Truffles - St. Louis Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic wine list, exceptional use of truffles and truffle oil in dishes as the name would imply. Great service starting from the hostess all the way through the end of the evening. Good, not great value for food but an enjoyable ambiance fit for special occasions or everyday dining alike.
Horrible experience do not waste your time here. Service was terrible, waited more than 25 minutes and the waiter never even came to the table before we left. The restaurant was definitely not crowded at the time. Complained to manager who was arrogant and blamed it on me stating they did not think we were in a hurry. The worst service I have ever had, good luck.
We have visited Truffles several times in the past and had excellent meals. Our recent visit this week was a disappointment. We were seated at a table right in front of the kitchen door, which totally killed the mood of our romantic dinner out. My husband's duck entree was very tasty. I ordered the double pork chop and found it full of fat and seasoned with too much salt (on top of what no doubt was a brined piece of meat). Not sure we'll rush back.
Well prepared high quality, flavorful food.. knowledgeable waitpersons. But a good “steakhouse” not very inventive. Fun atmosphere, good dinner spot supportive of quiet conversation. Reservation was made two weeks in advance and there were many open tables, but the two women (our party) got the table by the kitchen entry.
Really enjoyed our dinner. The menu is small enough that it doesn't take long to read through the options but you still have a good variety. The gumbo was very tasty too start. Our entrees were both cooked well. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly to order and the duck was very moist. The room filled around us but it wasn't too loud to enjoy our conversation. Great service as well.
Each one of our party of four ordered a different entree ( two were specials), and everyone was very happy! Fish and meat cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive, so it was easy to find great pairings for everything at the table. Service was attentive and informed. Appetizers and desserts were wonderful, too.
The dining room is large and when it's full, it can get a little noisy. Not a problem unless you're trying to have a quiet dinner. The only recommendation I would have for ambiance is to turn down the overhead music in the dining room.
A fabulous meal and evening! Can't wait to go back.
A very pleasant surprise. An OpenTable recommendation. I purposely didn't do much up front research wanting no up front expectations. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. We totally enjoyed the experience. I enjoy quieter restaurants so you can have a pleasant conversation without raising your voice. Truffles is perfect for that and still provides enough atmosphere to keep it pleasant. The wine list is obviously one of the key reasons to visit this restaurant. It's out of this world. You would be hard pressed not to find something to your liking. Everyone is able to provide great advice as well. We are definitely returning.
The restaurant has now raised its corkage fee to $35 which is the highest in St. Louis. It is more than a little ridiculous. I know the restaurant is trying to drive people to their wine list but the corkage will cause us to frequent other restaurants and not Truffles.
Let me start by saying the steak was fabulous. The pork was juicy. That's where it ends. The sides were unimaginative. The sauces average. The service was excellent. All dishes were served at once. The interior is I desperate need of updating. The tables were so crowded together that all of us at the table were being bumped throughout our meal. Disappointing experience for the money I paid
This was our third visit to Truffles and this time everything was the same as it has been in the past. Excellent and attentive service, superb wine selection, tasty food selections and a lovely atmosphere. The only drawback I can point to is the size of the stuffed lobster tail portion. It was on the small side when I gazed upon others that ordered the same.
This is something I think I can overlook as the company I was with very much enjoyed their food and saw no issues.
Always a great meal at Truffles. Very consistent and quality. I was glad to hear expanded dinner hours include Sunday & Monday. We will miss having Truffles as a lunch option but very nice to have the expanded dinner hours. Still have the option to get lunch at The Butchery. Maybe you can add a few of the lunch menu favorites to the Butchery menu.
Great dinner with friends. Perfect food and presentation, great atmosphere, very good service (the restaurant was crowded so it was a little slow), excellent wine choices. We've long thought ruffles was one of the best restaurants in St. Louis and last weekend's visit confirmed it.
Truffles is one of our favorite St. Louis restaurants (maybe our favorite). The staff is what restaurants is supposed to be like, but is so rare. The menu is extraordinary and the wine list is one the city's most extensive. The bar is a great place in its own right either before or after dinner, pre-gaming or a nightcap, you never be disappointed.
