Trofi Restaurant - Doubletree by Hilton Kansas City - Overland Park
Just shared Valentine's Day dinner with some friends here. The french onion soup was excellent. We all ordered the filet cooked medium and the steaks were cooked perfectly but were under seasoned. I couldn't taste the wine sauce either. The steak was still good, just not five stars worthy. Service was awesome. I believe Stefania was our waitress and she was lovely!
Horrible service, rude, aggressive and incompetent servers. Took 1:30 hours to bring us the wrong order, no apologies
We had to change our Valentine's Day dinner schedule and found Trofi on our Opentable app. Once we realized it was located in the Double Tree Hotel - it immediately brought back memories of when we were dating over 25 years ago. It seemed only appropriate that we should celebrate here. The surf & turf selection was scrumptious -- 4 shrimp, large filet, harvest vegetables, new potatoes. We started with a caesar salad and ravioli and ended with cheese cake and chocolate cake. What a wonderful selection and so very delicious. Our waiter was prompt, friendly, and kept our drinks filled. The manager stopped by to check in on us. Everyone was so friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in until we left. We'll be back.
The food was very good as was the service. The staff was pleasant and were right there to take our order as well as plates when we finished. They filled the water goblets as well as coffee and tea. The only thing this was not five star was the atmosphere. Just not top notch like Chaz or Sullivan’s.
Unfortunately, this is a typical hotel restaurant. Think of food you would get at
a 1000 people convention luncheon. Cool mashed potatoes, cool green beans,
short ribs more fat than meat. Gave it a try and the menu looked decent, but alas,
it's just not very good.
The service was great but the food was just ok. We attended the restaurant week and order from the restaurant week options. We had the spare ribs lunch portion. It had quite a bit of fat and it was a small portion. The best part of the meal was the service and the signature doubletree hotel chocolate chip cookie.
We went to Trofi for lunch on Restaurant Week, all of the items on the menu for that special event sounded good but my wife and I both got the short rib lunch. The food was excellent, well presented, and the portion was large for a lunch. The service was great, the dining area was attractive, and it was quieter than the other restaurants we went to that week. We wouldn't know about Trofi if it wasn't for Restaurant Week but we will be going back.
Was very good. Service was very good. Friendly.
Will return .
Friendliness of all the staff was amazing. Ambience was lovely. Value was amazingly good. The restaurant must have lost money on the deal. The presentation was imaginative and beautiful. The taste was excellent. Thanks for a great experience.
KC restaurant week. Was just okay.
Foods were great and we used the restaurant week deal so it was nice ! But the waitress seemed not happy and didn’t contact with us well and she might’ve been talking to other waitress as we got the glance from the other waitress .. I think they wanted us to leave ..
The restaurant week menus was great. We had excellent food. They seemed short-staffed, do were not terribly prompt, but very nice server. I checked the regular menu on the way out and was a bit shocked at their regular prices, but it is a hotel restaurant.
The food was good and a quiet atmosphere. The dessert was especially nice.
This was a very pleasant surprise. Had a hard time deciding what to order for restaurant week, as several of the items were tempting. Got the shrimp cocktail, fried chicken sandwich, and cheesecake. Everything was great, and good portions. Would definitely return.
The food was good, the service was excellent! The ambiance was ok. I would recommend Trofi restaurant - Doubletree by Hilton, Overland Park, KS to everyone
We were not impressed with the Christmas brunch buffet. Service was poor. It was supposed to come with a free mimosa, which was never offered to us. We had to ask for water refills. Our bill was brought to us when we were barely done with our first plates. Oh, and they tried to charge us an extra 100.00 for the experience. Food was just ok. Most of the hot food was hot when it first came out. If you didn’t get it right then the sternos did not do a good job keeping it hot. The muffin under my eggs Benedict was so hard I couldn’t cut it at all. We won’t be back.
Bartender was awesome. Super friendly..It was my bf and I and we really enjoyed our xmas eve. She made great drinks was very enjoyable to get to know. WE will be back. BUT sad to see those parking meters in front of hotel. BOOO Hopefully you will be validating your dinner guests parking.
Very quiet. Good service but seemed a bit pricey for a lunch menu. Food was very good!
Service and staff were pleasant and attentive. The food wasn’t memorable. We went a couple of years ago and enjoyed that visit very much. This time the food seemed just Golden Corral level, which is fine, but not at $40 a person. We won’t be returning.
Arrived early for reservation but mgr seated us immediately. Drinks served just as quickly. Server advised us of specials and we ordered promptly. Selections were even better than described and pricing was very good.
We’ve been to Trofi’s several times and always received great service and well prepared meals. Very very good for a hotel restaurant.
Good ribs, good value
We missed having the omelet station on the buffet. Also, wished they had biscuits & gravy. They were out of sparkling wine so we couldn’t order a mimosa.
We waited at the reception desk for 10 mins. until someone seated us (even though very few patrons in the restaurant). Then we waited an additional 20 mins. until a server even came over to our table and asked for drink orders! Service was not up to par and our server was not very attentive.
Crab cake was lukewarm in the center. The short rib was tough. Server brought desert before she cleared the entree plate. It was not satisfactory lunch.
Food was great! Our server was excellent, but our food took way too long to get.
I went to the Christmas Day buffet. I think it was around $40/person. The food was cafeteria quality. Rubbery, overcooked meat. Cold items like salmon and various salads were not kept cold (not on ice, just served in a bowl on the buffet table). Everything was left out a little too long and had that dried out look/taste. Desserts tasted like they were made from mixes.
To be fair, this review pertains to Trofi's Christmas buffet, which was not served in the restaurant. While it was well organized and the service was very good for a buffet, the food was terrible. Trofi would have been better off to not have their name associated with the event. It being the first time I ever ate at the restaurant - although it wasn't actually at the restaurant - I will likely never try the actual restaurant. Far too expensive for this poor quality of food. Unfortunate, because we hoped we had found a new go-to restaurant.
This was Christmas day and was in the ball room so I really can't say how the restaurant is.
The restaurant was great & the food was very good. The people were very warm and especially accommodating considering after Open Table screwed up the reservation. We had made reservations for 7 and when we arrived Open Table had only made it for 4. Thank God the hotel had room for us & helped save our very special family gathering from disaster. Nice Job Open Table (NOT)!!!!!!
The service & attention that we received during our time in the restaurant was top notch! The manager, Kevin, and his staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our food was also wonderful. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
This Restaurant is the old Nikko's. The decor is older. But, the appetizers, the crab cakes and the cheese plate excellent. The 7oz. Filet mignon was beyond excellent. Grilled perfectly. I got the rice as a side with a side Cesar salad. All superb. The chocolate cake awesome and fresh coffee. I cannot say enough about the quality of everything. Okay, so I have tried three similar steaks at four hotel related restaurants or in close proximity. In the last three weeks. I believe that hotel restaurants are hidden gems for food and it is true and a better value. I had filet mignon all 4oz. to 8oz. in weight. And, I had been too Grand Street cafe twice as well as Ignite the same. We like to eat out. No kids, no dirty kitchen.
The best so far Trofi! The food just exceptional. So, head to Trofi and get the filet mignon you won't regret it.
After going to Trofie's at Christmas for over 20 years, this was the worst meal we have ever had there. The food had no flavor, the choices on the buffet had been cut back. Not worth the price charged for this! It was a true disappointment!
We went for the Thanking buffet. The food was very tasty and the selection was very good.
We drove from Lee's Summit and have a reservation. We were seated immediately. I would suggest waffles or something more at the breakfast area. I didn't like all that pulp in the mimosa. The piano music was wonderful. The non-breakfast food was delicious. We will come again.
We went here for Easter Brunch. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the made to order omelets. Our waitress was super nice asking how we enjoyed the food and making sure we had mimosas and hot water for my tea.
tooo many scrambled eggs out to keep warm, no watermelon, butter too cold
not too bad really
Went here for Christmas brunch. Festive decor and live holiday music were nice touches. Wait staff was very attentive. Food was average. Liked omelet station. Seafood Newburg tasted too salty and hash brown potatoes were dried out. Desserts were all good.
