Trio Rhode Island Ratings and Reviews
We arrived for our 5pm reservation - there was only one other occupied table. Our waitress approached asking if we wanted drinks. My grandson ordered chocolate milk; several minutes later she brought it and she asked away. Returning a few minutes later we ordered our wine and she left. Several minutes later she returned with the wine and one member of our party, who had just arrived, ordered a beer. She left and returned and chatted socially with people at another table. We called her over asking for the beer and for bread. She brought the beer in a bottle and we requested a glass. Obviously, the service was bad. It appeared they realized it, as servers would come by asking if all was ok.
While the food was fine, our experience was hampered by the poor service. It was not a busy time.
We've been to Trio multiple times and I can say I have NEVER had a meal that is less than outstanding. Menu items change often enough to make it interesting, and the ambiance is warm and inviting (especially on a rainy fall day in New England). Creative drink menu as well.
Our visit to Trio was good, but not as good as we remember. The service by our waiter left a lot to be desired, but it was very busy. He seemed to pay much more attention to a party of 5 than our party of 2. The noise level was pretty high, but not so we couldn't hold a conversation. The food was good, but something seemed to be missing. We've had awesome dinners there before and never had a complain. Would go again for another try.
Food at Trio is always outstanding and the service top notch. Their recently expanded bar area looks tempting - though it did not open until 2:30 on the Sunday we were there. This restaurant continues to be one of our favorites. Consistent, creative food in a fairly quiet atmosphere with great wine and beer selections.
The restaurant was very crowded, not your fault, but there were several consequences thereof: my mussel dish was cold when it arrived, and one person in our party received the wrong pizza. We shared our food with him, but it took a long time for the right one to appear. Manager apologetic and did not charge for the pizza. It was very noisy due to bar noise. We usually enjoy ourselves at Trio and always find the waitstaff to be courteous and helpful with lactose and gluten free choices.
This is our go to place -a neighborhood gem. Food is consistently good as are the drinks. A must try if you are in the area. Very pleasant manager, bar maids and waitstaff. They occasionlly tweak the menu. Order the grilled scallops, any of the salads, the lobster roll is outstanding. All of the grilled dishes especially the salmon are fantastic. Recommend recommend, recommend!!
Food was excellent as usual! The only thing I would say that could use improvement would be the slow service. Usually not an issue, maybe an off night? The server had mentioned that the "kitchen was a bit slow tonight " but she seemed to be aloof. We sat waiting for our check for quite a while. She was very friendly though!! I am just not into a 2 hour dinner with children on a school night, lol. Had I been with friends, I would not have minded at all.
We have been many times. Trio is ok, not too exciting, but a nice room and a good location for us. Cocktails were good and service was generally good although we were not crazy about the recommendations. She had the new salad with beets and chicken on top. The salad was ok, the chicken was dry and at $16 added to the salad price not a bargain. I had the bolognese which was too much pasta relative to protein. We noted the condition of the chicken and the waitress was accommodating, bringing us a creme brulée at no charge. That's fine, but how hard it is to keep a half chicken breast tender? We'll be back because it is convenient and pleasant, just wish it was better.
We were a table of 5 and sat outside. No waterview as the water is a couple of blocks away. Comfortable seating outside. Parking lot, could not find handicap parking near enough. Food was good but could be better. Waitress and attendants patient and polite on a very busy beautiful Saturday evening.
We had dinner here while on vacation in Narragansett and were delighted! We were seated outside on a warm sunny day. Our server was attentive and very friendly. The lobster tortelloni was just mouth-wateringly delicious, as was the warm homemade bread. The crusted cod accompanied by a light lemon risotto with baby tomatoes and arugula was done to perfection.
Three of us dined last night on the patio: it couldn't have been better...The pasta entrees were exceptional. The ambience couldn't have been better. The indoor bar with stools accommodates customers with nibbles (or more) is cozy, with but not noisy. The view from Trio takes in the setting sun over the ocean.
