Trento Italian American Retro Ratings and Reviews
We have been here many times now and I have done several reviews. The bread basket is still anemic. The food this night overall was very good. Mussels in spicy red sauce and clams oreganata were exceptional. Burata & fig were great. My dish was disappointing. The waiter recommend the pounded veal chop Marsala mushrooms, artichoke & cherry peppers. The veal was tough, gave my steak knife a workout. The sauce was very good (not nearly as spicy as I feared,) but the dish was very salty, could not finish it. Still, I recommend Trento as a very good Italian spot.
We have been to Trento many times. Always excellent. Hosted a birthday party here for 30 people and all the guests raved and still talk about it. That said, I have two complaints: first, the bread basket is anemic, just “pizza style” focaccia, very boring, served with “plain” olive oil just in case it was not boring enough. Step up your bread game Trento!! How about seasoned oil for starters, maybe some truffle butter? Second, the crab cakes. They are very good and presented well. But, they are not “JUMBO LUMP” as described on the menu. They are 100% backfin crab, much cheaper, stringy and less tasty. They are still good, but us CC aficionados know the difference, please adjust your menu (or better yet, use lump crab.)
I usually go to Trento for dinner and have always been pleased with the overall dining experience. This time I chose to lunch there with a friend. The food was delicious .... service amiable and attentive .... and with very few people dining, the room was quiet.
Would definitely recommend it !
I have been going to Trento for a year now. I have never had a meal I didn't LOVE!!! The Troffolini is amazing!!!! This restaurant has become our go to spot. We have taken the kids, gone on date night and have also taken our friends (sometimes even for back to back weekends). It's a great environment for all occasions. Walter and Jaime and their staff are always welcoming and accommodating. This is really an amazing place.
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to find such delicious dining locally. The ambiance was conducive to a romantic evening but unfortunately, the noise level coming from a table on the other side of the wall divider next to our table spoiled the mood. This was the reason for my description of the noise level as energetic; otherwise, I would have described it as quiet. All things considered, we are looking forward to returning soon to Trento in anticipation of another delicious dining experience and hopefully we will have quieter dining neighbors.
Very good restaurant from start to finish! The menu from apps to desserts had something for everyone. The dinner specials were very creative and delicious. We have been here on several occasions and have yet to be disappointed. Only bad thing I could say is the lighting which is always very dark. Other then that it has been very good.
Everything was good, but the Bus Boys, numerous times, were to eager, to take away our dishes, before we were finished. So, I didn't eat my Entree, since I was full from the delicious Pumpkin Squash Soup and wanted to save room for the homemade Neapolitan Cake for dessert.
I asked the bus boy, to wrap my Troffolini Entree, since I didn't eat it. I took home the bag and removed the tin container, to see, I was given the incorrect food. They gave me, a side of pasta, with sauce. I ordered Troffolini
Maybe if they weren't so eager to clean up and remove customers plates, before finished eating and focused on making sure, you give correct wrapped dishes to go. This would not have happened to me.
My husband and I were celebrating our 2 year anniversary and upon planning on where to go for dinner we remembered Trento. We had come here two years ago for a friends birthday dinner and I had an amazing goat cheese & beet salad. I still talk about it to this day. We loved the ambiance as well so we decided to go back here. It was a Tuesday night so the place wasn't very busy but did look like they had a party/event going on in room behind us (but even with that the place was pretty quiet). Our server was so sweet and very attentive. The food was pretty good, I of course was hoping to see my salad on the menu but I believe it was a special last time so I had a feeling I may not see it. Instead we ordered the slab of bacon for appetizer. Yes I said SLAB of BACON, with caramelized onions and mini raviolis. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! For dinner I ordered the Frutti Di Mare- Linguini with lobster, shrimp, mussels and scallops in a roasted garlic clam sauce. The seafood was delicious, lobster was a little tough but the sauce had a spice or definitely a kick to it which turned me off. I do not like spicy at all so I barely ate the pasta. Definitely finished all the seafood though. My husband got Fettuccine bolognese which he said was great and I tried some too, it was really good. We had cake at home so we did not get dessert. Overall I feel it was still another good experience I just wish my dinner wasn't spicy. Definitely would go here again, even if its just for the "slab of bacon".
I was taken to Trento a few years back by a Business associate. Although I enjoyed the food and wine at that point, I was unsure how the ambiance would be for a casual social event. I took the chance and coordinated a small gathering to celebrate a special Birthday. In just a few words, I will say, not only was the food delicious and the service professional and friendly, but the setting was pleasant, comfortable and enjoyable. So much so, that we didn't realize how late it was until the lights got brighter. We will be back!
An unexpected dining experience. I work in the area, but have never dined here before now.
There were a variety of appetizer and dinner specials. The meatball appetizer was amazing.
Food presentation and taste left nothing to be desired. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Will definitely return.
The number one rule when you are serving a table is NOT to clean away the used dishes before EVERYONE is done eating. Leo was a good waiter but it cost him a bigger tip because his bus boy did the wrong thing.
Your menu is overpriced. Sorry but there is no reason for those high prices. The night after I was at Trento's, three people ate and drank at one of Long Island's best restaurants for the same price as two of us at Trento's.
