It was a super slow night f
Expansive tequila and mezcal selection. Somewhat slow service.
Tacos are always excellent and quacamole and salsas are homemade and very tasty. Drinks and selection is outstanding. Always a great place to get good food quickly. Service is very good and their capacity for seating is very large so great place to get in before a Giants game.
Food was not worth the price and service was sub par.
Tres SF sets a soothing tone with its deep, bold colors. They recently unveiled a mural on the entrance wall - beautiful, big flowers native to Mexico greet your eyes as you are escorted to your seat by any of the cheerful hosts. Once at the table, you have the option of ordering their rich guacamole and fresh, lightly crunchy chips (at a price, but it’s worth it and you’ll be sure to eat it all, not just for the flavor but also because you paid for it).
You can’t go wrong with any dish. Success is the satisfaction of a specific craving met by the fusion of flavors stimulating your entire palette in just one sitting.
You will return time and time again to try the other plates you couldn’t decide among.
This is some of the worst service I’ve experienced in ages. From what I could tell, it wasn’t the server’s fault as much as management’s, which booked too few servers and added extra tasks on her plate.
Food was great, services was bad, would take forever to take our order.
Excellent as always.
The food was really good however the service was extremely slow and we barely saw our server.
The food is delicious even thought it feels a bit pricey, but the service was a bit slow - our food came out before the drinks we ordered at the same time. The bathrooms are really big for a SOMA restaurant.
My carnitas plate arrived with just over-cooked, big dry chunks of carnitas on it. That was it (other than a couple salsas already on the table). Just a plate of meat. They seem to have lost their love for food.
The waitress (Brunette) was incredibly discourteous. She would forget to bring things. Then when you tried to get her attention, she looked the other way. I finally stood up and asked her, she walked away. Then she started taking the order of two other tables.
We walked out. How can a restaurant survive with a waitress like this?
To be avoided.
We took some friends out to lunch and they recommended Tres Agaves, which they go to often. We all enjoyed it very much and had a great lunch.
We went on the first Sunday that they are open (just started serving on Sundays!). We were nervous that the place was empty, but we were put to ease when the waitress informed us on the Sunday thing. The staff was happy to see us for sure, and provided excellent service. This place ranks very high for Mexican food in the city.
We ordered pitchers of margaritas, which were above average. Not very strong, but still tasty. The guacamole and salsas were also good, but not great.
My wife ordered carnitas.... WOW. If you like pork, then please order a plate. I ordered the chili relleno, also fantastic and unique. They main filling was potato and cheese, instead of the usual meat. I was pleasantly surprised and loved my dish. We both ordered a side of rice and beans. They were very good. And honestly could have had one order to share... it was plentiful.
The decor is festive and I could see this place being packed with a trendy crowd any other day of the week. If you want some good Mexican food, then stop in here. I do think the prices were in the higher side for Mexican food, but still acceptable for the quality.
I’m seeing this SF health tax pop up on most of the places I always here, so do some research on that. Its controversial and personally, I think the restaurant should be footing this bill. It seems the restaurant in this city charge the Surcharge to the patron to shift blame to the city, but with a little research you’ll find that the city taxes the employer for not providing insurance. The employees are given quality healthcare by the city/state, and charges the employer for this coverage since they didn’t provide the coverage themselves.
Great food. Wonderful selection of tequila’s. The very best was Partida Elegante!!!
One of my favorite places to eat. Carne en su jugo is my favorite. And, my favorite drink is a Michelada. I recommend this place. Muy bueno!
Great food that was reasonably priced. The tacos were a little small for the price, but still delicious. Cool dining atmosphere
Great margaritas and delicious food! Loved the beef gorditas, ceviche, and carnitas. Guacamole was on point too.
Great food, poor service. Requests were not fulfilled and the Server was invisible.
The service was slow. During the 1.5 hours we were there we were able to order barely once. It took a long time to order, and get food and drinks.
Overall even though I like the establishment, I was sorely dissatisfied with the experience thus time around. Probably will not be back anytime soon...
I love this place. The food is tasty, clean and light. I’m from the DC-area so I make a point of eating here on every SF visit
Wonderful meal and wonderful service. All of our questions were answered well and service was prompt. Excellent margarita and the churros were amazing! Definitely going back
Food was good, but a tad overpriced for what you get. Service in the past has been reasonable, but this time around it was incredibly subpar. Unfortunately there aren’t many options for a business lunch in the area...
The host was able to sit us earlier than our reservation time, which was great!
The server was amazing! She sold me on the chef’s selection tacos which were camarones empanizados with a jicama slaw. I was also craving nopales because I saw it listed on a different dish. When I asked if it were possible to have a side of nopales, she was able to make my cravings come true! The sexy cocktail did NOT disappoint either. And when my friend and I had a decent amount of queso fundido left over, our server brought us over more tortillas. This might be my new favorite restaurant!
Love the food, the service was really good. My only complaint is that it was so noisy, they need to figure out a way to absorb some of the sound so you can actually talk to the person you are with instead of yelling across the table at them.
Great food and friendly service
Food was terrible. Service and ambience is good. Just without good food it doesn’t matter.
Good food and drinks but it was so loud and packed I felt like I was in a bumping night club. Lost my voice just talking to my friends. But, very good food. Not a great value.
Fairly empty /quiet on a Monday night - which was great for our catch up. Not the most efficient of service - no cocktail napkins for bar service, etc. BUT the bartender was great about plugging in a phone charger for my friend! Enchiladas were delicious (and the leftovers even more so the next day!)
Visiting San Francisco and looking for more local spot. Nice atmosphere. Food was different and interesting. I would recommend.
Comida mexicana bastante auténtica a priori. Gran selección de margaritas y cocktails de tequila. Los tacos están bien pero les falta sabor. Las salsas para las tortillas son buenas. Precio calidad está bien pero no es excepcional. Lo más destacado fue el servicio, muy amable y atento.
Our host was a very nice guy!
Very nice simple well prepared Mexican Food. Very "clean"tasting. The Mahi Mahi tacos are really really good. Great place. Will return when in town again for sure.
Nice but the main bar was closed for a special event. That really limited the drinks. The food was just ok, nothing special. I been there a few times and the service was slow every time.
Awesome food and great margaritas
This is a nice place. There are large tables for big groups. The food is very good. The margaritas are delicious. The prices are reasonable. It's pretty loud at lunch time, so conversation may be difficult in a group. Parking is a challenge and expensive, so using a ride share app may be best.
Bad food bad service. I was looking forward to the dinner with friends, it was good at one time.
Food is reliable, not great. Good margaritas although the one our server recommended was $32, which I did not know until the bill came. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. They ended up not charging us for the margarita. Good place for a drink after a Giants game if you need one but ask the price. Food portions are large so good for sharing.
Fantastic food always. Great 'ritas. Superb place to eat.
