Traxx Ratings and Reviews
Traxx is a piece of magic. It is not just the great food and fun service...but the setting of the Union Station is a very cool trick. Parking right there. The access all around to LA. The ambiance and sense of journey extend into the the exquisite menu which takes you through a delicious pallet to something you will enjoy. Fabulous.
weve been using Traxx as a fairly central lunch gathering place for over a decade (our server had been there 13 years)and it remains excellent--with seating in the Union Station terminal, in the restaurant, and in the outdoor waiting room, it is hard to imagine a more appropriate LA setting for lunch--food remains excellent and the service also
We enjoyed our meal last Saturday as we have other dinners at Traxx. The menu is good and food has always been tasty. Unfortunately, service was SLOW. We waited for our table and again to order our meal. Sometimes there are time constraints -- don't want to miss a curtain at the Music Center. This has occasionally been a problem.
Server was great at first. Then ignored us later. And that was after lunch crowd had already left. Both of us had to get back to our respective offices so it was a bit inconvenient when we couldn't get him to take care of the bill. But minor complaint. Traxx is great and I will return!
Traxx is a gem within a larger gem. Union Station is one of LA's most beautiful spots and Traxx has all the atmosphere of adventure and the liberating energy of leaving the familiar behind. Exceptional food and value and service. Also, nice wine selection. I had a Cabernet Franc and you don't always see that on the wine lists. In fact, this place is so nice that even though you're in a place of transit, you won't want to leave.
What a shame. This used to be a fabulous upscale destination. This was my mom's 92nd birthday brunch and they served square frozen hash browns. The omelet was dry as a bone and did not have the ingredients listed on the menu. They had ONE server for the ENTIRE restaurant. Nice guy but he couldn't handle it. Time for a new operator.
We had a terrific time. The food was really great. The patio outside romantic and lovely. The serving of the food was a little odd but ok. Our salads came out after we had our entrees! But we were with great friends and we just had a good laugh about it.
Fabulous drinks and lemon tart for dessert. I want to go again.
My wife and I have dined here on several occasions and have enjoyed our dining experience each time. The pan seared scallops are delicious as well as the sea bass. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who uses the metrolink to downtown Los Angeles and wants to dine before returning to their home.
We loved that it is in the train station. The brussels sprouts were unbelievably good, best I've ever had. The steak was just ok says my hubby. Fries were really good. The only down side is the restaurant and the bar are on opposite sides of the station in the from front so servers had to run food from the restaurant over to the bar and if you want a drink then they have to fetch it from over there so it's takes them away from being able to pay decent attention to their tables. Lots of waiting to put your order in or if you need something. Bar was packed but the restaurant was not.
We were VERY happy with the menu and couldn't believe the Very flavorful meals we ate there. Different and delicious. And dining in the beautiful and grand old Union Station downtown just added to our enjoyment. Great food, a beautiful setting... yes we loved it.
My husband and I haven't been back to Traxx in an age but we enjoyed it as much as the first time! I had planned dining there as part of an apology evening, so it did not disappoint. We had a scallops and mushroom appetizer and shared the steak frites. All of this was paired with glasses of Poema brut and a glass of red wine.
Traxx is an elegant place to people watch in the lobby of historic Union Station! I met my sister for lunch and enjoyed a table outside of the walls of the restaurant which was quiet as it was on a Saturday. The food was delicious! The caesar salad was perfect - quality ingredients with a unique and flavorful housemade dressing.
The service was fabulous, especially as there was a large party in the interior of the restaurant. All of the staff made sure that we were not forgotten! Thank you!
Food and service in the restaurant were great.
However, the bar tender Sunday around 12.45 pm was awful. There was a baby on the bar! He came to my table and asked me to order. I asked why the ABC rules were being violated. He replied because it was slow! I said it was a violation to have a child at the bar while the adult was sitting drinking a beer. I was the only other customer in the bar. He said "do you have a problem with it?" I said, yes because the law is being broken and the bar could be closed. He said I could leave and then went and got security! I ordered a diet coke (not my original drink choice). As I left two men exclaimed, there's a baby on the bar, someone should call the police.
I want Trax to succeed, but that bartender needs to go.
Atmosphere is always pleasant. Great for get togethers with friends and for special occasions. Our waiter, Tom, is the best. Always provides outstanding service, is professional, and personable. My favorite meal is the burger and fries! Fries are to die for!
This is an excellent and unique place allowing for for quiet conversation, or if you like, being among activity. The unique aspect is that Traxx is that it located in Los Angeles Union Station. Union Station is an elegant and large building built in the late 1930's. Surrounded by art deco Traxx ambiance is that of the 1930's.
My special event was a Daddy - Daughter date with my 13 year old. At Traxx we enjoyed quiet and meaningful conversation. We dined on Traxx patio. The other dining area option is in front of the restaurant. This is in the main area of Union Station. Dining in this area is where the Traxx patron especially experiences the ambiance of the 1930's, with the view of people in the hustle and bustle of entering and leaving the train platforms. In spite of the visible hustle and bustle, conversation is pleasantly accomplished as the restaurant is just far enough away from the coming and going of people. (LA metro brings plenty of activity to the train station.)
For an upscale restaurant prices are reasonable. The food is presented elegantly and is very good. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Realizing the significance of this Daddy daughter date he participated with us in appropriate waiter conversation and manner. He accommodated us with his willingness to take photos of us.
Excellent service with an equally excellent hostess. I like to think of it as dressy casual but they seem to have no problem with truly casual. Set in beautiful and historic Union Station this restaurant is one of a kind. The pork chop, served in the evening, is considered the best in the city. Modestly priced wine list with some very nice choices. Their soups are made on site and feature the very best fresh local produce. If you like American food with a continental touch this is the place for you.
