Trius Winery Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We went for Fabulicious and it was. Our only complaint...We ordered a beer to start and mentioned how we wanted to enjoy it prior to starting our tasting menu offerings with wine. Our waitress made us believe that she would take care of it and there was no need for our concern of being served before the appropriate time, but within 10 minutes our wine pairing and appetizer arrived. So there we sat with tempting food staring back at us while we tried not to rush our first beverages. :(
We were somewhat disappointed with our experience at Trius. The service is very friendly, we were seated soon after our arrival and the decor and ambiance were excellent.
We had a 3 course meal with wine pairings. Both the appetizers and desserts were quite good. One of the mains (the fish and chips) was good but the lamb shank was tough and chewy. It was also quite bland.
The wine pairings also left something to be desired. The wines we were offered as pairings were almost exclusively at the lower end of their range. The exception was a Vidal ice wine that was served with one of the desserts that was excellent. It would have been nice to have been offered their Trius 'Red' blend which is lovely or one of their wild fermentation or barrel fermentation whites.
While I really like Trius the winery, I do not plan to return to the Trius restaurant.
Everything was wonderful from the food and wine to the service. We came down for the wine club weekend, but it was also our wedding anniversary and my brother and sister-in-law (who introduced us to the wine club) have since built a new house in St.David's. I absolutely love the whole experience at the winery and especially at the Trius Winery Restaurant. I look forward to coming again next November or hopefully in the Spring as well.
The wait staff were truly exceptional. My group felt pampered when all our meals came out at once with one staff per diner. Our sommelier explained the wine and the process for pouring it - the decanter was amazing! And the food - wow! Everyone loved their meal. We have already recommended Trius to all our friends. A fantastic evening was had by all.
We enjoyed the Trius Winery Restaurant following a day in Niagara on the Lake and a tour of the winery in the late afternoon. The place is elegant, with a nice outdoor patio for the summer season. The service was a bit slow considering the few patrons, but our server was very experienced and pleasant. Our party of four ordered different entrees and appetizers and shared them. Our favorites were the duck egg, the cauliflower spinach pizza (don't be fooled by this description - it is a deconstructed plate of those ingredients with a lovely presentation) the steak and the lamb. All were beautifully presented and prepared and tasted delicious. The Trius wines were a nice compliment. We enjoyed the sparkling wine and the Trius Red. I would skip their white wine as it is not as appealing as the red. We would definitely go back.
It was our first time dining at Trius and it was a memorable and enjoyable time. Food was amazing as expected and service was wonderful. Very charm-full place but also very well put together. The menu is small but that’s a good thing because whatever does come out of the kitchen always hits the mark.
We were here in June and had the same meal when it was a share meal for 2 (farmer's feast). It was great then with not one complaint but this time as single meals it wasn't 1/2 as good. Beef was oily and tough and the fries were hard and dry. Where they placed us in the dining room was so loud the 4 of us had difficulty having any conversation.
