Some of the best pasta I've ever had. Portions are small though so don't be shy about ordering appetizers!
Food was modest at best, and service was poor, to say the least. Waiter didn't make first appearance until 15 minutes after we had been seated, and then never returned after taking our order to check how the entrees turned out. Disappointing experience all around. There are hundreds of better Italian restaurants in the city that are more deserving of your time and money.
Outstanding food, good service and a good value. (It is not cheap but worth every penny.) We were there on the last night before closing for renovations which will address our one and only concern, which is noise. It is very hard to have a conversation, but the management reassures us that this will be taken care of. We can't wait to go back the minute they reopen!
Affordable, excellent food and service. Always a stop for me when passing though Chicago.
This is the second time I have dined at this restaurant in one week. The selections are varied and interesting, but I always choose the same items: barbabietole and pasta arrabiata. These dishes are prepared well, they are tasty and the presentation is excellent. My companion had Pasta fagioli soup and raved about it. We will definitely be back, and maybe I'll try something different!
A wonderful local restaurant that is well worth a return visit.
We had good service, the food was good and everyone was nice and accommodating. However, the workers were all foreign with strong accents making it really difficult to understand them.
Everything was wonderful! Went there for NYE dinner and I was very satisfied! The lasagna is to die for!
Fantastic food and service as usual. The general manager is always visible and comes to talk to you. Authentic food. Love it!
Favorite restaurant in Chicago. Hands down. Mic drop!
Delicious, very authentic pizza and pasta. Convenient walk to Navy Pier.
Delicious food. Scallops and risotto were both incredible. Waiter was so accommodating to our family. Our kids loved the calamari and pizza, although really it's probably better for families with slightly older children as the noise level is low, and it's a really nice restaurant. We really enjoyed it.
Very attentive but not overbearing service! Food was delicious! Wonderful ambiance... Our children (ages 19, 16, 12 and 12) enjoyed our adult evening out with them! The location was very easy to get to from Michigan Ave. Easy walk from our hotel only a few blocks away. I would strongly recommend for a date night or family dinner!
My husband had the special which was trout on fingerling potatoes with arugula on top. I had the salmon on their regular menu which came with artichokes, potatoes and green salsa drizzle. Both were very tasty with many flavors playing well together. Atmosphere was warm and comfortable.
Excellent fare and true Italian wine selection. Excellent service, will definitely return.
Dependably great food, service, and value.
We shared a pizza as a starter and it was outstanding. Pasta dishes were solid. Great meal.
We have eaten here several times and will go back again. The food is consistently excellent, especially for the price. The only downside is that the same value does not carry over to the wine list. The atmosphere is fun and lively, though they will soon remodel so check reviews after they reopen mid-January.
Took forever for them to have my table ready, an 8pm reservation turned into a 8:35pm seating. The service was a bit slow and the waiter seemed to be in a rush to see other tables. Although, the food was very good and the ambiance matched it well. Overall, I found it to be a good place for a date for the price, but faulty in some restaurant fundamentals.
We really enjoyed Tre Soldi. Very nice atmosphere, and th food was great!
This was our second visit to Tre Soldi-the food is fantastic (including extensive and delicious homemade, gluten-free menu options!) and the cocktails and wine are perfect to fit the menu-we never leave hungry or disappointed! Highly recommended!
Tre Soldi was bustling on Friday night. I thoroughly enjoyed the fried calamari appetizer and LOVED the Cacio e Pepe. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious! Tasted exactly the same as when I had the dish in Italy! Atmosphere was energetic and fun, service was competent.
The food was delicious. They have a diverse menu so there is something for everyone. The restaurant was noisy, though, so it was hard to hear us across the table.
The lasagna and Milanesed (embraced by fresh arugula) were lovely. Service was fine, although a touch inattentive. I recommend getting a reservation. A good value except for the wine list.
Will go back again pleasantly surprised the food was very good and it is right in the neighborhood.
Had the seafood di mare. Tiarmisu. All very good. Unique squids pasta. Excellent service and atmosphere.
The service here was fantastic and the food was delicious, healthy and very fresh tasting.
Gluten free pizza was great! No deep dish available though.
Started evening with cocktails. Great martini & vodka collins. Salads were huge and very good. Lasagne was best my friend ever tasted. She's 55. I had ravioli. It was very good. Dessert was chocolate tiramisu. Excellent. Would definitely go again.
The food was excellent. They serve wine and beer which was good for our group. Staff was very attentive but not annoyingly so. Price was good for a group dinner.
I made the reservation for 7:00pm, the time on my confirmation email, but when I got there, they had my reservation at 9:00pm. That was concerning, but they moved things around to get us a table without waiting.
The food was excellent. I would recommend it.
Outstanding casual place with excellent food and good service. On our most recent visit we shared two of the huge bruschettas, one with tomatoes and the other with grilled shrimp. Both were nicely prepared and presented, but one would probably have been enough for two people to share as an appetizer. The pastas are uniformly al dente and well-sauced. The cacio e pepe is a standout, with a perfect balance of pasta, sauce, cheese and pepper. We also shared a very large serving of veal scallopini, which was beautifully prepared with three medallions of veal, a delicious mushroom and spinach sauce, with a few slices of potatoes. One of the medallions was a little tougher than the other two, but the dish was a great success anyway. Some nice wines by the glass at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Food better than expected for a fairly casual neighborhood restaurant; the space is pleasant with tables not too close together, staff very nice if not sommelier-level knowledgable. Delicious arancini, excellent ricotta (not potato) gnocchi, very interesting zucchini dish is the lightest 'pasta' entree ever, only the fritatta was average.
The food was fresh and delicious and the staff was more than willing to customize our meals to meet our needs (no meat, add meat, no sauce, etc.)
Had an excellent meal. Soppasetta pizza was great and full of flavor. Amitricana pasta was also excellent.
Tres Soldi is a comfortable place to enjoy a meal with business colleagues and be able to have a productive discussion.
Such a wonderful spot just close enough to the heart of the city without being too far into the hustle and hustle. Great place!
Tre Soldi is simply the BEST restaurant in Chicago! Every dish was not only beautifully presented, but OUTSTANDING. A true gem! We began with the artichoke appetizer and the mussels followed by the beet salad and a small plate of the ravioli, Veal Marsala and Halibut special. Each dish brought back memories of our time spent in Italy. We could tell that every dish was prepared with the freshest ingredients.
Excelent italian food
