Trellis Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This place is just terrible for vegetarians. My wife and I went there for Valentine’s Day. They had a “special” menu on that day, and it had no vegetarian entree’s, like none. We had to leave the place and go next door to Black Pepper Asian Fusion Restaurant, which was far more hep and far more fun.
Sorry, but a strict “no” for vegetarians.
Bread for the table was delicious, really soft and flakey. Calimari was also nice, larger pieces than most other restaurants. Had the Salmon dish with sun dried tomatoes. It was perfect, fish was cooked perfectly and the tomatoes or orzo were tasty. Also got the veal cannolini, which my date and I both decided had a lot of mozzarella cheese, giving the dish a pizza vibe.
We are regulars at Trellis, love to come here for Birthdays and such , but also just for a nice evening out. Always friendly service and the food is fantastic . Great selection of wines by the glass , too, as well as a full bar .The pasta dish called Susma’s Downfall is my personal favorite!
Everything weve tried on the menu here is excellent. They have a very good variety of Italian dishes and it is all delicious and very nicely presented. The service is excellent and each area of the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We often come here on special occasions and Date Nights and will most definitely be back again..
My wife and I have always had great meals there, never an off night and the Caesar salad is best we've had anywhere in the world. Lately, I've started bringing larger groups there. With good weather, there is outdoor seating on a roof deck and a two private rooms that can be used, each with it's own adjacent bar. We had 14 in the upstairs private room and enjoyed the privacy and the seating was allowed all to partake in the dinner conversation. The seating in back of the restaurant near kitchen is less attractive but quiet and cozy. Fabulous food wins the day!
Excellent food. We were trying Trellis for the first time on Christmas Day which is always a little scary but they had a reservation time available and we trusted the other reviews we read. Glad we did. Terrific swordfish and veal dishes . We have high standards for Italian food and weren’t disappointed. We will definitely be back!
A few of my friends and I get together for a very long (and alcoholic) lunch at Trellis every December holiday season. The food is wonderful; the staff is very attentive; the owner always makes a point of stopping by our table to greet us and ensure that we are happy.
Had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant from beginning to end. As my party was being taken back to our table, we noticed a plate of bruschetta that was being prepared for a large private party. We asked our server, Mila, if we could get an order of that and although it wasn't on the menu she graciously had an order made for us. The service throughout the meal was outstanding, all of the staff who stopped the table were very warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this to others and plan to return :)
We loved Trellis. It's a beautiful restaurant on the outside and inside. They have several rooms for dining and an outdoor patio, but the front room was where we sat and it has a pretty view through the large glass windows. The room is quite nice for dining with an Italian feel to match the cuisine. We started with the spinach salad with grilled mushrooms, sliced cherry tomatoes and shaved, roasted nuts. It was delicious and the portions excellent. Then we have the shrimp appetizer and they give your a hearty portion of nicely grilled shrimp in an olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. We loved it. For entrees we had the fresh petrale sole fish served with orzo and mixed vegetables. And we had the grilled scallops. Both were excellent. For a side dish we had penne pasta with tomato meat sauce. They made a special half order for that. Overall, this is a fine restaurant in Menlo Park with great food and ambiance. Also the owner is very friendly and seems to thoroughly enjoy providing a great Italian meal! It's definitely a restaurant we want to try again.
We love this restaurant and eat here often. Wonderful menu choices, excellent food and very attentive service. I don't eat meat, and I have lots of options at Trellis that are delicious. They will adapt any dish. Yesterday I ordered pesto pasta with sundried tomatoes without the chicken. It was GREAT. And for dessert, I had creme brulee which was the best I had ever had.
I feel fortunate to have this wonderful restaurtant in our neighborhood.
We go to Trellis at least once a month. All of my grandchildren love Trellis. They love the pastas and bread. The salads are excellent, and all of the entrees are great--veal, chicken and steak. The wine list is very good and not over-priced. We at outside in the patio. It was quiet and extremely pleasant. Our server , who always takes care of us, was great. Trellis is great.
What a nice surprise. The only reason I booked this was because of the picture. I probably wouldn't have booked this place by driving by. The outdoor seating on the roof is nice. I'll definitely come back, but next time I'll come up the back alley directly up the stairs and on to the roof.
I'm not a big fan of bread before the meal, but this bread was GREAT. It seemed hot, right out of the oven --- melt in your mouth.
As a long-time Trellis customer, I am saddened to leave a negative review. The central issue concerns a member of our dinner party who has a severe garlic allergy, and called in advance to inquire if they would accommodate him with a tomato sauce without garlic. The owner assured him that they would -- all he had to do was ask. When ordering, the request was made. However, when his chicken parmigiana arrived, it was a piece of breaded chicken with a slice of tomato on top. No sauce. When asked, the waiter said they couldn't make one. Later, after speaking with the owner, a garlic-free tomato sauce arrived, but at that point, our entire party had finished eating. After dinner, when speaking with the owner again, he was dismissive, saying that the kitchen was busy and it was hot, so they didn't want to make the sauce. No apology. No offer to comp the meal (there were 9 of us). Nothing. What a disappointment.
