Trellises Restaurant @ Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront Ratings and Reviews
I specifically searched for a week day brunch location to take my son out before his high school graduation. The information I found touted this as a prime location. Instead we found an over priced breakfast buffet with typical hotel cafeteria fair.
We needed a vegan option downtown prior to a show at Times-union, while staying at the Hyatt. We had difficulty finding decent options nearby, and realized the hotel restaurant had a couple options and decided to give it a shot. Food was excellent and service was excellent. Ambiance - a little casual and basically a lobby restaurant. All in all, excellent, not overpriced.
My husband, teen-age son, and I went to Trellises for the first time. We had a family reunion with my aunt and uncle who were staying in the hotel. They suggested we go to the hotel restaurant and we're glad we did. The food was excellent, the service was very good, and the noise level was low enough so that we could carry on a conversation.
Wouldn't recommend this place at all! We took an 11:45a reservation through open table. We got there, were seated, & the omelette station was closing. Little by little the food started going away. There wasn't much of a selection to begin with, so after removing some, there was really nothing. The only reason I didn't give a 1star for service was not for the people at the buffet stations. They would've all gotten 1's. Our waitress April was wonderful. She even went over & asked them what they were doing putting the food away. She was awesome! She is the only reason I gave a 5 for service. Don't go here for brunch. You will be disappointed!
This was an different experience for me because I usually do plated dinners. This restaurant offered a buffet which I regret participating in because of it's uniqueness. The carrots were perfect, the grean beans were perfect but the fish was smothered then covered in spinich dip! It wasn't a great combination by far. As an Executive Chef, I wouldn't have put that out but it's not my restaurant. My husband loved the mac and cheese and bbq Chicken. The desserts were equally disappointing. All of them were dried out and bland. I'm sure they'd been sitting there all day in the middle of the room. All I can say is thanks to this restaurant we'll never eat buffet style again.
Our reservation was confirmed on Openable and when we arrive we were told the Trellis restaurant was closed for a week. So we ate in the bar restaurant as we had reservations to the ballet and didn't have time to go anywhere else. We wanted my my mother, who was visiting from PA, to have a have a nice dining experience and it was DISAPPOinTing to say the least.
was greeted pleasantly, seated immediately and server was very attentive to us. food was cooked to perfection!!! Did not mind the pricing to much because the service and food was so great, noise level was a little more than desired from the hotel incoming clients, no separation or blind from the check-in desk, but it was a great experience none the less, Great place to eat!!!
We decided to try our hotel's restaurant because it was so convenient. When we were seated we were told about the buffet and encouraged to check it out. We really didn't want the buffet so we looked at the menu. At this point we were a bit discouraged. BUT our meals turned out to be very good. I enjoyed the vegetarian pappardelle. The veggies were chopped and crisp cooked and added to the flavor of the pasta dish. My salad was fresh and its presentation very good. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie and it had so much chicken he couldn't finish it. I took a taste and the meat was melt in your mouth tender. The service was prompt and attentive. The restaurant is located in the large lobby. So if you like people watching this is the place for you.
Nothing to rave about. Decided to go with the Saturday night buffet because of a time constraint. Few Choices on buffet. Meatloaf dry and chicken breasts tasted like pre-frozen. Later heard from others that had tried Trellises that all said food was not good.
I had my son performing at the Hyatt, so while he was doing that I made a reservation in order to try Trellises. I was impressed with the food, but it took more than 40 minutes from the time I ordered until I received the food. The management and my server were apologetic, but had I been in a time sensitive situation I would not have gotten to eat. They did comp my meal. The restaurant needs to get a better handle in order to provide quality food in a timely manner through a kitchen that also provides for the pub, the banquets and the in-room dining service. I will try it again, but only because of the server and the manager who both were apologetic. Will consider recommending to others, but will advise them of the possible delay between ordering and receiving meal.
We celebrated Valentine's Day here choosing the Chef's Prie Fix Menu. The food was delish and the service was excellent. The hotel's valet was full when we arrived too but when we mentioned having reservations at the restaurant they took care of us no problem! The regular menu looked to have traditional American family fare but if the quality is up to par with what we had it should be just as good!
I had the Prime Rib buffet on New Years Eve and the Prime Rib was good but the sides and desserts were terrible. You can get better desserts at any grocery store (Winn Dixie , Publix etc.)
My girlfriend had a steak and it was ok but her sides were also very poor.
Both meals were very overpriced and they did not have enough servers working.
Looking for a place with a varied menu, good service and pleasant atmosphere? Our group was
looking for such a place to go to before attending a performance at The Florida Theater. We didn't want to drive around looking for parking spots so we wanted to walk to dining from the theater parking before the show. After hours of searching all the choices within 1/2 mile of the theater, and there are many good ones to chose from, after reading the menus of the ones who sounded interesting, we chose Trellises at the Hyatt.. not romantic, not for "foodies", not for the wine list, but for the variety of food for our picky eater, our vegan, our meat and potatoes guy and our dieter.. the food was a safe choice without being boring, we had the wines of our choices, when the manager came by to check on us and we mentioned one friends bar drink wasn't the best, he replaced it, and a steak was not done as ordered, it was redone.. no food was left on plates and we lingered over some great desserts and coffee before the show. Friendly staff, efficient service, tasty food, priced well, located on the river, all in a clean, comfortable location only a two block walk from the Florida Theater... I would recommend it, especially if you have a larger group that requires a varied menu.
I was staying at the Hyatt and had been around to a few spots outside of the hotel and decided to give Trellises a try. The dining room is open to the lobby of the hotel but back enough to where it is not distracting. The food and service was really good, and I would recommend going especially if you are staying at the hotel.
There was a dispute between our actual server and the head waiter on who should be getting the tip. We gave our actual server the tip but the head server had her give it back. He then came to our table and said that she was been paid by the hour and he was not. Why wasn't this discussed in advance by all workers so that they all knew who should get the tip? If it was discussed in advanced then what kind of unprofessinal help did they hire who would take someone's tip. We constantly had to look for someone to refill drinks. The table next to us literally got up and helped themselves to their own drinks which was in a try nearby because the staff seems to be missing. Very unprofessional for the amount of money we had to pay.
Recently, I visiting your establishment for the first time. I must admit that I was a tad annoyed upon my arrival when I saw the entrance line curved around the corner. However, pleasingly, the line moved much quicker than I expected. Once seated, the variety of menu items exceeded my expectations, as well. The waitress was also very cordial and absolutely awesome. I will definitely dine at this establishment again.
My boyfriend and I went to Trellises for the first time on Valentine's Day and it was great. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect since we were going to a restaurant in a hotel but everything was much better than expected. The staff was great, our server Lisa was amazing. She was very friendly and made sure we were doing well every time she passed us. The atmosphere was nice and romantic as well. The food was delicious, and we will definitely be going back to try some of their other dishes. They helped to make our Valentine's Day pretty great for sure.
The restaurant was inside the Hyatt hotel, which is on the riverfront. The restaurant is in the middle of the lobby which makes it somewhat noisy at times. It also makes it difficult to view the river from the restaurant. The wait staff were very attentive and slows down as it becomes a little more crowded. The food was delicious and attractive. The cooks did a very good job. It was a weekday and I would enjoy eating there when there are no events.
Generally don't eat at hotel restaurants but weather was bad. I have not had this poor service often. For example, when cleaning table after we had our appetizer all the silverware was removed. When our entrees were served we were not given new silverware. It took a couple of minutes for the waitress to re-appear to ask "how is everything?" We then asked for new silverware. 5 minutes passed from when the check arrived until it was retrieved. Very poorly trained staff.
The only reason I am rating this restaurant this high is because my girl knew a server there. She ended uptaking care of us, but what a horrible experience from the beginning. Our first server was horrible. I can't be nice about it because it was Valentine's Day. We waited forever for our bottle of wine. Forget wine service! They did not even open up the bottle of wine at out table.
As I was coming down from New York on St. Valentine's Day, virtually every prime restaurant in Jacksonville was booked at least 1 week in advance for dinner. And I thought they were just holding out, so I called a few to be certain. Open Table helped find a niche for my girlfriend and I.
As we arrived on time, we found a great corner booth away from the rest of the venue where we could drink champagne and exchange gifts. We found the menu to be easy to navigate as it was filled with meat and seafood favorites.
Our orders for sirloin and ribeye steaks were perfectly executed. I informed the line supervisor and the manager of this as I know how much training went into making our meals stunning.
We went on a pretty busy night. It was the New Years Eve and night before the Gator Bowl so the place was full of the 2 university's fans. Very small menu but the wait staff was the best. The management was on the prowel ensuring quality was not lost due to the large volume of people. The scallops were large and perfectly cooked. I wish there was more options for entrees. Your choices are salmon, pasta, scallops or steak.
Firstly I was advised the incorrect amount of 24.95 per person when infact it was 29.95 pp. I made this reservation online for a total of 11 people. I received an email confirmation. Then on the day of I received a call from the restaurant stating that they could not fit me and my party in.I spoke to the banquet manager who finally kept our reservation. When we get there we tell the waiter that we need 2 high chairs for our 2 toddlers.the waiter sees that we are holding toddlers in our hands but yet he takes forever to bring out the high chairs. We ordered 2 bottles of wine but he did not know what the wine selection was. We waited over 45 mins for our soft drinks. The service was not up to par. The food was great and so were all the chefs
I think we must have hit Trellises on a bad night. The main dining area was closed so our party of 5 was seated at a long table along the wall in the bar area. Food was acceptable but pricey for the quantity. Wine pours seemed skimpy for the price and there was no happy hour (we arrived at 6:15). And while our server was pleasant, the pace was slow, particularly given the few people in the dining room.
Mother's Day Brunch is outstanding and hard to beat. The food offerings are over the top - in a good way. You will never elave there hungry. I think perhaps the service lacked just a little - but no real complaints - when you are feeding hundreds of people on a day like Mother's Day, things can be a little hectic. Mother's Day 2013 - we'll be back!
