My wife and I were celebrating our joint birthdays with dinner out and a play at the Opera House. We found Triangle Grill for dinner. I had the steak which was done to perfection. She had the chicken club sandwich which she fully enjoyed. Everyone was very nice. I could not say enough about how friendly and attentive our server Sandy was. She is the best.
UK basketball game at Rupp Arena
We were quickly greeted and seated before a U.K. Basketball game. Our waitress Sandy did an excellent job of making sure we were on schedule and took our order. We added another person halfway through our meal and she was able to handle the change flawlessly.
The brisket sandwiches were tender and had a wonderful flavor.
We will definitely return for another pregame meal.
The food was excellent and priced appropriately. Alcohol was extremely over-priced, especially bourbon. The orders we placed were 100% correct; but service was fair, at best. The dining room was clean and beautifully decorated and the view of Triangle Park was nice. No reservation was needed, as there was only one other table being serviced at the time we were there. Overall, we had a nice, quiet meal but there was not much special about it.

Interesting part was that I had made reservations thru Open Table and was told by Hostess that Open Table reservations didn’t show up on their computer system – so we had no reservations. Not a problem – they were not busy and able to accommodate our party of 8 within a couple of minutes. Overall the food was decent and the service was good.
We went here before a UK basketball game. The food was excellent and the price was good also. It wasn't too crowded or noisy. They offer a pre-game buffet for $20, but we ordered off of the menu because we knew that we were going to have a large dinner out that evening. I would definitely eat here before a game another time. The location if perfect.
It had note scored very well in previous reviews, and frankly, when you are trying to find a table for 10 at 9pm, you go with what you can find. We had a really nice meal. Our servers was witty, the service was fast and the food was good. We had a really nice evening.
My steak order was overcooked the first time around but after re-cooking, it was great. The others in the party were fairly pleased with their orders except for the wait time. The kitchen initially made all the orders "to go" but only one of the party had requested that service. After correcting that error, the orders were plated all except the steak order which took an extremely long time and then came out well done when the original request was medium rare. The chef and manager corrected the mistake in a gracious manner and the rest of the evening was very nice.
The dining room was less than half full when we arrived, yet it took 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The food arrived 40 minutes into our visit, and it was wonderful. We had to ask to have our water refilled. Truly service is the only down side.
We have been to Triangle Grill many times. It is a great spot to watch the Lexington Christmas Tree lighting. However, the service this time was awful. Initially our waiter was at our table several times while we were deciding and ordering drinks. Then he was no where to be found for at least 15 minutes. It took 30 minutes to get the two drinks that were ordered. The food came out pretty quickly once we were able to place our order. However, they gave my sister the wrong food. They fixed it quickly and did comp her for her meal, which she appreciated. My husband and I liked our food, fish sandwich and fried green tomato sandwich and both had the French Onion soup which is always very good.
Overall, the food was good, but the service was so bad that we questioned whether we would bother to go there again for the tree lighting or any other time.
My husband and I were looking for some light fare after indulging in a very large brunch. We ordered salads, seared tuna for me and Caesar with salmon for him. Both salads were excellent with the right proportion of fish.
Triangle Grill is the Hilton's coffee shop and we had some trouble figuring out where it was from Google maps. Apparently others did too since there were only two tables in use on a Saturday night. Granted we did dine during the UK and Indiana basketball game...mostly everyone was in the bar...so that probably explains the lack of people in this really good restaurant.
Waited what seemed like forever for soup (which was below average onion soup). Then one hour and ten minutes we still had two tables in front of us to get food, we canceled our order which gave us only twenty minutes to make the concert across the street. I say this was poor management because kitchen obviously understaffed. Yes, there was a large crowd as would be expected for a "sold out" concert at Rupp. But management must plan for that. NEVER AGAIN.
No manager in dining room. Very bright lighting at dinner. Two staff members working very hard and two not doing very much. My wife had the strangest dish ever, it did not match the menu description. Cheese ravioli, a sweet sauce, and a pound of short ribs on top. No server/manager checked to see how our food was. Order wine that they did not have. Staff needs menu knowledge training and service training. Manager needs to be touching tables.
I've lived in Lexington over 15 years and have never stopped by this restaurant...it is very convenient to Rupp and the downtown area. We tried it out before a concert...should have planned more time. While the service was very good, the food was slow from the kitchen. Great choices and the food was delicious. Definitely will be back...could have been faster, but worth the wait.
Service was exceptional; food was tasty; filling brunch choice and also a breakfast buffet. Large window seating next to a busy street so either you can watch people go by or if you want privacy ask for a different seating location. Would recommend to try it.
We arrived there for one of our two reservations. The first one we arrived at 8:45pm, we sat, the restaurant was maybe 30% full and we waited for over 30 minutes for small meals...one soup and two salads. The place was quiet because all diners were waiting for meals for long periods of time The second res. we cancelled as timing was questionable about our arrival back from Louisville and the Derby with our bus tour group...just as well as no sooner did we arrive (9:20pm), we were about to be seated and were told that it would be 30 minutes before our food would arrive, after the order would be taken. 40% full maybe. We walked away. Servers were complaining about being slammed...really? Maybe earlier but at 9:20? Didn't see it.
Nice restaurant, however I was not happy with my experience this time. I came to eat before a concert with my kid and my friend and her kid. We arrived at 615 and ordered our food in a timely manner. However our food did not arrive until 710 then to make matters worse our children's food didnt arrive when the other food did. After 15 min and speaking to the manager we all finally got our food delivered. We ended up missing part of our concert because of this. Also we didnt get refills even though we asked for them. The food wasn't bad but the situation just kinda put a damper on our night.
We came for brunch and just missed the cutoff. My wife wanted to leave when the waiter was stern that breakfast items can no longer be ordered. The director of food services was much more flexible and willing to make pancakes & an omelet for her. He really turned things around. The food was delicious! Thanks!
Our service was very slow. We were seated and didn't order for another 40 minutes because our waiter never came back. It was during a UK home basketball game, but 3 hours before tipoff. They also put us all the way in the back in a room full of UK people, so no view of Triangle Park as advertised and we even asked to be seated at a 2 top table with park views but was told no. I can't say that I'll eat there again unless I'm staying at the hotel and have no time for anywhere else. I thought it was separate from the hotel by the description but it's not. Could have ordered the same menu off room service. The food was ok. My brisket was a little dry but I was afraid to ask for more sauce because of the slow service.
I expect the restaurant to be a fine dining place, unfortunately it was nothing more than the Hotel's breakfast area buffet room. It was not ugly, but neither special. The food was OK but nothing special. If you want BBQ sauce from Kroger on your pork chop them this is the place for you. The waiters were unprofessional. They looked like the crew in charge of the "continental breakfast". We were having ourvalentinesdate and were not happy at all with the place. Please avoid if you are looking for quality.
My wife and I went here on Valentine's Day and it wasn't something to write home about. The food was alright, I did enjoy the hot brown, but she wasn't a fan of her food and we had to ask for bread. The waiter was nice but was too focused on one table and ignored the rest of his tables for the most part. It's an attempt at high class but they may want to leave the ketchup bottles off every table.
This was a terrible experience and we will never return. I don't believe I have ever went to a "fine dining" restaurant that had laminated menus similar to a Denny's. We arrived at 5:15 and did not receive our meals for 45 minutes. During this time our waiter only checked in once and that was to say that our food was coming out shortly....and then we waited another 15 minutes. Once the food arrived it was incredibly underwhelming. My wife's chicken was overcooked and chewy and I had the Tuna steak which was supposed to be medium rare, but arrived well done and flavorless. Our meal was $70 and I have had significantly better food for 1/3 of the price at a chain restaurant.
Everyone I know will hear how bad this experience was.
