Triumph Grill Ratings and Reviews
Have been to this restaurant several times, in fact, first date with my now husband was here. Three of us went Saturday night before the symphony. We got there around 6:45 for 7:00 Reservations. The restaurant was only about 1/3 rd full, which should be a problem sign for the owners for a Saturday night at 7:00. We were immediately sat by a very polite hostess. It took a few minutes for someone to give us water. Finally the waitress asked us for our drink order. After waiting approx. 10 mins for drinks we flagged her down and explained we had tickets to the symphony. She became very rude stating "I wait on people in order that they come in". After that, she mocked us every time she came back "was this fast enough" "are you going to make your show". The other wait staff was very polite and friendly, the food was prepared well, she just had an attitude. (She was pregnant). This is a great location and I have always had a decent experience until this visit. It is somewhat concerning that the restaurant was only 1/3 filled at prime time and the sister restaurant (sushi place) next door had NO tables full. I hope they do something to turn around their model and remain in business.
I've been coming to Triumph Grill, prior to attending the Fox Theatre, for the last 2/3 years. This was the first time I noticed genuinely sub par service. I was disgusted with Kitchen Servers passing hot plates of food across the tables and not knowing who ordered each entree. Patrons had to stop conversations to reach for meals and then having to shuffle plates around the tables. This is not acceptable in my opinion. How hard is it for a Kitchen Server to walk around the table and place your entree in front of you on the table? Serve from the left - remove from the right. I've only had compliments for this establishment in the past - I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
We went to the Triumph Grill for dinner before a concert at The Sheldon. We've gone there before in conjunction with Sheldon concerts, as well as shows at The Fabulous Fox and Powell Hall. Within easy walking distance of all parking facilities in the area, including those at The Sheldon and The Fox. Never had to walk more than 10 minutes or so. Always enjoyable. They've never failed to have a table immediately available with a reservation, if not already prepared for us when we arrived. Food is great, certainly not ordinary, and moderately priced. Staff is always friendly and efficient.
Nick, our waiter was great, even though it was super busy - he was really attentive. Food was great - loved the duck. And onion rings are to die for.
Reason for the poor rating? I was charged $2 for ice in my bourbon - but I wasn't told until I said, "I think my drink rang up wrong. It's $10 instead of $8". Yes, I can afford $2 but I don't like being ripped off. $2 for frozen water in a beverage. REALLY?
I won't go back. Lots of choices of where I eat and I've asked lots of people and NO ONE has heard of this charge.
How much are they making by taking advantage of customers? that $2 adds up for them. Oh and yes it was a large ice cube, one.
Food was fantastic!! First steak I'd had in 6 months and it was prepared to perfection!! A.J. was our waiter and I always get nervous when waiters "memorize" aka (don't write it down?!) but I was grateful that after he turned in the order he came back just to "double-check" how I wanted my steak prepared. Very appreciative of that little detail. Great experience all the way around!! Glad your restaurant is soo close too! Thanks again TGrill!
I dined at this established 4 years ago and the experience as well as food was wonderful. This experience contributed to the decision to revisit the restuarant. During my recent experience we were seated and greeted promptly which was great however the rest of the evening turned out to be mediocre. When ordering drinks, we were told that several selections of wine were not available and all iced tea flavors were not availalbe even though they were listed on the menu. We also discovered that not all of the food selections were availalble so we had to make alternative selections. The food service itself was slow and when the food was delivered it was actually cold. For example, the fries were cold and the tempura asparagus were cold as well as soggy. We did not mention this to the server since we were late for a performance we were attending that night. Overall, this dining experience was disappointing and I doubt we will come back.
I have dined at Triumph some time ago, and wanted to enjoy another experience there. Open Table took my reservation and sent a confirmation number. Arrived in the area, as we had tickets to the Fox Theatre. Parked, walked two blocks to the restaurant, only to find on a Sunday, Triumph closed at 3 pm. Our reservations were for 4:30 pm. We were very disappointed we were not able to enjoy our dinner there. OpenTable, you should know the hours of the establishments for which you take reservations. Hope to try the restaurant another time.
Food was average, duck was overdone. Of note, attached bar closed at 10 pm, on Saturday night! We stayed at attached hotel to this eatery, and after a show at the Fox Theater found this out much to our dismay.
Breakfast the next morning was acceptable but slow with only one overburdened waiter in the entire place.
We were very pleased with the wait staff, food and drinks. The menu offered a variety of choices from great salads & burgers to specialty dishes. Our only complaint was being seated in the bar area, which was somewhat noisy. I expected a little bit better seating especially since we had reservations. It was very conveniently located and a 5 min. walk to The Fox Theater. We will definitely go again.
While the food was good, the service was lacking. There were only a few guests in the restaurant, yet we had to constantly look for our waiter, starting from the beginning, when he thought we were waiting on another guest, even though our reservation was for 5 and we were all there; he never asked us. We had to look for him to take our order, for salt & pepper (don't like the new trend that you have to ask for them), refills, bill, etc.
We made a reservation for dinner before a concert at The Sheldon. Thoigh we came a little before the usual dinner hour and not many customers were there yet, they had a table ready and waiting for us when we arrived - including silverware, napkins and menus already laid out. We have come here before while attending events at The Fabulous Fox, Powell Symphony Hall and Chaifetz Arena. Great midtown location. Within easy walking proximity of anything in the Grand Center area, including public parking facilities. Nice, upscalish atmosphere. Comfortable. Great service. Great food, though not an extensive menu. Kind of a high-class bar menu. A fair amount of sound, healthy nutrition available. Our server, A.J., was friendly, amiable and efficient.
The food was quite decent. I do recommend the pretzel bites appetizer. The bison burger was also very good. And, the sweet potato fries were quite different and tasty.
Our waitress wasn't all that friendly. She also charged us for a drink that was sent back.
Overall, the food was good. And, this is about the only place near the Fox that's decent for dinner. The food is a bit over priced for what you get though.
I met up with friends before going to the theatre. I was able to be seated even though my entire party was not present. The food was very good and the service was excellent despite our waitress also serving as hostess. This is a good restaurant in a good location for visiting before being to the Fox Theatre.
The food was good, nothing too special. The service was mediocre at best. Our waiter provided us our first drink and some water but never returned for refills on either. He also took our order but never returned to check on how it was.
I do have to say we were seated promptly at our reservation time, and our food was prompt, though my salad barely made it out before my entree.
I'm not sure I would recommend this place to people in the future
This was our third visit. Went for Sunday brunch prior to attending the symphony nearby. While it was a buffet, staff was still very attentive and food was excellent. Tables and seating were set up to allow good flow while not feeling crowded, even though lots of people were having brunch that day. Highly recommend, primarily for the food (it is a restaurant after all!) but the casual atmosphere and great staff are notable too.
Our waiter had too many tables including a large table of very loud women. Our goup of three couldn't hear our own conversation over the other tables. We ordered drinks (wine & tea) that we didn't receive, but were on our bill (the waiter took them off when we pointed out we never got them). After taking our order the waiter didn't return to our table until 20 minutes after we had finished our meal. My friend's meal was cold. I had heard good things about the restaurant but was very disappointed and don't need to go back.
So, I'm from out of town and we went here based on the reviews from Yelp and Open Table. To start with, it wasn't busy at all, basically dead, but we figured it was still early so who knows. The drinks and soups were great! The meals were eh, it tasted like everything was originally bought frozen and was just heated up and put on a plate. Not bad, but not better than a frozen meal essentially. But as we finished our meals, my boyfriend and I saw a mouse running around. While mice aren't a huge deal to me as I have worked in the industry and know that mice go wherever they can find food, it just added to the less than stellar meal. They did comp our entrees 50% though, which I felt was appropriate! I think this place just needs some work on using fresh ingredients!
