Triple 8 China Bar & Grill
Absolutely delicious! Service was very good, been here a few times and it never disappoints. Would recommend especially if going to an event at Staples Center or LA Live.
Disappointed. After two previous good meals here, a bummer. Bland Chow Fun accidentally doused with vinegar masquerading as soy sauce (and what’s up with that?). Excessively salty/sweet Mongolian beef. Szechwan fish filets included nasty bits of aromatic pepper that crunched like bits of gravel. On the plus side our reservation was honored promptly and the servers were accommodating and professional, if a bit rushed.
This is the second time I have been here and both times have been a good experience. The location is great for any events at Staples Center and LA Live. The food is tasty and the room acoustics don't seem to overpower you.
the server was terrific... and I will most def be writing about it. I publish LAArtsOnline. very very delicious food. I would go back for sure. order the dumplings! and orange chicken!!! were to die for. and the 888 cocktail was magnificent. ha ha okay so we had a good time. go!
One of the four dishes ordered never came. They didn't seem to care.
Great meal and place
I picked this restaurant based on it's high rating and was disappointed. 1) It's a "B" restaurant, health code wise, 2) I marked in the reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary, yet it was not acknowledged, 3) waitress was definitely too attentive - was stopping by all the time to make sure we would order, 4) the wine I ordered/received was definitely not fresh, and 5) even though we spaced out ordering our appetizers and main courses, they arrived within a few minutes of each other.
I like the happy hour options and prices. Fun dishes to share. My friends liked the food but weren’t happy with the tvs everywhere. Service was very good.
We stopped here to eat before we went to a concert that night. A reservation was great because it was very crowded. The group that checked in before us was seated once we were leaving. The food was great. Since it was so busy, it was difficult to track down the waiter sometimes and it took a while before we offered drinks.
Great food quite a few choices. Every thing we ordered was delicious. Headed back in two weeks for another concert in the area.
Yummy food, great cocktails, good service, a perfect way to kick start our Saturday night!
Food was great, service was great. It will be a nice addition to our usual rotation of restaurants around the Staples Center.
XLB/hot soup dumplings. Crispy garlic lobster. Brussel sprouts. 888 peach vodka with lychee puree. House fried rice. Peking duck.
Favorite before or after any event at LA Live. Open late.
Friendly and good service. Food was very good
We have been here several times before. Never disappointed. Decent food . Quality ingredients. Attentive staff. This last time, our waiter really was outstanding.
First date which I did put in the notes but no one did anything special.
The entrees came out before the appetizer. The waiter explained that at that restaurant the food just comes out whenever it’s ready. (I don’t believe him) It took 20 minutes just to have water at the table. I asked for Mío sparkling saki and the waiter brought me Yuzu lemon. Waiter didn’t smile, wasn’t welcoming or friendly. The ambiance was cool, the food was really good. We actually left with enough to give to a homeless person on the way to the Bruno Mars concert.
I haven’t been to LA in 25 years and this was the first restaurant was the first I visited. I was not really impressed. Conversely I went to Roscoes Chicken and Waffles in South Central the next Morning and the service was excellent and so was the food. Costs less but I got the same good food and friendly service I got 25 years ago!
My only complaint is that my appetizer came with my food, it was very delicious though.
One of the options at LA Live. So many of the restaurants there are overpriced & underwhelming. The only reason they are packed is because there are so few options before a game at Staples. The food here is good, satisfactory portions & fast service. We’ll be back.
The food was above average. So it was pretty good. I had the vegetable Lo Mein and Mongolian beef dishes. Very tasty. The food came out very quick which is a plus. The server was nice and ambiance was great.
Good food. Slow service. Bathrooms poor. ............................................................I don’t have 50 words for this review but I guess you won’t accept it unless I write more.
This was not what I had expected. Service was mediocore. Our server didn't see to know when to approach us. For a Monday, it was not very busy but our server didn't check on us frequent.
The food was delicious, drinks were a tad sweet, but OK. Service was good.
Triple Eight is hands down, our new number one go-to Theatre night dining choice. The chefs preparation of our menu selections are amazing! Always so very savory and delivered hot to the table straight from the oven / grille! We love this place! Our waitress, Maribel(sp) was so memorable, super attentive and kind. We recommend to everyone!
Overall food was amazing and the amount of food was huge! It wasn’t busy but very slow service with check in to getting meals ordered to getting the check paid.
Excellent food and service! When we arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly. The staff was pretty knowledgeable about the menu and made several recommendations. One other thing to note was the contemporary and chic decorum. It's a very sleek establishment, but in a casual way. Overall the food was amazing. The only thing I was would not recommend is the calamari- it was slightly overcooked. Other than that, a must-try!
Average. Nothing outstanding to comment on. Nothing poor either
Solid Asian fusion food. Actually very delicious. Atmosphere is nothing special but in a fun area. Generous portions. Good service.
Always enjoy my meals with friends, and it's good having great food here.
Very tasty Chinese cuisine. Hip, convenient location. Reasonably priced.
Nice place to hang out with friends or a date. The bar has a limited selection of cocktails which was disappointing. The main entree that we ordered was overly seasoned. We ordered the catfish in black bean sauce andLobster. The chicken wings and calamari was good. Trendy place. Can improve on their menu, though
Amazing food and service!! Totally worth it! Super authentic chinese food!! Super fresh and fast!!
I love this place. I have been coming for close to a year and have brought many friends here. The food, cocktails and service are always excellent. The staff are always friendly and the ambience is very relaxing. great place for all kinds of occasions.
The general vibe of the place is kind of like a nicer Panda Express ...the food was good ,the service was fair and the ambience was OK ...felt like a franchise restaurant not really unique or special but what you see is what you get. A good choice for relatively fast good (not great) Chones food.
Ordered the duck rice noodles and it was delicious. Had the edemame for starter. Great taste!
Overall vibe of the restaurant was beautiful so I expected much more. The food was subpar and took quite a while for such basic items. Some items never came out and we had to ask the staff for them specifically. Unless they make some improvements I won't be going back, which is a shame because I had such high hopes for this place. Good find for late night drinks when options are limited but not a first choice. They also had a grade B from the Heath department on their window, which was posted very low and I didn't notice at first.
I went in with no expectations, it was a restaurant that had a time slot we needed but we ended up being late in the end and they still sat us. We just ordered whatever we saw that we thought would be good and boy, were we surprised at our selection. The calamari was fantastic! Our main dishes were amazing and of course, our drinks were fabulous! My party had told me what a great choice I had picked. I just picked it because they had the time slot we needed. Now that I know what to expect, I'll know to keep this little gem in mind when we go down there.
We really enjoyed it. But it's worth noting they don't validate parking anymore.
Open Table needs to update that info.
The food was amazing. The drinks delicious - go for 888 cocktail. Their signature dumplings devine. The only downside is they seemed to be short on wait staff. We tried to find someone for 15 minutes to get a 2nd cocktail.
My wife and I were waiting to go to the Faith Hill & Tim McGraw concert and we decided to go to the Triple 8 Bar & Grill Restaurant. This was our first time we ever came to the Triple 8 restaurant. The waitress was really overworked. She had too many tables to wait upon. Drinks were very slow to show up at the table. The food was there quickly, but was rather bland in the taste. We had the Orange Chicken with Chicken flavored rice, and the Jalepeno Garlic Chicken Wings. The rice was the best part. Thank you for asking about our experience.
Terrible service and rude
