Trellis Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We loved Trellis. It's a beautiful restaurant on the outside and inside. They have several rooms for dining and an outdoor patio, but the front room was where we sat and it has a pretty view through the large glass windows. The room is quite nice for dining with an Italian feel to match the cuisine. We started with the spinach salad with grilled mushrooms, sliced cherry tomatoes and shaved, roasted nuts. It was delicious and the portions excellent. Then we have the shrimp appetizer and they give your a hearty portion of nicely grilled shrimp in an olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. We loved it. For entrees we had the fresh petrale sole fish served with orzo and mixed vegetables. And we had the grilled scallops. Both were excellent. For a side dish we had penne pasta with tomato meat sauce. They made a special half order for that. Overall, this is a fine restaurant in Menlo Park with great food and ambiance. Also the owner is very friendly and seems to thoroughly enjoy providing a great Italian meal! It's definitely a restaurant we want to try again.
We love this restaurant and eat here often. Wonderful menu choices, excellent food and very attentive service. I don't eat meat, and I have lots of options at Trellis that are delicious. They will adapt any dish. Yesterday I ordered pesto pasta with sundried tomatoes without the chicken. It was GREAT. And for dessert, I had creme brulee which was the best I had ever had.
I feel fortunate to have this wonderful restaurtant in our neighborhood.
We go to Trellis at least once a month. All of my grandchildren love Trellis. They love the pastas and bread. The salads are excellent, and all of the entrees are great--veal, chicken and steak. The wine list is very good and not over-priced. We at outside in the patio. It was quiet and extremely pleasant. Our server , who always takes care of us, was great. Trellis is great.
What a nice surprise. The only reason I booked this was because of the picture. I probably wouldn't have booked this place by driving by. The outdoor seating on the roof is nice. I'll definitely come back, but next time I'll come up the back alley directly up the stairs and on to the roof.
I'm not a big fan of bread before the meal, but this bread was GREAT. It seemed hot, right out of the oven --- melt in your mouth.
As a long-time Trellis customer, I am saddened to leave a negative review. The central issue concerns a member of our dinner party who has a severe garlic allergy, and called in advance to inquire if they would accommodate him with a tomato sauce without garlic. The owner assured him that they would -- all he had to do was ask. When ordering, the request was made. However, when his chicken parmigiana arrived, it was a piece of breaded chicken with a slice of tomato on top. No sauce. When asked, the waiter said they couldn't make one. Later, after speaking with the owner, a garlic-free tomato sauce arrived, but at that point, our entire party had finished eating. After dinner, when speaking with the owner again, he was dismissive, saying that the kitchen was busy and it was hot, so they didn't want to make the sauce. No apology. No offer to comp the meal (there were 9 of us). Nothing. What a disappointment.
Very worn decor, loud tv on over the bar during dinner service. The food was below average in quality and taste, especially considering the area. If you're trying to impress a client or even a significant other, eat somewhere else. If you are just trying to grab dinner because not much else is open in the area on a Monday, this place will do ok, but keep your expectations on cleanliness, attentiveness, and good in check.
Trellis is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always excellent. There are many very good choices of salads and entrees, and my grandchildren lover going there. We inevitably get the same server, who is always attentive. Because of the nice weather, we ate outside in the upstairs patio (as did everyone else). It was quiet, warm and very pleasant. I am sure that we will be back in Trellis next month.
The food is consistently excellent and the staff is friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.
The menu offers a large selection, theres a full bar and excellent wine list.
I have dinner at Trellis whenever I'm in the Mountain View area, and have been going there for more than 15 years.
It was my birthday, and my younger son, his wife and my two granddaughters wanted to go out to dinner with us. Where should we go that the girls would like? Trellis, I was told even though we had been there with the same group two weeks previously. Trellis it was. It feels like our neighborhood place to go. The food is always excellent, the choices are varied, the service is excellent and the wine list is very good and not grossly over-priced. It was another excellent evening. The adults had two salads and two minestrone soups to start, two salmons, a chicken dish and veal for entrees. All were great. The girls, 7 and 4, love the pasta dishes that the kitchen prepares for them.
