Trios Bistro Toronto Ratings and Reviews
Food was outstanding - everything we ordered was perfect, tasty, and fresh. Beer choices were great and our server was attentive and awesome. This is in the Marriott hotel - we we’re going to leave but OpenTable helped us make the choice of staying. You can tell that whoever was back there in the kitchen had pride in what they were serving. Nicely done.
It was my first time at Trios Bistro. I generally find hotel restaurants to be of a high quality and enjoyable to dine at, so I came here with my husband to celebrate a belated birthday. I made the reservation on OpenTable for 7:30 PM, and arrived a few minutes early. We were escorted to a table almost immediately (to my surprise, the waiter did not ask or check for a reservation on file - I suppose it's because most tables were empty/free).
The waiter that attended to us during our stay was very professional yet warm, and also efficient. He was able to make a couple of recommendations about the menu, which I appreciated. Some parts of our meal were delicious, especially the crab cakes (came piping hot and flavourful) and the bison steak (unique choice and done well). The presentation of the food was either very attractive (as with the flourless chocolate cake) or just average (our entrees), depending on what was ordered.
We were seated in a booth that faced the "entrance" of the restaurant and the bar. I was surprised by how small the restaurant was - it was basically an area sectioned off on the main foyer, and not a separate, enclosed dining room. I found the environment cozy, with dim lighting, a scattering of tables and chairs in the middle of the restaurant and booth seats surrounding that layout. However, very few patrons were there, and so the ambiance seemed kind of "drab" for a high-end hotel restaurant.
I did specify "birthday" as the special occasion on the OpenTable booking as I was prompted on the online form, but the staff at the establishment did not allude to this annotation nor did they say/do anything special (not sure if the restaurant actually received this information or planned on doing anything with it?).
Service was alright, one particular server was a little rude with seating. I made a reservation but still got a table right next to the entrance. We requested to move to a different table and were taken to a really dark area next to the emergency exit. He however later made it up for us with better service. Food was worth it.
Went for dinner after the theatre. We were greeted by someone who tried a little too hard to be overly friendly. Great waiter. I had inquired about the soup, and he brought be a little bowl to try. So sweet. Awesome crabcakes. Ordered some flatbreads. On the menu, it did not say there was proscuitto on it. I'm a vegetarian, so they brought another order, minus the meat. Very accommodating.
Great find! The food was excellent and the service was first class. I don't understand why there aren't more people eating here. The duck special was one of the most unique and tasty meals I have ever had. The appetizers were large, beautifully presented and very tasty as well. The room is very open and finally decorated and the wait staff was very attentive.
Trios Bistro is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff always makes us feel warmly welcomed, and the service is absolutely outstanding! The food is consistently great.
They currently have a Canada 150 menu, and it's excellent. The compressed watermelon with feta is a really great, light appetizer. The mains are also excellent. But the blueberry crumble with praline ice cream is unbelievably fantastic!
Always a great spot to go for a special evening. The food is excellent and the staff very attentive.
Very well located downtown Toronto, very nice and comfortable setting within a great hotel, we recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Toronto or simply for a night out.
This is a very pleasant place for a breakfast meeting or just a meet-up with a friend, or for a lunch, as four of us enjoyed last weekend. Finding a really decent, pleasant, well-staffed restaurant of this kind for breakfast and lunch is not that easy in downtown Toronto, so I now have Trios on my list of places to meet up with friends in the daytime. I haven't had dinner there, so don't know if it's as casual then, to eat after a movie, e.g., but I will certainly try it in future.
I went with three friends for Winterlicious dinner, and it was well worth the money. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. The wine list however was okay, not an extensive selection, but for what we have for our main courses, it was certainly good enough.
To be honest, I did not have high expectations for this hotel restaurant. Trios Bistro knocked it out of the park! We had the coolest table in the dining room. Our server was gracious, attentive, and delivered impeccable service. The menu options were creative and appetizing. Our meal was superb-- I could not find any fault with the starter, main, or dessert. It was a lovely evening, one I wish to repeat!
Located in the lobby of the Marriott hotel. Best parking is one building south, underground, reasonable price, as compared to using the hotel's garage. One of few restaurants open New Year's Day near the Entertainment District. Very quiet, seemingly overlooked by the New Years' crowd. Limited menu but good range in selection and portions. Food was tasty, plates attractive, service co-ordinated for our party of four. Reasonably priced wine list. Service was excellent: prompt, attentive and courteous. I recommend.
New Year's Eve menu for an early dinner. Surf and turf was great and beef cooked perfectly . The bechamel sauce fell short though. Was far too thick almost solid. But flavours were good . The salmon with grapefruit sauce was an odd combination and went a favourite . The grilled chicken was a good choice and not overdone. Server was attentive until the end where I had to flag him down to clear plates . Desert fell short as lemon tart was too sweet and not very lemony. Pecan pie was ok but not great
Went for Christmas Dinner. Very noisy and kids running around unsupervised. Very cold & draft table. Not enough serving staff as there appeared to be one gentleman for all the tables.
Wouldn't go back again. Didn't realize the restaurant was in the lobby and not separate from the busy much travelled entranceway to the hotel and elevators.
We went there for brunch. there was no brunch menu so we chose something from the breakfast menu. The food was really good but the atmosphere was not what we expected as people staying at the hotel were having their breakfast in tracksuit pants. Not so glamorous....
What a pleasant surprise! Tried some of the trendy spots last minute while in Toronto and they were booked. I remembered there was a restaurant at the Marriott attached to the Eaton Centre and thought it might do. Well, it turned out to be just what I wanted and more! Wonderdful wild salmon cooked better than I ever have had and my husband had pot pie I think which he thought was excellent. Wine choice was spot on, service friendly and attentive and it was cozy and quiet. Perfect! I will be back in February!
We had the Summerlicious lunch. The salad, though tasty, had tired, rather than fresh and crisp, greens. The stuffed pepper was bland. Some sauce atop the filling is needed. The watermelon float was perfect.
Prosecco pouring was skimpy.
Our server seemed miffed because we needed more time to order. He did not return for 20 minutes. We almost walked out.
I have had lunch here previously a few times. This was the only poor experience.
Went there for breakfast on a long weekend but were informed that the buffet closes at 10:00 on Mondays regardless that it was a long weekend or not. The staff, however, kept the buffet open for us past 10:00am.
The buffet was not extensive but it was good quality and we had plenty of food to eat. At $29 per person for the buffet it was a little expensive but we enjoyed the restaurant. It is a very attractive (indoor only) dining room overlooking Trinity Square.
My family of 5 had our Valentine's dinner at Trios. Our server Lorenz was informative and filled with enthusiasm, engaging us and even my children in conversation. We ordered crab cakes which was well flavored and the crab meat was superb; my kids ordered chicken noodle soup split into 2, but I guess the kitchen forgot but that was ok considering how fast the split soup was brought back to our table. I ordered the Korean Taco and it was one of the tastiest I've ever tasted. My boys ordered butter chicken with rice and they were both satisfied. My husband order cod and chips and the batter of the fish was just right, not oily. The fish doesn't have that fishy taste which was good. My daughter ordered the wild salmon with blood orange and the infusion of sauce inside the salmon was not something you get to taste everyday. We tasted it since my daughter can't stop raving about it and who wouldn't!! It was amazing! Even the mashed potato is not like your typical mashed potato. My kids are requesting that we go back and have lunch some time soon. We will definitely go back. Excellent food and excellent people!
Ideal place place to rejuvenate. Very cozy, romantic ambiance especjally by the huge window pane where you can star gaze while having that candlelit dinner with a nice flute glass of Prosseco.
I commend Lorenz for a great customer service that night. Very accomodating, friendly, informative about the menu. The service is fast and acurate.Wpuld highly recommend the place to colleagues, friends and family.
Thoroughly enjoyed our winterlicious lunch. The appetizer (pear naan) was absolutely delicious. For the main course I had the white fish and quinoa and poached pear with marscapone for dessert. The service was exceptional. The chef came out to recommend a different dessert as I suffer from nut allergies. I will definitely return to this little gem.
Not good choices offered on Winterlicious menu and expensive for what was offered. The only thing I enjoyed was the dessert. Not very private - felt like I was sitting in lobby of hotel. The staff were excellent and so was the service but disappointed in food. The night before I went to Ruth Chris for $45 for excellent food and this was $35 with no comparison. Should probably of been priced at $25.00 for what was offered.
