What Insiders Are Saying
Trestle is a go-to date night restaurant - simple food, upbeat surroundings, and a streamlined menu will get the job done.
Great food, however tables too tight and service felt rushed.
Terrible tomatoes used for a tomato centric menu, the tomato salad had boring pluots, uneventful mozzarella and a tremendously flat-tasting tomato.
The risotto was ok but not creamy as a risotto should be, and the raw tomatoes on the top were a weird thing to add but were just as bad as the ones above.
The fish was ok, although not nacré in texture as it should be, I had better fish yesterday at a company cafeteria.
The dessert was the worst, we had an overly sweet cheesecake that didn’t taste like the goat’s cheese it is made out of, and was topped with a jelly that tasted like Mildew ( no exaggeration) with chia seed “mud” on the side.
The roulade was an odd choice for the dessert, it is the definition of a school cafeteria dessert but not prepared with any particular care and topped with an almost out of season poached unripe apricot.
Overall we felt cheated, but had a good laugh. We could barely hear anything, and neither could the front of house staff.
Delightful little neighborhood restaurant. Very busy restaurant, not the best place for deep conversations due to the noise level. The seasonal flare was tomatoes and pluots, both paired well together. Must have the squid risotto if they offer it!
Wonderful meal, wonderful service! Continues to be my favorite restaurant.
Amazing meal! I was s bit hesitant since night's menu focused on tomatoes, but I do like trying new dishes. Between the two of us, we tried every item on the menu except the steak. Every dish was unique and delicious. My favorite...the squid ink risotto. In addition to the great food, the staff was warm and welcoming. Our server, Danielle, took great care of us and ensured we had a wonderful evening.
Thank you Ryan! Love this place! We look forward to returning!
one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to. Amazing concept, amazing food, amazing wait staff.
We went for dinner last night, 3 course prefix during tomato season. Appetizer and entree were good. The dessert was a bit forced because of the odd addition of tomato to cheesecake and odder still somehow the addition of it my husbands chocolate cake.
But what stood out was that the service was rushed. My husband finished his salad and I was still slowly taking bites of mine, the server asked twice if he could take it away? Weird. That happened throughout our time there. At the table next to us, I noticed that as one of the guests was reaching for a piece of bread to dip in his soup the server took his soup away!? Kinda funny to see but man that sucks.
All in all good food just make sure to hold on to it.
Good food at convenient prices in a nice location.
The tomato-focused late summer menu sent my wife into the stratosphere. She raved about the intensity and peak of the flavors; and we ordered different entrees and deserts so that we could share. I'm confused how they can execute the Prix Fixe at $39---but have recommended it to two other friends already. No wonder it has a Michelin Bib Gourmand! Looking forward to our next return and the next rotation of the menu into something else deliciously seasonal.
Great value for the food quality and service. Everything is well presented and the service is very attentive . The only complaint we have on a consistent basis is the temperature of the red wine. It's always a little too warm. First world problems... Enjoy!
I've been to Trestle maybe 10 times and never had a bad experience. Not quite sure how they can consistently maintain such a high level of quality food and service .
My favorite resturant in SF.
A must try and you’ll go once or twice a month.
The food is excellent, service too.
Like going home for dinner if your Mom was a top notch chef!
It was a pretty tight experience.
Amazing rotating menu! Fresh, seasonal, all beautiful and balanced.
Great place for date or special event. Definitely make a reservation as the place is small. You are greeted with a warm smile and service is wonderful.
Wonderful dinner. I love this place for date or anniversary
Great ambiance, food presentation, service, and concept. I loved the simplicity in ordering our meal from a small set 3-course menu, with the option to add a pasta course. However, the food itself did not measure up to the high quality of options available in San Francisco. The flavor was lacking, and most dishes had too many unnecessary ingredients.
Food is always creative and presentation is amazing. Wait staffs are always friendly and helpful, best deal in town!
The staff was friendly & the flavors were punchy and well-crafted. A lovely place!
good price, food is special and delicious. The place is easy to parking that is hard in San Francisco.
Amazing as always 🥂🍾
Wonderful ambience and feeling from the second I entered the restaurant. My appetizer was absolutely delicious - made with fresh ingredients and the flavors balanced perfectly. Trestle has two entrees to choose from, both meat. I'm a vegetarian, and so ordered the off-menu vegetarian entree. It was very disappointing. It was a plate of in-season vegetables, that on their own, were roasted and flavored rather well. However, I ate what is essentially a side-dish for my main course, consisting of 5-7 forkfuls of roasted broccolini, squash and a few misc veggies. There were no carbs or proteins that were a part of the dish, and so it didn't feel filling at all. Trestle has a risotto on their menu - even a few spoons of that on the plate would have made it feel like a dish that was given as much attention as the meat entrees.
Trestle never fails to impress. We found the staff, again, to be welcoming, gracious, professional, and generous. The pre-fix 3-course meal is such a wonderful idea and has been executed perfectly when we’ve gone. I personally like not having to sort through tremendous menus, and you can trust that Trestle’s chef and entire team are going to present only what they know works. It’s wonderful. Makes you want to return regularly just to see what they’re creating! And it won’t drain your wallet. ;) We live in the Russian/Nob Hill area and have been fans of Stones Throw (miss them!) for years. This sister spot is a delight. If you haven’t been, check it out. And if you have been, what are you waiting for? :)
We went here for dinner and loved it! It’s pretty impressive to get that large of a meal for such a reasonable price. Will definitely be returning!
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back!
A charming cozy place located in Jackson Square/Chinatown area serving a high caliber superbly executed meal at a good value. Promptly greeted and seated with professional efficient service throughout the meal. The ingredients used were very fresh. I will return for another excellent meal.
Incredible place. The tasting menu was delicious, and the service was great.
Great concept. Very interesting and creative menu and a good value. My favorite restaurant in the Bay Area.
Noise level prevented this long anticipated dinner at Trestle from being perfection. Being able to talk with dinner companions is major reason for going out to dinner. Please fix this so we can return again and again.
Delicious food, great service. A birthday celebration, a very nice time...
Excellent menu, presentation, and service!
What a great location! I hate to recommend it this highly only for selfish reasons. But they deserve the accolades.
So good!! Amazing dessert
We thought it was really good. My partner was disappointed in no hard liquor but that is no huge deal. We had a great bottle of wine that was recommended after we told our server our likes. And it was moderately priced! Good job all around Trestle! BTW our server was gorgeous.
Food was great, wait staff service was great.
I do, however, have an issue with a restaurant that requires a credit card to hold a reservation for parties of three or more, imposes stringent requirements for contact information, threatens a fine and THEN makes my party stand outside in the cold and wait over 20 minutes past my reservation time before seating us. If you’re going to impose such ridiculous reservation “rules” have a table ready on-time.
Everything was great! We had an earlier reservation so we were quickly seated before our complete party was there and placed our drink order.
Great food. Great ambiance. Overall great place for a fancy date that doesn’t hurt your pockets too much.
Awesome food, service, and quality all around!
Love this place.
