Found this place for brunch after another restaurant had too long of a wait. This place's ambience was typical of a high end hotel restaurant. The windows faced Triangle Park and there was plenty of light. The food was excellent. The service was very good and the waitress was very conversational. Would recommend for anyone wanting to eat downtown.
Steak for dinner undercooked twice...breakfast was good
We took our three kids, ages 21, 16 and 8, .there on Valentine’s Day. It was a preset menu with steak, salmon and chicken. They were out of steak and my husband and kids don’t like salmon. We had to go to the hotel bar-which was right next to the restaurant- to order our drinks because they only had a ‘select’ bar menu. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Appetizers were bland, as was the chicken.
Shortcuts on the menu to accommodate a concert. Very disappointed in a restaurant in a Hilton Hotel. Even though we decided we didn’t want to eat there we noticed how slow the service was.
This was not a good restaurant. The service was terrible and the food was absolutely not to par. Absolutely not worth the price and we definitely don’t recommend.
It was convenient for a meal prior to a concert at the Rupp. I was disappointed that they weren't serving their normal menu. Very few choices were available. My steak had a lot of gristle and was not cooked the way I ordered it.
Never had an actual identified server. Only told yo help ourselves if you want the breakfast bar. Had to ask for cream for coffee. A bit overpriced especially given the lack of service.
Nice waitress Allison!
Outstanding Christmas Day meal. Courteous and attentive staff. Highly recommend
Excellent food and service. We did the Xmas lunch and would strongly recommend any holiday brunch or lunch there. Well worth it!
Love this place! It’s a little hidden gem in Lexington. While the restaurant is always empty which may scare patrons away, the food is always good and the service has always been top notch. I’ve eaten lunch and dinner there on several occasions.
The five of us appreciated the ambiance of the Triangle Grille and that we could talk to each other without shouting or loud music. The food was delicious, especially the Mediterranean table for us vegetarians. I must have been mistaken, though, I thought it was a brunch. Turned out to be a lunch, however, we enjoyed ourselves at the Grille.
For some reason, the downtown Lexington doesn't have a lot of brunch choices. We choose Triangle Grille thinking Hilton serves a good breakfast. The huevos rancheros were terrible. Eggs placed on two hard tortillas with beans and some weird sauce. The rest of the breakfast meals were bland. Extremely disappointing. Stay away from here.
First class all the way
We had only been to the Triangle Grill a few times over the last three or four years, during lunchtime and state basketball tournament proceedings. We enjoyed the location, convenience, and most everything on those other occasions. More often than not we had selected the Kentucky hot brown. Unfortunately, they no longer offer the Kentucky hot brown.
The menu was not necessarily exemplary. The staff was pleasant, but not precise in their service — for example, two members of our party asked that they split a dish (which we know nobody likes to do!), and that that be done in the kitchen; unfortunately, it was not so done. It was brought out and then our party had to split it.
Another point: my buddy asked for a frozen bug for his beer. None was provided, nor was there an explanation as to why that could not be done. In fact, he had to ask for the glass....
For some reason, there was a “service charge” placed on each of the bills or checks. It was hard for me to discern exactly what that was. I assumed it was a tip, and based upon the circumstances, the cost, and the service, assuming that was what it was for it was more than adequate — accordingly, no tip was added.
We still like the ambience, the location, and the general attitude of staff, but at this time, at least for dinner, we would probably need to be more demanding if we were to go back. Hopefully, they will bring back that Kentucky classic hot brown, for lunch AND dinner.
We had a large group, which we had a reservation for. Half of our group was served before the other. One of the tables in our group was never told that the breakfast menu was ending at 11 and when they were prepared to order were told that could not be done because breakfast had concluded. They then had to prepare new orders off of the lunch menu all while the other half of the group was already being served breakfast. The quality of the food was not impressive for the price.
I made a reservation and when we arrived there was a sign posted stating that the only option for dinner that evening was the buffet. That sounded fine to us so we sat down and enjoyed the dinner buffet. However, we were SHOCKED when we received the bill. We had NO IDEA that the dinner buffet would be so expensive at $49. There should have been notice given to us that it was going to be $49 - either on the sign stating that the buffet was the only dinner option or when we were seated. The food was delicious but we probably would not have stayed for dinner had we known the price of the buffet.
Table for 6 prior to Paul McCartney concert at Rupp...Triangle Grille set the tone for a no-hassle evening. Great buffet of salmon, shrimp, and prime rib with all the sides to please even picky eaters. Stephon was the perfect waiter...we wanted for nothing! Congratulations Triangle Grille for earning our next reservation!
Our first time here-We came here for dinner prior to the Paul McCartney concert across the street at Rupp Arena. Because of the special event, they offered a buffet only for $50pp. It was delicious, 4 different stations including appetizer, carving station, entree and desserts. The appetizers were shrimp cocktail, shrimp and grits, Brie & goat cheese, fancy crackers, marinated olives, grilled vegetable mixed salad- prime rib, salmon, baked chicken, roasted Brussels sprouts- bourbon bread pudding & tiramisu. Service was pleasant and attentive. We will return!
Food was great and service was even better! Thank you!
Horrible restaurant. Its like dinning in an old Denny's (sorry Dennys).
Bad food, talkative manager that would not go away....terrible experience.
I would rather go hungry!
Thank you for taking the time to send us a review. We are sorry that your dining experience was less than perfect. Please know we use all feedback to help us better serve our guests.
Wonderful buffet, everything tasted amazing. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
No wait, our waiter was quick and attentive...great place to take out of town guests for a quick bite!! Food was great, too!!
The food was good but the service was awful.
We waited a solid 30 minutes before ordering due to the server taking forever to get our drinks. I totally understand that we were a party of 8 but 30 minutes. Our server got sat all at once back to back but no one seemed to care nor want to help him out. So I’m mainly upset that the other servers and managers didn’t even help him. It took probably 20 minutes for our server to figure out the checks and brought my check to me twice and it was incorrect both times. You could just tell how overwhelmed this poor man was.
Triangle Grill had a nice atmosphere located conveniently across the street from Rupp Arena. On game days, they have a buffet that included pulled pork, build-your-own-burger, and chicken along with a nice selection of sides. The buffet was good...not fantastic, but at $18.95 was a good value. The staff was very nice and attentive. Overall I would definitely recommend visiting Triangle Grill, especially on UK basketball game days.
Overpriced - period
Unfortunately this was the worst experience we have ever had at any restaurant. The drinks were great, but that is where it all stopped. Food was not prepared the way we asked. It was late. we were there over an hour and a half before food started to come out. Sorry guys, but something was really off the day we were there. Hopefully lessons were learned.
We went to Triangle Grille for Thanksgiving. There was nothing wrong with it or special about it, I guess I would call it mediocre. We weren't the last people to eat by any means and they ran out of ham. It's better than the trouble of cooking at home.
First visit. Very good lunch. Nice portions and fresh ingredients. Waiter was very personnable and attentive. Definitely go back
This restaurant is located near a concert venue, so you would think they would be equipped to handle patrons before events. They were taking reservations only. The service was SLOW. Like took 30 minutes to get your drinks slow. The food that was delivered to the table was not as described on the menu. For example, the burger was supposed to have cheddar cheese and came out with blue cheese. At this point it was just easier to scrape it off than to ask for it to be fixed. It was just overall a very poor experience.
Enjoyed our Mother’s Day Brunch. Lovely buffet.
Good food and excellent server! Nice for Mother's Day.
Has a limited menu. What we ordered was good. The waitress was friendly and attentive
Not a very good experience. The restaurant wasn’t very busy at all, but we waited for an hour for our food. The dish that my friend ordered was missing some of its ingredients and when she told our server he argued with her about it until he looked at the menu and realized that she was right. I had the ahi tuna salad and the lettuce was wilted and soggy and the tuna tasted off so I didn’t eat most of it. I might be willing to give it a second chance at some point, but overall I would not recommend.
We ate dinner st Triangle Grille before attending the regional semi finals of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament at Rupp Arena. The food was good but the wait staff was excellent. We were greeted with smiles and waited on with smiles and kindness. I will definitely go there to eat again when I’m in the area
The waitress never asked us if we wanted drinks. We were the only people there, and were told it would be at least 25 minutes for our food (we order a grilled cheese and waffles). The food was bland, and the waitress took 15 minutes to pick up our payment. The staff was standing around the restaurant dining area playing in their phone.
I would not recommend anyone to eat at this establishment! There's a reason nobody was eating there in a Saturday night.
The food was excellent but at the price for the entrée a salad should be included. $6 was a little steep for a small house salad. Appetizer was tasty and the service was really good. I'm not sure why so few people were dining when it was after a ballgame.
Nice place but the meal seemed rushed by our waitress. Entrees came out while we were still eating the appetizer and our waitress just seemed rushed when dealing with our table the entire time. Menu was a bit limited. Seems this place knows it has a good location right across from the events at Rupp Arena and that is all they need to keep customers.
Food was great. The shrimp and grits were the best I have had! Service was friendly.
