True Food Kitchen - Austin
Needed a restaurant close to a hotel downtown that a friend was staying. I Googled the hotel address and restaurant's close by and True Foods showed up . Location was perfect for destination spot. From the time we walked in, seated, introduced to server, good selection drinks, a variety of good food, everything was very satisfactory.
We ended up being there 3hrs as we were catching up with our friend in town. We never felt rushed out. It was a really pleasant Sunday afternoon for being impromptu and not knowing what to expect.
It's a casual environment with a happy, healthy vibe.
Food was wonderful as always. Our server Chris made our experience even better.
LOVE True Food Kitchen! The food is wonderful.
We have been to both locations in Austin and both were great.
I was miffed that Opentable contacted me about "missing my reservation" at the downtown location yesterday when in fact I WAS THERE and gave my name etc. I am always very careful about canceling reservations when we cannot make it. Thank You.
Bland and uninspiring, but not bad food. Once I realized it was Dr. Weil restaurant, I knew it was too healthy for my tastes! Dessert was good
I've been to True Food Kitchen many times and like the restaurant a lot. The food is usually very good. This last time I had a Cauliflower Polenta dish which I didn't like. The service is friendly but very uneven. Overall, I highly recommend the place because most things on the menu are very good tasting and everything is pretty healthy.
wife and son shared a salad and a pizza, both were very good. I had a salad very average and a quinoa bowl - not very good. I was disappointed because in the past everything was very good. Maybe there was too big a crowd there.
I love the food here. It's always very fresh and healthy. This happened to be a very busy day and the kitchen seemed to be overwhelmed.
We arrived early for our reservation and the hostesses were very nice and seated early. Our waitress was great: friendly, but not too friendly, offered great suggestions, timely with our food, taking our order, and checking back with us. Love celebrating at True Foods!
I truly love True Food but with the loud music people only talk louder. It's unfortunate. But I must say that the staff really knows great customer service... everyone from hostess to waitstaff. Excellent customer service. : ) Also, was sitting next to a family who ordered salmon and it was so smelly, I mean like in a very bad way and I'm surprised they ate it, it was very uncomfortable. Not sure what's up with that. Definitely old salmon.
Great food and atmosphere. Loved it
The staff is always friendly, the food fresh and delicious and we love the Seaholm vibe with people walking from the hike and bike trail and various shops!
Great food as always. Our server seemed like she didn’t particularly want to be there. Her peers were far more attentive. Just the small things like water refills, bar drinks arriving before food. This is not the usual but worth noting.
This experience was different than past ones. While waiting on our reservation, we kept being confused with other guests - twice. One time, we were told our table was ready only for someone else to correct the hostess that the table wasn’t for us. When we were seated, our table was completely wet. We had to flag down a waiter to wipe it down so that we could put our menus down. Then you were out of kale guacamole, not that big of a deal but at this point, the experience wasn’t going in the right direction. Our waiter was pretty cold to us and took forever to deliver the check. Then right before we left, a manager came over and said she heard that we never received our food. We had, but the whole experience was just off. Hoping it was an isolatied experience.
A little slow this time and one of the entrees was 10 minutes behind the rest. Love this place so hoping it was an anomaly.
We eat at this place almost every week. Consistently good food and service with lots of healthy (but still yummy) options. Good spot to take young kids and there is a common area in front of the restaurant where they can run around afterward.
Food is always excellent. Music and ambiance makes conversation challenging.
15 to 20 mins before anyone stopped at our table....for menus, water, orders, anything....
A little pricey for everyday, but excellent for a special occasion. beautiful interior, unique menu, the food was delicious!
Really enjoyed the new spring introductions to the menu that we ordered! More gluten free options than ever!!!!! Cocktails as always were delicious and refreshing! Can't wait for our next True Food's meal!
All was perfect
I was a party of four and we were all delighted. Just a bit hard to talk but we made do. The food was FANTASTIC and I should have asked our server for her name. She was wonderful. The only disappointment was that their delightful t-shirts were not available for sale on-site.
Always love going to True Food. The food is fresh and delicious!!
My first time to True Food Kitchen and I will definitely be going back!! Food was excellent, as was the service. We ate outside and were surrounded by nice laid back people that both had their dogs! Just loved everything about the restaurant!!
For the price the food quality is not that great. The service was poor, we were waiting for about 10 minutes before our drinks came out. They kept getting the tables mixed up and we tried to order pizza but the oven was broken, 5 minutes later someone else was able to order a cheese pizza. The only good thing was their tea and the ambiance. Otherwise you can find better food for a cheaper price in so many other places in Austin.
Once again our meals were forgotten. But to True Food’s credit they comped our entree’s. We used to go weekly, but over the past months we have found the service has taken a substantial nose dive.
It pains me to say this was the worst dining experience I have ever had at True Foods. I will think twice before trying this location again. Salmon was served unusually rare and pizzas were unevenly cooked. Waitress told me the salmon was served medium; but I eat the salmon at all of my prior visits and it was indeed rare. The manager was nice and my salmon was comped. But the food quality did not seem on par with prior visits.
One of our consistent favorites when in Austin.
Amazing food and great service! One of my favorite places for an enjoyable and delicious experience.
Amazing as always, True Foods is a rare restaurant that consistently hits all marks on food, service and other categories. Keep it up!
True Food has a wide variety of menu options that will satisfy any preferences and dietary restrictions. The food is very high quality, cocktails are hand crafted and the restaurant is beautifully designed with a great patio.
We had vegetarian dishes, all absolutely delicious.
One of our favorite go-to's in Austin. Love that they have a variety of vegan, GF, and paleo options, a full bar, covered patio, kids' menu, and accept reservations. Outstanding service and delicious food. Can be a bit loud, though - not recommended for people who prefer quiet dining experiences and intimate conversations.
great food, great ambience. Our server was amazing. I didn't get her name, but she was, again, amazing.
It was our first time eating here. OMG! Everything was amazing with the food, people and the environment. We will be coming back again and again. Thank you!!!
We have come 3 years for Easter Sunday. (We have also come other times)....We appreciate very much that they take reservations. It’s a busy time for the servers.
The noise level could be improved with things that help absorb the noise acoustically.
We appreciate that you cater to many different food requirements. Both my daughter and daughter in law need gluten free items, so thank you!
Yes. I really appreciate the emphasis on quality ingredients prepared creatively. Our server was knowledgable and very friendly. Great experience!
food quality and taste were great, however portion sizes seem to get smaller. Wait staff definitely did not want to be there. Poor training on staff, waters were never refilled, after serving the food we were never asked if everything was ok with food. Definitely an underwhelming experience, unfortunately. Very limited brunch options.
All-around great experience. Leaning to upscale, yet relaxed and unpretentious, and easily a place to return to frequently.
Perfect! I love this place!!
True Kitchen is one of our favorite stops when we are looking for something a little more upscale and healthy. The atmosphere and food never disappoint. The service this time left something to be desired. The waitress more than likely had too many tables and was not overly engaging. She mentioned a wine special where they had close out wines from this past season. When asked what they were, she said they were are all varietals, but provided no names of the either the vineyard or designation. She seemed also miffed that one would ask. About 10 minutes later she returned with a scrap of paper that had just the vineyard listed with no idea if it was a white red or what was on the label. A huge disservice to people that enjoy wines. I guessed and fortunately it was an awesome bottle of wine for $30 that paired really well with the Lasagna Bolognese...
