Went here for happy hour tonight. Service was horrible. We waited about 10 minutes after the server assistant brought waters before the waiter came over. We ordered some food and wine. After the waiter brought the wine, that was the last time he came by our table. No check in after the food was delivered or an ask if we wanted anything else. When I hunter him down to pay our tab, he mentioned they were understaffed. However, he seemed to have time to check on the two tables next to us multiple times. We got a somewhat gratuitous apology after hunting the waiter down to pay our tab. I’ve been here before and had a stellar experience so hoping this was a fluke. All in all- for a restaurant of this caliber, a mediocre experience.
Prime Rib Sunday and Monday is worth the drive. We stopped in with the kids for prime rib and Beecher's cheese burgers. Great place to people watch and finish off your night with a short walk down to the waterfront for a incredible sunset.
I was really disappointed with the Father's Day brunch. A lot of the food was cold and the potatoes were still hard and not cooked all the way through. For $29.99 a person it should have been a lot better. It almost felt like a next morning free continental breakfast. Our server was not even energetic. Never said Happy Fathers Day and it was my husbands first one. It was quite difficult paying the bill. Should have said something.
Booked a last minute reservation for brunch on Sunday which also happened to be Fathers' Day. On arrival we were told the only option was the brunch buffet for 30 dollars a piece and no ala carte options. Wish that had be stated on the website or opentable because we would have looked elsewhere . There was made to order eggs which took forever to get to us despite handing off the order cards before lining up for the buffet. Food was ok but not memorable. We were charged for coffee but this was removed from the bill when asked about it not being included in the buffet so check your bills carefully if you choose to eat here. Service was slow at best but I dont know if it was that way due to buffet options. All in all a completely forgettable experience.
Made Reservations for Fathers Day Brunch, forced to wait 20 min to get a seat which wasn’t what we requested. Only service was Buffet, low quality food, poor selection. Made to order omelette was poor, balance of egg to ingredients way off, took forever to receive. Price was ridiculous for the quality. Cute location, disappointing experience.
Very disappointed tonight at Trellis. Ordered oysters and they smelled off, tasted very fishy and were not very cold. They looked like they had been shucked yesterday. I got no apology from management or acknowledgement that we had a problem. Last time I'm going to Trellis.
This restaurant really needs a re-do. The vinyl seat in the booth was cracked open and the wood table has been washed off so many times, the varnish is worn off.
Great tasting for foodies
Service was inattentive and spotty. Took 15 min to get some to take our coffee order. Food came out 45 min after that. They forgot part of our order and we had to ask people 3 times to get it. The same with getting cream/sugar for coffee.
Everyone was pleasant and food was fine. People around us seemed to be getting more attention... maybe our server was having an off day?
The restaurant wasn't busy, at least half the tables were empty. And yet Service was still dreadful.
After waiting 20 minutes for anyone to stop by to take our order I went in search of a waiter. He takes our order and, knowing we've already had to wait a while, promises he'll be right back with our drinks.
Another 15-20 minutes, still no sign of anyone, and I've got to (again!) go hunting for someone to get served.
Yeah, it's a bother when waiters stop by every two minutes to ask how your meal is. Trellis takes that to the other extreme and makes you search for wait staff repeatedly.
The food was subpar, and due to a lack of employees, service was minimal at best.
This is a go to spot for a healthy breakfast. The entrees are well balanced. We have dined here for years and love the outdoor sitting area. My one wish for the Trellis team is to hire a great service team. They miss coffee refills and have too many steps or back tracking to get items for
Perhaps an off day, but the steak was super fatty and the roasted potatoes bland. Halibut was good but really small filet without much to go with it. Overall, not many inspiring menu.
Was several years since lunching at Trellis. Quality of food and presentation spotty. Limited menu and out of chicken and ahi . . .prawn salad was mainly arugula in a heavy dressing. . .too overpowering to eat it all esp with grilled red onion strips in it. . .2 prawns were good. No daily specials. Your original Chef must be gone. . .served fresh from farm greens and creative dishes. Had many meals there, but not a return esp since prices were higher for less :0( Shucks.
I like to eat at Trellis because of its convenient location, quiet setting and usual ease of getting a reservation. At my recent visit my friend and I both had the smaller portion of two salad options. Both were generously sized for being “small” and mine had a full chicken breast. We were satisfied with our food. However, there were a couple mix-ups with the hostess. I arrived early, gave my name and confirmed my reservation. I said I was waiting for my friend. Ten minutes later I got a text from my friend. She’d been in the dining room the whole time and had asked the hostess to let me know. Later I got an e-mail asking me why I’d failed to show up for my reservation.
We used to love Trellis for special occasions, and we hadn't been in a year or more, so we went for Mother's Day dinner this last weekend. It was a big disappointment! The food is way too expensive to be mediocre, and three menu items (clams & mussels, baby beet salad, and confit potatoes) weren't available that day on their very short menu! We settled on two prime rib dinners and seasonal fish (halibut). All were "meh." The asparagus that accompanied the prime rib dinners was terrible -- charred, dry and flavorless. The organic lettuces salad was very good, though. And my husband liked the red pepper soup. Service was slow. I hope Trellis just had an "off" day. But I don't think we'll trust them with a special occasion again anytime soon.
Had a great time. Food was excellent. Will definitely return!
Mother's Day was not as good as usual. We were disappointed with the food. The service was outstanding, food not so much.
They seated us to the left of the bar pretty much in an area by the main entrance and not in the nicer dining area so for the occasion I was pretty disappointed since I had made reservations well in advance and felt like we were put off in a corner in a lower end seating area.
Had a terrific Mother's Day brunch! Food and service were great and my wife had a terrific time!
On a pleasantly warm day, it would’ve helped to have your patio covers up. It was stale, hot and loud in the patio. No air flow at all.
It’s a gorgeous venue. Service can be underwhelming at times, but overall a great local spot.
Table was way too close to the donut station and the whole table shook because the dryers for the hotel were right above it.
We had lunch for a business meeting. It was quiet enough that we could hear each other, GREAT service, and lovely food. If it had been just a bit warmer, would have been nice to sit outside on the patio. Will definitely visit again!
I enjoy the comfortable and quiet booths at Trellis, along with what usually is quality, tasty food and good service. The last two times I was there a couple things bothered me: the finish on the wooden tables is seriously in need of refinishing and several menu items were served on wooden planks which also seem like they’d seen better days. For a “high-end” restaurant, this didn’t seem right. Also, since the change of management and staff the restaurant appears much less popular than it once was. The dining room was nearly empty the last two times I was there - once for lunch and once for dinner. Despite all this, we enjoyed our food and the restaurant hospitality at both visits.
A series of disappointments on an uncrowded Friday night: no seasonal fish, no clams and mussels, fryer broken so no fries with the burger (one of the few available entrees). Can soup be substituted for the fries? "No, only a salad." Not what we were expecting.
Great food From halibut, to pork cheeks, to burgers, & dont forget the Brussels sprouts, we enjoy it all. Cheers to wait staff & chefs, & food preppers!
Jason is the best!
If there could be more perfect a dining experience, I can't think of it. The service was quick and friendly, the ambience was classy, and the food... Well, everyone in our party of 5 cleaned their plates. I'll definitely be back.
Took forever to get our food and it wasn’t busy. Maybe only about 4 other tables were occupied.
Food, service, quality beyond outstanding. Noise from the bar distracting and unfortunate.
The food was tasty and the environment was pleasant. Overall it was very good.
I had been looking forward to trying Trellis and went last week to celebrate a personal milestone. Our waitress was very good, but it seemed like she lacked the time to manage all of her tables. I had to flag her down to tell her my "roasted potatoes" were ice cold; why didn't she come by to check herself on our meal?
She explained that their chef had just left, and things were a bit unsettled in the kitchen. It turns out that the new chef wasn't even in the kitchen at the time my cold potatoes were served with my hot steak (most expensive item on the menu, no less). I understand that turmoil sometimes upends things, but why wasn't the new chef there to oversee his green staff at dinner time?
To round things out, I had to ask twice for the coffee I ordered with my dessert.
I will NOT be back.
Our server was attentive and friendly, and I'm looking forward to trying their happy hour.
Went there for Seattle restaurant week. The shrimp and grits was really good as was the salad special. The pasta was so so but the salade nicoise with albacore tuna was wonderful. And, don’t forget the Trellis cookie desert! Amazing!
Took advantage of the 3 for $33 special and half price bottle night. Excellent service. Love the new potential menu items including the artichoke bisque. The a’Maurice Viognier was perfect with the salmon preparation.
I've never had less than a very good meal at Trellis. I'm sometimes disappointed when my favorite dishes are removed from the menu. But overall, it's one of my go-to places on the Eastside.
We loved afternoon tea here! But please beware, you must call to reserve afternoon tea in advance. You cannot make afternoon tea reservations online or they will not have the food for you and you will have to order from their regular brunch menu.
One of our fav place in Kirkland
We really enjoyes our time there. The food was delicious the service was very good too.
