Trio - Puerto Vallarta Ratings and Reviews
Consistently good. Both food and service. Do ask for help with the wine. They have some lovely Mexican wine choices available. Loved the red snapper. The rabbit dish was exceptional. And most dishes available as half portion; more than enough! Start with a salad and calamari. Yum!! Always our first and last stop in PV.
We have been there before and loved their seafood soup. But it was different this time and not as good. I ordered a shrimp dish and the smallish shrimp were tough. I was expecting something more in the line of shrimp in butter and garlic like the menu stated. My husband’s New York steak was fatty and tough too!! Very disappointing meal overall.
Traveling in Puerto Vallarta on vacation. Trio was highly recommended by two couples who have been coming to town for over two decades.
The staff is highly attentive, the menu is filled with fine dining classics adapted for the local food. Both appetizers were inventive takes on classics and our entrees were surprisingly great!
We go to Trio at least once a trip when we come to Puerto Vallarta. It's upscale, nice and quiet and a great view from the upstairs patio. But the food has gotten to be okay instead of wonderful these days. I had risotto with chicken and my wife had the fresh fish filet, and it just didn't seem to have the wonderful kick it's had in the past. I'm not willing to write Trio off, but for the price - which is among the highest in PV - it should be memorable.
I have been to Trio many times over the years. We were there for Christmas and New Years Eve for the special menus this year.
The Christmas one was good but the New Years menu was the best meal that I had ever had anywhere from start to finish. The service was impeccable and friendly. Diego our server was absolutely the very best.
We went back again for the third time in a week tonight (January 02)
Diego once again was our server. And again exceptional service.
The maître de is exceptional. Great sense of humour and really on the ball.
The” fois gros “ (sp) was exceptional. The very best ever.
The filet of beef with a phenomenal sauce was tender and extremely tasty.
The rack of lamb was truly the best anywhere.
To cap it off the apple strudel was mouth wateringly good.
All in all, one of the very very best places for exceptional food and service in Puerto Vallarta
We always eat at trio when in Puerto Vallarta. They are very consistently good food Italian with a Mexican tinge. I highly recommend the fresh seafood dishes as it’s on the ocean and super fresh. The waitstaff is very busy so not so attentive but suffice. The maitre d is grouchy and not very friendly but you will like the food. Roaming mariachi trio is fun. Defiantly don’t miss trio
We went based solely on Open Table reviews and we thought it was a lovely place. Very good service, food was wonderful and we were upstairs which was great for conversation as there were only a few tables filled. Downstairs was more lively but we were happy up there. Desserts were great as well. And the wine they recommended was from Chile and very good. Would definitely go back.
The restaurant has a really good vibe and the decor was unexpected. It is like stepping into a restaurant in Venice. The best part is that the food is awesome! The chef prepares really authentic dishes using local ingredients. The drinks and wine list is pretty reasonable. The downstairs is good for small groups (< 5 people) and the upstairs is good for larger groups. They also have a cozy third level, but it's a hike getting up there.
We have always enjoyed our meals at Trio. Easily one of the top 3 restaurants in puerto Vallarta. That said, I was a bit disappointed as they had a set menu for Christmas Eve. (They have not in the past; this was our 4th year to go. As well, it was not listed on the website or on OpenTable). I had to work outside the set menu, which was tough on a busy night and resulted in some delays.
However, we will definitely go back, just not on a holiday night without specifically speaking to them first.
We just love this restaurant. It is always spot on. Great food, great service and more importantly, we love the staff. Jose and Carlos as well as the waiters make you feel so welcome. We have been there so many times, we feel like they are family. Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
By far one of the top three restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. Fantastic service and a great bar with some of the most sought after tequilas as well as great Martinis. The food is allways spectacular and varied. Most with an European flare and a touch of the sea. This is a not to be missed Restaurant. The wine list is espectacular and the sommelier knows his stuff. Special wines from a hidden cellar on request. Reservations on weekends a must. NO TANK TOPS ALLOWED.
