This place is a sort of up-scale but not fancy-fancy place to dine. The night we were there, the food was mostly on-point, except some undone al-dente fries served with béarnaise sauce that saved them, but, the service was almost achingly slow. All of our food arrived well after it should have. The house was fairly full, but it appeared well staffed. Perhaps the bottleneck was in the kitchen, I don't know, but we experienced wait times for all of our courses.
Other than that, the food was all very good. We both had the ribeye and it was done to our expectation of rare with a nice sear on the outside.
New Years Eve at 8:30. By the time we left many tables were empty. Don't know if they stayed open to celebrate or not. A few special entres for the holiday but they ran out of baked potatos of all things but they subbed a vegetable which was better for us anyway.
The food is some of the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. We were there for brunch, and they managed to make a tough waffle (I suspect beating the batter to within an inch of its life loaded it up on gluten, making it more like bread dough than waffle batter). The bacon was both burnt and undercooked at the same time. Others had "hash browns" -- which were actually a gluey potato gratin, and not hash browns at all. How can you not even know the correct names for the items on your own menu? A place to go out of your way to avoid.
The service was awesome! It was our first time eating at Tria. We had the steak filet, but it was not the most flavorful. It was relatively tender, but again, not great. The potatoes and signature dessert were delicious. We will return to try other menu items.
We went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
1. Booth: Seat cushion was worn out flat. Seat edges showing obvious wear. Surprising for that level a restaurant.
2. Lobster Spaghetti: Wife got this. Was too salty for her but I thought it was okay. $29.95 - It was only worth $19.95 max.
3. I got the Lamb T-bone: Ordered it medium. It came raw. I sent it back for a refire to medium well and it came back rare. Dish had three approx 3" x .75" pieces. First bite on piece 1 was complete fat. Second bite on piece 1 was complete fat. Third and final bite on piece 1 was partial fat but very chewy. The other two pieces only had 3 bites each and were very chewy. All tasted like fake broil chemicals. Lamb sat on a bed of lentils, which, taste-wise, was a complete mismatch. $29.95 - this was an embarrassment. $3 for each chewy bite and a hideous fake broiled after taste.
4. Service: I complained about the Lamb to the waitress, who apologized. Said she would get the manager. Got the Lamb taken off the bill but expected some word from the manager like, "I'll be sure to tell the cook and we're really sorry..." She/he never bothered to come over so we thought she really doesn't care about our experience. We expect others will suffer the same fate.
5. Generally: The atmosphere is homey and the staff are nice. We come there once/twice a year for special occasions but that evening showed us Tria has gone far downhill since last year and we won't be returning. The value just isn't there. We can go to the Red Lobster and get far better tasting food and more of it for almost half the price including salads - and the seats aren't worn out.
For the price, this dining experience was disappointing. The portions were small and even served on smaller than dinner plates. My Walleye was too mushily soaked with butter, and again, the portion was smaller than expected for $31.00. My wife's Surf and Turf was good, but again, came with 2 scallops and a 4 oz steak that looked like it was even less than that. Tria is a very nice restaurant, but from our experience, it appears the kitchen staff needs to re-think and re-evaluate what they are doing.
Our server was very nice and informative, but many of our dirty dishes were not timely cleared nor were drinks refilled. The food was good, but disappointing that there was no GRAVY with a Thanksgiving turkey dinner?!?!? That’s essential!! The lobster spaghetti was fabulous, as was the beet salad. The winter squash soup was much too thick-my son likened it to pudding :(. The prime rib was correctly cooked medium rare, but needed salt and more garlic and herbal flavors
I visited Tria for my birthday and was treated like royalty. The service was fantastic; Michelle took very good care of us. Her pacing was spot on, we always had everything we needed, and she was a pleasure to be around. The management stopped by to see how our meal was tasting and if everything was to our liking. The ambiance was nice and everything tasted amazing. My steak was done perfectly and the crab cake at Tria can not be beaten by any other restaurant. Thank you for the great food and service! Keep it up :)
We visited the Parisian Brunch. Lovely music from a quartet. A couple of specials but mainly the brunch menu available. Love the poutine and chicken with waffles. Love the beignets and mimosas. The calamari are the best ever. Miss the Chicken Francaise and hope it returns. Always a good time. Hope they would be open for lunch - so few good places in the area.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is gorgeous with large wooden beams set in a classic style, two fireplaces lit, artsy stone walls and comfortable seating with enough space to hold private conversation. They have a great patio for summer dining. The menu has a great selection of meals from casual and light to hearty, and full courses to meet any taste. This is great for special occasions as they offer wine or champagne on birthdays and anniversaries. Wait staff are attentive and efficient without being overly present. Great dining!
Visited Tria once again for my birthday dinner with my wife and two friends. It is hard to pass up that complimentary wine! We started with my favorite appetizer -- grilled octopus. the octopus is cooked just exactly right, and the relish with chorizo is a very interesting enhancement. I had the halibut. It was as tender as you would expect, and the beurre blanc and almond crust are very complimentary. The green beans almandine left a little to be desired though. All-in-all, it is a light dish with nuances. Spouse had the seared scallops, which were again not over-cooked (a common sin). her accompaniment (corn, tomatoes, chorizo and arugula pistou) was divine. One friend had the small filet and liked it. The other had the chicken marsala, which is consistently excellent. Service was prompt and attentive.
I gave a fantastic review on all counts -- this restaurant rocks! But nonetheless, have to say how disappointed I was that there was no mushroom risotto. Truth be told, that's why I came, all the way from Colorado. Will not come again because of the mushroom risotto disappointment...but that's just me.
The server was outstanding - courteous, paced us and responded to our needs without being over bearing. We were happy to be in the back of the restaurant near the fireplace. It was relaxing and quiet compared to the bricked side room where the acoustics are awful and you can't hear yourself speak. It was my birthday and the dinner was indeed special! Thanks to our server for her perceptive skills sensing that we didn't want to be rushed. She was fabulous!
We made a reservation for my birthday. Since it was Halloween, we wanted to eat earlier than the 5:00 dining room opening. We ate in the bar, with a limited menu. The waiter acted a bit impatient with our questions about what we could and couldn't order to get our "free" bottle of wine. The $64 dollar bottle of wine retails for about $20. You are expected to tip on the $64. Not really much of a savings. I was also brought a "free" dessert that I did not request and that was also supposed to be included in the tip calculation.
