This was our first time dining at this location.
It was great food and loved the kale aid but was frustrated because the service was slow. It seems like management could make it more efficienct for servers to take table in a certain section instead of having them all over the place. With outside dining and indoor dining there should be servers designated for outdoor diners and servers for inside diners in designated sections. Hope that makes sense.
Had lunch there yesterday for the first time post-pandemic. Two of the three people in our party got sick. One of which is very sick, requiring a visit to the emergency room. Everything about the experience was a disaster!!!
Snarky hostess, long wait after ordering before food arrived. Once the food was finally delivered the server couldn’t wait for us to be finished so they could turn the table.
Don’t go there - so many other great options in SM
Terrible service and miscommunication with the staff and waiters. So disappointed, this place used to be AMAZING. everything took ages and was less than mediocre unfortunately:/
The waitstaff was nice but the service was extremely slow. The table wasn’t cleaned properly, still had ketchup on it from the last diner. The carrots didn’t look like they were cleaned properly. Otherwise, the food was pretty good, just a very long wait time to be served.
The veggie cobb salad was good. My date's chicken sandwich was dry. The food is pricey but consistent with the area.
Had lunch with my girlfriends on a Saturday and it was lovely. We were seated inside, which was well-ventilated and had lots of natural light. Our server was great, and the food was on the healthier side, and still very satisfying.
Excellent place for a business lunch. But it is sitting outside on a fairly busy street

I go to True food all the time, but they were out of everything yesterday; and that def changes the experience and us wanting to come back to this location. This happened one other time in Santa Monica, so it makes me question next time I plan to reserve.

Severely understaffed due to Covid. Quality of food was fine but not as good as I remember. Server was incredibly kind but service was absurdly show. Will not be returning anytime soon.
From the drinks to the apps and main plates, everything tasted AND looked delicious! The staff were great and the ambiance was comfortable and pleasant.
We arrived when the restaurant opened on Sunday. We were seated outside near a heater, so it was nice and cozy and the weather was very nice. The food was excellent and the service was great.

Although my waitress properly wrote down my drink order as vodka with lime in a martini glass, the bartender made it a martini with vermouth and I had to send the drink back and had to wait 20 minutes before the drink was remade properly because the bartender was too busy waiting tables. Completely understaffed and ill-equipped to handle servicing us properly. We had not been to this restaurant for a couple of years and felt quite surprised at the decline in service. Additionally for having charged $26 for salmon the portion was extremely small and very little perception of value. My husband’s lasagna portion was very small as well.
Staff was great. Very attentive. Food was very good.
The food was not great, did not have much taste at all and they were missing lots of things on their menu.
I used to love this place and the last couple of times I went, it's been a disappointment. My husband literally said as we left, "What happened to them?" It's not just the pandemic--things were going downhill before then. I had to send my (clearly microwaved) casserole back because it wasn't hot enough, we got separate menus with different items on them, neither of the two heat lamps they tried to use worked . . . the sweet staff was trying their hardest but they were inexperienced and there just doesn't seem to be anyone at the helm. I think I'm done going there.

I'm gluten & dairy-free and there's a lot to choose from on the menu. Recommend the charred cauliflower & shrimp tacos!

I think they are just ramping back up post COVID. It took 20 minutes to get water, another 15 for drinks, and 10 more to order food. Over 30 minutes to order food is just tedious. We love this restaurant and will come back, but the service was painful.

Yes, it was Mother’s Day. It was very busy. Even with reservations, we waited 30 mins for our table. Food took over an hour to arrive. We were there for almost 3 hours. Not completely their fault, as they were slammed. But the food wasn’t great like usual. It was advertised as Mother’s Day brunch, but the “brunch”
Items were only a few menu items. Lesson learned for next year.
Love True Food and their food is truly fresh and fabulous. It was Mother's Day and it was pretty chaotic for staff and customers. Definitely had a difficult time adjusting to a busy sunday. Felt badly for staff - our waiter was great but all our food came out at the same time. We love this place and I guess expect more since the service has been impeccable in the past but all is forgiven with Edamame Dumplings!!

Mother’s Day experience could not have been worst. Arrived at 11:45 and we had to wait 10 minutes for them to sit us down. The service was AWFULLY bad… they took 1:15 hours to bring our food! At the end the discounted us the bill for the wait, but had a very tough time waiting so long and chasing our waitress! It’s Mother’s Day, of course it will be busy so they were not prepared at all!

We frequent True food often. I know it was a very busy Mothers Day and they were swamped. Our reservation was for indoor and they said they could only put us outside 20 min past our res time. We were the first table out at mall entrance, not really part of the restaurant and we didn't dress for outdoors and it was chilly. Our heater was out if propane, asked several times with no one to change it so no heater. It took 45 minutes for anyone to say hello for drink order. drinks took 20 more minutes which was coffee and no one ever brought cream, apparently they were out. whole milk was brought about 20 minutes once coffee was cold. It took 1 hour and 15 to get our hummus appetizer and about 1 hour 45 to get our brunch. Pancakes were terrible and cold, banana pancakes just had a few bananas on top of very cold and dry pancakes. it took almost 2 hours and 30 min to get coffee 1 appetizer and 4 entrees, 2 of which were just a couple pancakes. Worst Mother's Day brunch and restaurant experience ever.

I booked on Open table for Mother’s Day. They left me a message to confirm. I called them back and they left me on hold for 10 minutes. I took a picture of my wait time. I called back and spoke to Jessica who put me on hold to speak to the hostess who never answered. She didn’t apologize, in her annoyed tone, she decided to take down my name. On the day of the reservation, we called because we were running late and would be there in 5 mins. They said no problem because we called. Arrived and was told our table was given away and we would have to wait 15 minutes. Btw I had a 2 year old and 8 year old with me so waiting is not great, plus they told us on the phone everything was good. There were about 10 other people waiting outside w the same problem. We finally sat down and ordered food right away. It took an HOUR to get our food - with kiddos and we ordered everything the moment we saw they waiter. They are doing a lot of take out and it seems as the kitchen and hostess are extremely overwhelmed. We are locals. We’ll be staying away until they figure out how to manage things.

Healthy food. Good sized portions. Service was spotty and the facility didn’t feel sanitized sufficiently.

We enjoyed the food but the staff and manager were the BEST. Making a great experience for customers in challenging times. Even being short-staffed. Hope the rest of the people choose to come back to work soon!
We absolutely love going to TruFood and are thankful that they are back open! The food was amazing....as always! The team members are incredibly nice and responsive. Felt very comfortable!

They changed their menu taking off the beverage, vegetable plate & main course panang curry bowl I used to get. Said no onions & no dairy, took a while for food & had to change soup after first being told no onion in it but there was. Server had to snatch it back from runner. Ordered cauliflower instead which came in hot plate but was cold upon biting into it. Main course salad came after wait with blue cheese in it, ate half & left the rest after not wanting to send a second dish back & being hungry. Left a good tip for server as not a lot of tables full & these folks need to earn a living but will not bother to go back.
Great service food was good but not hot enough.
No atmosphere I have been to other TFKs with much better ambience
