Tribeca Tavern Ratings and Reviews
We had a 6pm reservation on a Friday night. After being seated, we were ignored for ~10 minutes before a gentleman (presumably a manager) told us that we shouldn't have been seated where we were (apparently, the hostess didn't realize our table was being saved for a larger party). We were then offered a free appetizer/dessert for the inconvenience and moved to another table in another part of the restaurant. Here, we were also ignored (not even offered water) for another 10 minutes. The server who finally waited on us barely greeted us and acted as if he was reluctantly doing us a special favor. When the check was brought, I mentioned that our appetizer was not discounted. The server made a rude face like he was skeptical about a discount and asked who offered it. I said that I thought it was the manager and he asked me frustratedly "Well, what were they wearing? Glasses? Green shirt? There are 3 of them."
This level of disorganization and customer disrespect is not representative of our previous dining experiences here (and the food was good, as usual) but, unfortunately, this event was enough of a train wreck that I don't think we will risk coming back.
Also, after we left, we learned that they didn't acknowledge our reservation via OpenTable and marked us as a no-show.
Why have a reservation when it still takes you over 20 min to get seated?!?!?! I was sorely disappointed in the lack preparation and the subsequent wait. We were only a party of 3! The waiters were okay but they clearly didn't have enough wait staff present as our waiter was visibly dripping with sweat and running around like a mad man. As a result we were not paid the best attention. The food was good as it always is and you can't beat the kid's menu.
Actually a little disappointing. The restaurant wasn't crowded, so the length of time it took to get our meal was surprising, and several items were on the tepid side. Cheese grits tasted great, but were barely warm, and burger came with sliced raw onions instead of the ordered carmelized onions (which were, to the staff's credit, supplied pretty quickly). Overall, the meal just wasn't up to the standards of previous visits.
Menu is great - lots of options to choose from. We sparsely saw our waiter but that probably had something to do with the fact that we were sat on the second floor patio. We ordered Burgers which seem to be their specialty; the burgers were delicious but the side items (fries) were soggy/not fresh. If it didn't take so long to see our waiter then we would have sent them back. Overall we enjoy this restaurant and an off night won't keep us from coming back!
We've been here in the past and loved it, but it was not great this time. They were out of the kid's steak (which my son wanted to order) and they were out of cod (my daughter wanted the fried fish). So my daughter went with fish tacos and since they were out of cod they made them with catfish, which they told us ahead of time and my daughter still decided to try it, but they were pretty bad. It was all mushy, flavorless breeding. She only ate a couple bites so I was going to trade with her but I couldn't eat them. Kid's fries and chicken strips were good. Husband got the meatloaf and it was good but the mashed potatoes were dry. I got the fried green tomato BLT (which I have had in the past when it was really good) and it was not good. They may have changed the recipe? It was a lot of bread, a lot of breeding, one tiny piece of lettuce. It was too much bread I ended up eating the tomatoes and bacon out of it, but I got the sweet potato casserole as my side and it was really good! My husband got some sour cocktail and said it was delicious. We're hoping it was just an off night and will probably give it one more chance.
I have been to Tribecca too many times to count. Most of those visits were good ( great food, nice staff, etc.) This was a horrible fail, food came out cold, a dinner took 2.5+ hours and when trying to discuss this with the manager he tried to defend the situation. He did mention that they had a high number of large parties and it really got the kitchen backed up. I suggested this might be a nice thing to communicate to patrons when there food is being delayed. He seemed argumentative to defend his and his teams action. TO BE CLEAR this was the first time in probably over 100 visits to this restaurant with this issue. We have befriend much of the staff (current and pass) and historically had great service (occasionally average but tat is rare.) I did not think it would be too much to state we go there weekly ( this was my wife's second time at this location that week.) I am hoping this is a one off and they do a post mortum to decide what went wrong and mitigate future problems. There a lot of options for restaurants in the area and this tends to be our go to... I hope they are able to learn from mistakes and improve going forward.
The food was really good and you can't beat the prices and value of the kid's menu. The service was not that good. We specifically asked for outdoor seating in our reservation. They didn't seat us outside even though there were plenty of open tables. We asked for a high chair for my daughter in the reservation. It wasn't there and it took them at least 3-5 minutes to bring it to the table. The waitress was inattentive and kept apologizing for forgetting to refill our drinks, etc. Bottom line: if you are planning on going don't go for the service, go for the food and expect the service to be subpar.
Every time I come to Cary, Tribeca Tavern is on my "must go" list! Their food is fabulous with good variety. My favorite is the bison burger, my dad's is the bison meatloaf (son-in-law had it this time and said it was awesome!) I also love the fish tacos, fried green tomatoes, and tomato cucumber black eyed peas salad. Service is almost always exceptional with friendly, accommodating service. Using Open Table to make a reservation is also very handy!
I took a friend to lunch at Tribeca for her birthday and it was just right for the two of us. It's not loud like so many restaurants and we could have a nice conversation without shouting across the table. The young server Daniel was delightful and helpful without being intrusive. We each had a sandwich and soup, just the right amount for a light lunch.
We were a group of female friends getting together for lunch and requested a round table and quiet area. Both were waiting for us when we arrived. Our server was pleasant and attentive without rushing us from the restaurant. Everyone said their food was tasty. We casually ate and talked the afternoon away.
The burgers were over cooked and somewhat dry. This had not been our experience in the past. I ordered the Wolfpack burger which was supposed to be two 5 oz. patties. They brought out two 9 oz. patties with just the one slice of cheese. It's much better with the 5 oz. patties. The onion straws actually had a chicken tender in them! While we were eating an employee entered the room and began vacuuming. We couldn't hear each other. The waiter pretty much disappeared after the food was served.
$5 was pricewise a good deal for a hamburger last Thurs but my burger was full of grizzle and FF was cool and limp I am new to this area and looked forward to going but I would have to go back and try a regular meal to really judge fairly this restaurant but thank you for offering that good deal
I have to say that I think the food and service at Tribeca Tavern has gone downhill lately. I had a burger and fries and I honestly have had better burgers elsewhere. The fries were limp and not hot. I asked for no LTO on my burger and it came with it anyway. My dining companion got the Fried green tomato BLT. It had regular tomato in addition to the fried tomato which was a bit overcooked. Her cheese grits were on the dry side.
The service was just ok. I never got a refill on my ice tea.
I've been to Tribeca Tavern several times and always for lunch. It's a great place for a sit-down full-service lunch - Excellent menu with flavorful and creative items, excellent service, and high-class yet casual setting. Although I have not been for dinner I would recommend it. Also feels like a great place for after work drinks or late night gatherings for bar food.
Tribeca was very accommodating to our large group of 18 people. They had a side area that was just perfect for our graduation celebration. The food was tasty as was their craft beer. The fries were a little greasier than I like, but I am very picky about fried food. The hamburger was delicious and done perfectly to order.
Because it was Mother's day and they said their ticket machine was down we waited one hour from sit down ti food delivery and one order didnt come. So they reordered it. Childs burger was not well done and another burger was not cooked to request but they made a new one. We've een there several times and will go back. Things happen. Good service from our waiter.
Arrived 1/2 hr early and asked to be seated sooner if possible , waited with a buzzer and when we went in at our scheduled reservation time to see if the table was ready we waited some more ( I think they forgot about us. )
Waiter seemed overwhelmed and every thing we ordered had something missing .
