TRIO - Four Seasons Austin Ratings and Reviews
The chef made a fantastic meal for out one year anniversary topped it off with some delicious deserts , he even made it extra special at the end by making us a great anniversary dessert of Truffles and chocolates with berries. Our waiter did a great job with recommending food and wine it made the decision making very easy. The noise level was a bit loud as there was two parties going on it was a bit off-putting considering we were celebrating our one year anniversary and just wanted a quiet romantic dinner, at least we know it's a popular place. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and I will definitely be back for a second year anniversary, the Tomahawk Steak is calling our name.
Made brunch reservations to celebrate my wife's birthday based on all of the great reviews. We live in Austin and were not staying at the hotel. Wonderful brunch selection. All of the standard brunch fare presented nicely, as well as a few extras that you'd expect from the Four Seasons. The waiter was pretty rude to us. He acted put out when we asked for anything, "forgot" things a few times and was downright insulting at one point. I think he was far more concerned with other tables of "VIP's." When we told him that this was a special occasion and we really felt his condescending attitude was uncalled for, he told us we were welcome to speak to his manager. He basically ruined the meal for us. I think had we been hotel guests or had a different waiter it would have been a wonderful experience. However, based on what we experienced I will never return.
The doormen were great. The restaurant was great. The menu was great. The wait staff was great. But, the hostess who showed us to the table needs training.
Plenty of open tables, and she placed us 2 feet away from a service bar. I politely asked
For another table, and she tossed the menus on the next table and walked off.
The only low point of an otherwise good experience...but, it's the thing I will remember.
I hope she didn't share in the tip.
We were there at 1150am for my birthday with my family and some friends. We were given breakfast menus, so I asked about getting the lunch menu from the women who seated us. We were told there was only breakfast until dinner. As we were eating our breakfast, I noticed all the tables around us had ordered lunch. Burgers, fries, Caesar Salads and Shrimp. By this time it was too late to send it back. Very bizarre and confusing.
We celebrated our anniversary at Trio with another couple and it was a great experience. They acknowledged the event wth complimentary glasses of champagne and "Happy Anniversary" greetings from both the hostess and our waiter. Food and service were excellent, as well as the extensive wine list. Our expectations were high, as we had eaten there a few times in the past, and we were not disappointed.
This was the best meal I have had in Austin in ages. Everything was perfect: food; service; and ambiance. As everyday restaurants selling craft cocktails and small plates at special occasion prices continue to clog Austin's restaurant scene, it was nice to enjoy a meal that was worth the splurge in every way.
We had an amazing time. When making the reservation I shared that we were celebrating my friends birthday. From the moment we walked in Until we left the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive in acknowledging his birthday. He kept asking me if I told everyone..lol. The dinner was amazing. Everything cooked to perfection. We had the rack of lamb which was so good. We stopped at the lounge on our way out and the bday acknowledgements continued. It was a memorable evening. Thank you Trio/Four Seasons and Open Table.
I was so looking forward to my 64th birthday treat, especially since the hotel brings back fond memories of the times in the '90s when I stayed there on business.
Disappointingly, the waiter was quite unlikeable. He insisted on showing me how to put yellowfin tuna on the hot rock, even after I told him I was very familiar with the process. I said it was like Uchi's, but he didn't acknowledge and kept on demonstrating as if I were a 3 year old. Also, we told him we had a deadline to leave for Zach's theatre, but he spent too much time chatting with other waiters some distance away and did not see that we had finished eating. So, after 2 hours of relatively relaxing dining, we had to leave in a rush.
The popover roll presented at the start of the meal looked and tasted very stale and rubbery. Quite inedible. The tuna was excellent, but the smoked ribeye was overcooked, though still reasonably edible. The cauliflower and mushroom sides were badly prepared - too greasy, and not worth the $22.
Trio has a great location and pleasant decor. The chef and staff seem to have lost the place regarding quality of food and customer service. Such a pity. Will not return until I hear they have made a turnaround.
I love Trio. I took my nieces and nephew for a special dinner out and we timed it to watch the bats departing the Congress Ave. bridge after dinner. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The food was excellent. I have been here many other times with adults and it is always a special experience.
Every visit to Trio (located in the Four Seasons) is consistently perfect! This visit was especially memorable because, via Manager Joe (what a great personality!), Chef Luz (who makes each visit personable) introduced our table to the head chef at the Four Seasons (for decades0 - Chef Elmar Prambs - on his birthday!! It happened to be the same day Chef Elmar was on the front page of Austin American-Statesman's Life Section front page. What an experience!! Did I mention the food was unbelievably fabulous!
"Fabulous" sums it up in one word! (But, Open Table - the online reservation program - says it requires at least 50 words to leave a summary. So, I don't want Trio to go without a raving review. On a biased note: Trio guests are generally a bit more busy than the average or amateur food or restaurant critic to leave a 50+ words review.
We have been here many times. I would like to continue to go back. However, the service today was maybe the worst experience I've had in quite some time. In the end the manager Joe apologized and spent some time with us. Also, they wound up doing the right thing. No longer is it all the champagne, Mamosa's, Or bloody Mary's you can drink. This place really seems to be going south. Don't know if I'll be a regular here anymore. Very disappointing.
I love the high-level of consistency. Chef James and Luz are extraordinary! I have numerous food allergies in which they can accommodate - but their creations are far from an accommodation - they are superb and outstanding! Then, to add the incredible and attentive wait staff to the Chefs' perfections... Trio equals none other!
