The food was tasty and the environment was pleasant. Overall it was very good.
I had been looking forward to trying Trellis and went last week to celebrate a personal milestone. Our waitress was very good, but it seemed like she lacked the time to manage all of her tables. I had to flag her down to tell her my "roasted potatoes" were ice cold; why didn't she come by to check herself on our meal?
She explained that their chef had just left, and things were a bit unsettled in the kitchen. It turns out that the new chef wasn't even in the kitchen at the time my cold potatoes were served with my hot steak (most expensive item on the menu, no less). I understand that turmoil sometimes upends things, but why wasn't the new chef there to oversee his green staff at dinner time?
To round things out, I had to ask twice for the coffee I ordered with my dessert.
I will NOT be back.
Our server was attentive and friendly, and I'm looking forward to trying their happy hour.
Went there for Seattle restaurant week. The shrimp and grits was really good as was the salad special. The pasta was so so but the salade nicoise with albacore tuna was wonderful. And, don’t forget the Trellis cookie desert! Amazing!
Took advantage of the 3 for $33 special and half price bottle night. Excellent service. Love the new potential menu items including the artichoke bisque. The a’Maurice Viognier was perfect with the salmon preparation.
I've never had less than a very good meal at Trellis. I'm sometimes disappointed when my favorite dishes are removed from the menu. But overall, it's one of my go-to places on the Eastside.
We loved afternoon tea here! But please beware, you must call to reserve afternoon tea in advance. You cannot make afternoon tea reservations online or they will not have the food for you and you will have to order from their regular brunch menu.
We really enjoyes our time there. The food was delicious the service was very good too.
We had breakfast here and everything was delicious. I really enjoyed my egg white omelet with local mushrooms and spinach. The sourdough bread was excellent. I had the turmeric ginger herbal tea for the first time and that was fantastic. Highly recommend this place for breakfast.
Stressed out service team. Oysters persoaked in mignonette not ideal. Caesar salad strange. Excellent wine and dessert. Chef left, sous chef and staff in flux. Give them a few months. Stellar complimentary ride home when Uber cancelled.
I've been going to Trellis for years and they've gone thru several changes in their kitchen....some improvements, some not. They still need more entree size salads with the opportunity to add shrimp or chicken etc. Normally the service is good but this time it was horrible. We sat for 45 mins waiting to order a drink after repeatedly stopping servers and asking when we could order. We were told their was only one server??? Why....during a busy dinner time??? Finally the manager came and took our drink order.
It was incredibly loud on the patio and we could barely hear each other talk.
We ordered two appetizers and two salads and we were denied using our Passport card when it's been accepted before for the least expensive item. I was too exhausted to argue with them.
I hope they add more staff, more salads and bring shrimp back.
They fired the chef the day before and didn't tell anyone.... The food was tasteless. we have been there before and enjoyed it, but to fire the chef and not let reservation holders know is wrong !!! The new management has no moral fiber and put the dollar ahead of their customers!!! I spent $175 for crap food and disappointed guests.
Great place for brunch and enjoy a conversation with friends during the weekend. Friendly staffs and nice selections on the menu.
I highly recommend this restaurant and the Heathman for any special occasion or just a casual get together. The customer service from the instant I walked in to the point we left was impeccable. Wonderful rooms, food was amazing, drinks were creative, and the staff positive and upbeat. Will definitely return again soon.
Don’t usually review, but we were really disappointed in our Valentine meal. We were kept waiting for over half an hour past our week long reservation, and then they wanted to seat us on the patio. When requesting a seat inside, they accommodated is by placing us right next to the kitchen door, even though there were 5 or so empty tables right beyond us. They also decided to do a (very) limited menu, and the choices were poor...spare ribs, scallops, pepperdella pasta, and ?, and they had raised the prices to $55 for a 3 courses. There were no salads available. If the food had been amazing, it might have made up for the menu, but the dishes were a 5 of 10 at best. We have been here many times before, and this was the worst meal we have had. Lackluster all the way around...Perhaps under different management ??

Great food and drinks as always! Our waitress, Sarah, is newer but she was wonderful even she was a bit busy.
Brunch was delicious; food was aesthetically pleasing and absolutely delectable.
The service was excellent and very efficient. We were able to sit at a patio table because they have a very nice enclosing for the winter months with nice warm heating. The lavender french toast was unique and delicious and they serve local Cafe Vita coffee, brewed to perfection. Looking forward to returning again to try their dinner menu.

Farm to table food at Trellis is good at always. This time, our service is even better than in the past. I look forward to go back again soon.

The ambiance was delightful. Clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was fresh and delicious. Reasonably priced.
When we approached the greeter, they asked “can we help you?”. Not, “Hi, welcome, we’re glad you’re here”. We sat at the table, there were only a couple other people at the restaurant, atmosphere was very low of energy, looked up and there was a dead moth in the light fixture right above our heads. We had a couple of glasses and started with a bread appetizer. The waiter was not helpful in telling the difference between the two that they offer. When we received the bread, it was awful. Cold, hard, like it had been left out for three days and no rosemary as indicated. We inquired about the menu items, and when once again, questions were very difficult for him to answer, we asked for the bill and went down the street to Hector’s, which was great. I do not recommend this place.
Terrible.....we went at 2:25 and was told they were not seating because they stopped serving lunch at 2:30......we were there early ...we had a 6 pm reservations....so told her to cancel that ...and she could not find our reservation...so we left......
First time eating at Trellis. We checked in on Christmas Day and had the special Christmas dinner menu. Several choices to pick from for each course. Very good choices. I was very happy to have a fresh oyster choice for first course. My husband enjoyed the crab salad. He had scallops as entree and I really enjoyed the beef with a bone marrow sauce. The beef was cooked perfectly and I had some leftover to take home. I had honey chestnut pudding for dessert and my husband had the bread pudding. We were both happy. There was an amuse bouche at the beginning of the meal. Nothing special. Also a glass of Rose or sparkling cider. The Rose was perfect with my oysters. I had one of the best cocktails ever. A Manhattan made with duck fat infused Buffalo Trace Bourbon.
We stayed the night and had breakfast before leaving. Good, but not great.
We would definitely go back for Christmas dinner if it was offered. Considering the staff was working on Christmas, everyone was friendly, helpful and appeared happy to be there.
Christmas Day Dinner: after a rough year our family wanted to splurge on a truly special Christmas dinner. The food was beautiful and delicious. Our table by the emergency exit was less than elegant, and the staff did their job but was formal and not particularly fun or engaging. At more than $100 per person this was by far the most expensive meal we've ever eaten but not the most delicious, elegant or fun. Really really good but not epic for the high price.

Low key fine dining for every meal. Food prepared well for a special meal (not standard fare and well prepared and presented), very nice breakfast service. Service is casual and somewhat detracts from the fine restaurant dining experience (food passed across the table when not necessary to pass), but attentive and friendly, and that is what is important to us!
Easy access for handicapped family/ friends, but ask for table if a booth would be a problem.
Set price three course menu choices for Christmas were lovely but seemed rather high priced for the overall experience. We all enjoyed our meal and were grateful for the Christmas day service.
wait time was far too long for entrees. multiple staff apologized for this incuding manager who offered to make it up to us. unfortunately that was simply a free dessert we didnt order. we all including two 6 year olds waited nearly 45 minutes for entrees.very disappointed as we typically enjoy the restaurant and have recommended the hotel to visiting guests.
Trellis has been our office Christmas lunch venue for the past three years. We looked forward to another great lunch this year but the menu and the quality had changed for the worse. The menu is very limited with offering you would expect to find at Denny’s. Two of us ordered chicken Caesars that were two full heads of hearts of Romaine split lengthwise that was very lightly dressed. The chicken was fine but not abundant enough to keep up with the romaine. The rest of us got BLTAs that were okay but cold and flavorless. Only one of us finished it. The house wines have also slipped. We won’t be back. It’s too bad because this used to be great place to go.
We had early-morning breakfast for 2. The restaurant was empty, the server was attentive, the menu had such creative, locally-sourced options. The food was rich and the portions were large. We took home a carry out box, and the leftovers were delicious the next day.
Hands down, THE best "French dip" in the world! Delicious prime rib sandwich, I've been thinking of it non stop since I ate there Friday! Will return with husband. I can't think of any restaurant on the Eastside that's worth the drive over the bridge from Seattle other than Trellis!
I didn’t find the menu very interesting. My Caesar salad was the worst one I have ever had, I was so disappointed.

I went there for brunch with some friends. It costs a little more than average and for what I ordered. The servers were friendly and the mini donuts tasty! Next time I go, I will order something out of the ordinary.
It's quite different since the remodel to more casual & a drastic reduction in menu choices. Liked it much better before. I was dismayed having brought friends for the first time. $7 for a mediocre bread basket is outrageous. I've always liked the creativity & attention to local but this will not be on my evening dining list any longer.
