take long to read through the options but you still have a good variety. The gumbo was very tasty too start. Our entrees were both cooked well. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly to order and the duck was very moist. The room filled around us but it wasn't too loud to enjoy our conversation. Great service as well.
Truffles has gotten better & better! A real gem in Ladue.
We found the music unbearably loud when we first came in but they did turn it down. And the food is EXCELLENT!
The food was beyond impressive! This restaurant has always been good but lately it has been outstanding!
Excellent food and service. Impressive wine list. Definitely a special occasion spot but both my husband and I really enjoyed everything.
Excellent atmosphere, food Delish and the service from Heather was phenomenal. I highly recommend truffles.
Food excellently prepared, with good service. An award winning wine list in a great atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed eating here.
Great direction on wine from sommelier. Wonderful waiter helping navigate us through the menu.
I was there twice in one week. Absolutely love it. It’s pricey but well worth it. Beautiful restaurant and wonderful food. A great place to show how good a St Louis restaurant can be.
Each one of our party of four ordered a different entree ( two were specials), and everyone was very happy! Fish and meat cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive, so it was easy to find great pairings for everything at the table. Service was attentive and informed. Appetizers and desserts were wonderful, too.
The dining room is large and when it's full, it can get a little noisy. Not a problem unless you're trying to have a quiet dinner. The only recommendation I would have for ambiance is to turn down the overhead music in the dining room.
A fabulous meal and evening! Can't wait to go back.
A very pleasant surprise. An OpenTable recommendation. I purposely didn't do much up front research wanting no up front expectations. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. We totally enjoyed the experience. I enjoy quieter restaurants so you can have a pleasant conversation without raising your voice. Truffles is perfect for that and still provides enough atmosphere to keep it pleasant. The wine list is obviously one of the key reasons to visit this restaurant. It's out of this world. You would be hard pressed not to find something to your liking. Everyone is able to provide great advice as well. We are definitely returning.
Excellent! We will be back - often! Black and bleu filet, and almond trout were both fantastic!
Enjoyed an amazing beet salad and one of the best New Strips I have ever eaten.
The restaurant has now raised its corkage fee to $35 which is the highest in St. Louis. It is more than a little ridiculous. I know the restaurant is trying to drive people to their wine list but the corkage will cause us to frequent other restaurants and not Truffles.
Let me start by saying the steak was fabulous. The pork was juicy. That's where it ends. The sides were unimaginative. The sauces average. The service was excellent. All dishes were served at once. The interior is I desperate need of updating. The tables were so crowded together that all of us at the table were being bumped throughout our meal. Disappointing experience for the money I paid
The food is great, servers very nice and friendly - loved the outdoors in the fall. Have recommended to many.
The menu was too meat heavy for us. Vegetarians would be hard pressed to find an entre. While I eat fish and chicken, the chicken pot pie was also very heavy, although I was pleased it was made with only white meat.
Sorry lunch will no longer be served. It has been our group's favorite lunch spot.
Great holiday meal. Try the escargots! Outstanding.
This was our third visit to Truffles and this time everything was the same as it has been in the past. Excellent and attentive service, superb wine selection, tasty food selections and a lovely atmosphere. The only drawback I can point to is the size of the stuffed lobster tail portion. It was on the small side when I gazed upon others that ordered the same.
This is something I think I can overlook as the company I was with very much enjoyed their food and saw no issues.
Everything was superb! Even the sommelier was helpful and selected an excellent wine that complimented our meal.
Our waitress was impeccable; I believe Heather was her name. She recommended the Romano cheese cranberry salad that was out of this world!
lovely and delicious as always, my steak oskar was perfect!
Truffles is one of my favorite restaurants in St Louis. I love their food!
