Treva Ratings and Reviews
Table not ready at reservation time. Bar was nice as we waited but overall not worth the wait for dinner. Not bad but not exceptional. Food was good. Had 7:45 PM reservation but were not served dinner until 9:00. And we all agreed food was good but not worth the walk to get there and the long wait.
We love this place. Service is great, food is just superb and we'll continue to go there. For the first time, we waited for about 10 minutes after being seated before a server came over. When we told him no one had been over yet, he apologized & sent someone right over. They gave us a cheese & meat plate on the house for our troubles. That's how you get people to continue to visit. By treating them right.
The atmosphere was lively, which we enjoy. The hand crafted cocktails were unique and delicious. The meals started out with good bread, and the salads we ordered were nice and fresh. The food was authentic, fresh and delicious, and as described in the menu. Specials were also offered. Service was spectacular. Our waiter gave us just the right amount of attention. We never felt rushed, nor neglected, though it was quite busy. The portions were just right. Desserts were also great, and the prices were very reasonable for such unique food offerings. We will definitely go back.
I have had several wonderful meals, both dinner and lunch, at Treva. West Hartford Center is a great stopping off point when I am driving from family in NJ to friends in MA. I now live in Oregon, but was so happy to have a cozy meal with a very dear friend on my way to the holidays in RI. The pork chop was amazing, as were my friend's ravioli. I don't particularly like the upstairs dining area, since the seating is close to others and can be noisy.
We arrived for our 8:00 reservation on time but our table wasn't ready. We were happy to have a drink in the bar. After no one came to get us after a 45 minute wait we went to the hostess and was told that our table was still not ready and they couldn't give us an idea of when it would be. We were then told that we were welcome to have dinner at the bar. I wouldn't have made a dinner reservation if we wanted to dine at the bar. We left at 9 p.m. without having dinner.
We have been to Treva multiple time (dinner and happy hour). We have never had an issue with anything. I got the arctic char with the risotto. The risotto was the worst risotto that my wife and I have ever eaten. It had no resemblance to risotto (taste or texture). Everything else was good as always.
I had a great dinner, great special homemade pasta with mushrooms. My husband had veal chops which he’s had many times here before, but unfortunately they weren’t the best on this occasion. I would not discount this place based on this one time, as every place we’ve been to downtown in West Hartford has had an off night. Given we are locals that like to eat out at every establishment in West Hartford, it was still a great meal and the chefs were apologetic for the poor veal chop.
We have been to Treva several times and always enjoyed it. This time the experience was not as positive. The food was quite good, as always. The service was next to poor. Our server seemed to disappear for long periods of time. We had to ask from across the room for a refill bottle of water. A second glass of wine came after a meal had been finished. We all left agreeing that things were not the usual quality this time . It's unfortunate.
This used to be a quite good place to have an authentic Italian trattoria experience. Unfortunately this evening was not. I had the rigatoni bolognese and it was terrible. I think the chef placed the bolognese sauce out of a can one can buy in the grocery store over the pasta which had not even been heated slightly. The pasta should be al dente not just heated by a very hot sauce. The table next to ours sent a dish back twice and the second time just left it there. Maybe the chef was having a bad night but I don’t think we will be returning as there are so many other good restaurants in the area. Their sister restaurant Avert is a much much better choice for example
We were lucky to have two gift cards with us for our anniversary dinner, so we tried a bit of everything. Started with the burrata mozzarella, parmagiano reggiano, gorgonzola, speck, and soppressata, plus crusty bread and oil. Fabulous selection, I've never had soppressata and I'm glad this was my first taste!
Next course was Caesar salad (beautifully crisp, nicely dressed, love the croutons) and the arancini - HOLY MOLY the arancini, stuffed with burrata and cherries. Go just for those.
We split the ravioli special of the evening, butternut squash and sweet potato in a brown butter cinnamon spiced sauce - soft, pillowy, stuffed 2 inches high. Could've easily been a beautiful dessert with ice cream!
Entrees were two of the most perfect steaks I've ever had - my NY strip and my husband's ribeye. Served with charred Brussels sprouts and smashed fingerling potatoes.
Dessert was the duo chocolate mousse and raspberry sorbet with champagne (on the house, thanks!)
I can't say enough about the wonderful service and beautiful food. It was super special, and honestly, I expected to spend more. Will definitely be back!!!
I have been to treva multiple times and always enjoyed it - this weekend everything was delicious except the shrimp special - my sister ordered it as her dinner and barely ate any. She said it was terrible and I tried it and would have to agree - Shirmp were extremely over cooked and dry. I have previously tried another shrimp special (pasta and mushrooms) that was lovely ! Must have been an off night.
Lovely table and our waitress was very attentive without "hovering." The sole, which was ordered from the regular menu was really tasty but quite dry and was the smallest portion of sole I've ever been served.
Salads were good, nice and cold not overly dressed. Pasta was very good.
The food is delicious and authentic Italian cuisine. The chef was very accommodating for a special request on an entree. The service is excellent.
However, we noted on Open Table that it was my wife's birthday and yet Treva did not acknowledge this in any way. Since it is one of her favorite restaurants and this was where she wanted to dine for her birthday, it was very disappointing.
