Trio Restaurant - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
I ordered the Farro risotto this time and it was delicious. I will order that again. Trio's is a great neighborhood restaurant. You always know that you will find something that you will like. It is moderately priced, but it is not fast food. Everything is cooked to order, plated and well presented. Fine dining at an affordable price.
We were a group of 10 with 2 children, we all enjoyed our food. I had the lobster ravioli with some extra parmesean cheese grated on top.... If not in a restaurant, I would have licked the plate! The calamari also was some of the best I've had. I was visiting Charlotte from NJ, but next time I'm there I will definitely go back to Trio!
We have been going to Trio for about 15 years. The staff is largely the same. What does that say? This locally owned gem beats those chains by miles and miles. Their specials change monthly, so check the site under "menus" to see the specials each month. Always something fantastic on there for most tastes. The bar is usually busy with locals; a lot of times the same locals! But they are happy to include newbies into the group and are friendly and welcoming.
We like to sit "in the pit", where there are just 3 booths across from the brick pizza oven.
Brunch always offers faves like pancakes (only on Sunday and different each week) and benedicts, but I love the breakfast pizza with spinach, fontina, scrambled eggs...yum! Michelle makes the best mimosas and poinsiettas (champagne and cranberry); it's like she just whispers "juice" over the champagne. If you like curry, you've got to try the Mulligatawny soup. WOW. And the quiches are succulent no matter the fillings. Delicious.
Lemon salmon with creamed cauliflower and grilled asparagus is my go to for lunch or dinner; you'll never miss the carbs, promise!! My husband loves the Trio meatloaf and it looks delicious, but so much food! 2 full meals' worth at least. If you're a salad person, the Killer dressing lives up to its name!
Service is friendly and never rushed. Servers are knowlegeable and can answer any question on the spot. Just after church lets out there's a wait. Always. So go early or after 1 unless you don't mind waiting. Or just go on Saturday!
every month ,a few of us [and by few -i mean we are down to 5] from the 1952 grad class of old O'Donahue school go out to luch and trio's is our favorite place--the staff is wonderful--the food delicious- excellent price value and we can hear each other talk without shouting.1 outstanding feature is we are made to feel important and appreciated---and this must be a big plus because we have been getting together for quite a good many years and our 1st choice is trio-and because of the positive experiences, all of us come here for other occasions too
I was disappointed in Trio. I thought it was a upscale restaurant however it is a family diner. Perhaps if I had gone in knowing that I would have not been as disappointed. I had the meatloaf, dry and over cooked. My friend had the salmon which she enjoyed very much. so, all in all, Trio is a family eating place, not one to impress a date!
I worked with the staff to set up a surprise 75th birthday dinner for my wife and they did a great job of seating us in a quiet area, helping with the surprise. Our server was attentive, took pictures, respectful and competent. The food was excellent, although not quite foodie level but neither were the prices! Great value and it was a perfect experience.
Trio is our favorite restaurant to go to. They have great food for a good price. The menu has something that everyone in our big family can enjoy. We go out to eat every Saturday night around the Charlotte area and out of all the restaurants we have been to, we still love Trio best.

Stephanie our waitress was a great server, french onion soup is flavorful and everyone fought over the puffed pastry that comes on top of it, this is the only place I ever order it .
Our table liked their entrees, literally menu has something for everyone. I prefer the main dining room, has a more open feel than the booths up front by the hostess station.
The service was outstanding very efficient and friendly she did not hover but was available when needed. The food was very good, the salad small greens was fresh and tasty, the filet mignon that the four of us had at the table was very tasty, flavorful and tender although it was a teeny bit oven-cooked in some areas. The smashed potatoes with Gouda cheese we're really delicious and asparagus were cooked to a perfect point. The brownie was also moist and nutty, with icecream (not vanilla but delicious ) and cream, really yummy. They don't play loud music so we could actually have a conversation but this is not a place to dress-up more to be comfortable. We will return.
Always go to Trio for Queensfeast, was a little disappointed that for the first time a glass of wine was not included in the beverage selection. The filet selection always had a crab cake with it and that was not included this time either, but I do realize Trio I'm sure is trying to keep the cost down to $30.
