Tribeca Grill lived up to its reputation as an outstanding dining establishment.
The food was delicious and service was spot on! Also kudos to the sommelier who recommended a rose' when the house brand was no longer available.

First time here. I stopped in for the mid day menu, served 3:45-5:00; while the menu is abbreviated, I enjoyed the selection of 3 area cheeses --delicious. I followed them with the crab cake, which was full of lump and backfire crab, eat, with little, if any filler. The remoulade and Homemade slaw were perfect sides. While there were only 2 other tables occupied, & just a few folks at the bar, service was spotty.

We were thoroughly disappointed by the "waiter " that greeted us with both brunch and dinner menus. When he finally finished talking to his coworkers, he wandered over to take our orders and informed us he gave us the wrong menus - only brunch at 3:30 in the afternoon. After that it was all downhill. He only came back twice to fill water. Manager had to bring our ice tea and soda after we flagged her down because we were halfway through our salads. Our meals were delivered by a runner - no one checked on our meals - we flagged down a runner for more drinks. We had to ask a runner to bring us our check after waiting 15 minutes for the "waiter" to stop talking to coworkers while we waited to order dessert and coffee. I asked that our tip be given to the runner that was attentive to our very simple needs. Did I mention the place was empty and only had 3 other tables seated. All the while, the "waiter" kept his back to his tables and was chatty with coworkers in plain view. Never to return - too many places in the city to eat.

Read lots of great reviews hence the booking but sadly our visit was a disappointment.
Not value for money. Green salad consisted of 2 small tomatoes and 10 salad leaves.
Only one or 2 Vegetarian choices, which didn’t appeal.

It's rare to find a nice restaurant offering traditional food well with out all the fussy buzz worthy ingredients of the moment. Tribecca Grille's menu offers the culinary version of a Ralph Lauren cashmere sweater, well made, with best materials, blue chip pricy but never flashy. The space is very casual, red brick tavern set in a former Tribecca factory on a quiet corner. Large stain glass light fixtures give a warm, festive feel to the rooms. Service was ok, our waiter was not too up on the menu, ordering desert and getting check paid was a challenge. I had a well prepared fish and my date a filet seared to perfection. Portions were generous.

My wife and I live in New York and dine out often. This was one of the most unpleasant experiences we have had in decades. It was a special occasion, after an award ceremony. We arrived (on time), were seated, and then COMPLETELY IGNORED. After 25 minutes, I went up to maitre d's desk to point out that we had been ignored for almost a half hour. The maitre d' took our drinks order, and the champagne we ordered was served -- 35 minutes after we arrived. Shortly after that, a waiter appeared. I assume he must have been reprimanded by the maitre d' since he was sullen and unpleasant , verging on nasty. This behavior continued throughout the meal. The meal itself was actually quite good, as was the wine we had to follow the champagne. But the waiter's unrelenting rude behavior made it a thoroughly unpleasant evening. Though I usually tip 25% or more, I left a 10% tip, with a note on the charge slip making it clear that the service was completely unacceptable. The bill was about $220. That's a hefty bill for an unpleasant two hours.

We went with friends for our anniversary and my wife’s birthday and we were treated like we were the only people in the restaurant. Staff were attentive, courteous, thoughtful, funny, mindful to our needs and catered for everything we needed and asked for.

To finish the evening staff brought free desserts to our table which brought such a smile to our faces and confirmed everything we had read about Tribeca Grill. Plus my wife (as we all are) are huge Robert De Niro fans that eating in his establishment, viewing the rare posters near the restrooms and his father’s artwork added to the whole experience.

Not to bang on too much but the staff, from the lady who answered the phone and took my special requests to the lady that served us were all fantastic.

Thank you,

Peace and Love

Lisa, Leo, Ruth and Bobby.

Service excellent. Atmosphere very nice. Food great overall, though my wife and I ordered and split the steak for two. It was disappointing. Not much meat and much more fat. We are not huge carnivores, so we did not complain, but it is totally unlike a steak for two you would get at a typical NYC steak house .

Otherwise the food was excellent and the wine list very good

I would go again...but not order the steak
