Fantastic food and personnel. Lots of veggie options too!
Love Trattoria-you feel like family! The service is warm and friendly. The food is delicious. The restaurant is small and feels inviting. Make reservations; you don’t want to miss this!
My boyfriend and I came to Taverniti to celebrate our anniversary. We were looking to have a traditional Italian home cooked meal and we were not disappointed. I got the Gnocchi Gorgonzola a perfect dish for a cheese lover and the best gnocchi I have ever had by far. My partner got the Spaghetti alla Carbonara which I tasted and also really enjoyed. As an Italian growing up with Italian cooking this place provides traditional Italian dishes with quality ingredients. The entire atmosphere reminded me of home. It seemed as though the whole family was there and at one point a tiny older lady came by and asked us how we were enjoying our meal which I thought was very nice and reminded me of my Nonna. The prices were also really good our bill (pasta dish plus a dessert) averaging to around $65 for both our meals together including tip. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re searching for a classic Italian dining experience. I’m happy to know I have this place around the corner from where I live for when I feel like nonna’s cooking!
Great food; lovely to meet the owner and reminded me of my Nona
service was slow; the servers were running off their feet.
Slow to offer drinks, extra napkins when offered and milk with coffee. Not intentional, simply too busy. Perhaps more servers needed.
Be advised they have no air conditioning so it is uncomfortably hot in the summer.
I completely fell in love with this place. Everything was perfect, even the tiny details like small Italian wine glasses. Will definitely return
This restaurant is amazing and tastes exactly like Nonna's cooking. The gnocchi was the best I have ever had and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys Italian cooking. Thank you Rosina and Domenic for the great dining experience.
Food was good. Small casual restaurant, very nice service.
My partner and I were staying in Little Italy for vacation. We happened upon this place after traveling from the U.S. Both of us are Italian and thought this was great. The only very small suggestion is to add more sauce to the Diavlo pizza. We also had arancini - superb. The Agnoletti was so amazing! And the rosė sauce was out of this world.
Some dishes were great, others were terrible. Would go again to try something different.
While the staff were very friendly, the food was mediocre at best - my main course had absolutely no flavour. Our guests loved their meals, but definitely not the best Italian I have had in this city.
Food was good but small portions. Loud and crowded so you need a reservation.
I organized my Italian boyfriend's birthday here with his brothers and we were not disappointed! Its a cozy place with amazing staff but aside from that, the food was spectacular! The best Italian I have ever had. I will recommend this place to everyone forever. Will definitely come back (a lot)!
Extremely authentic Italian restaurant. The interior reminds you of a family restaurant. The arancini was quiet expensive for three small pieces but the pasta and pizza were delicious.
Great place for authentic Italian homemade like meal.
Interesting ambiance and friendly staff.
Great value for money.
Will go again
Every meal that I've had here is amazing! Truly authentic, well-priced Italian food.
Our second visit was just as good as the first. Authentic Italian food. Yummm
I never got to eat as they told me I had never booked despite my confirmation from opentable
Great little spot, feels like you're in Italy! Food is fantastic and good portion sizes. Left stuffed.
Excellent pasta! Try the gnocchi! The desserts, wine, ambiance was fantastic.
Always such a pleasure to eat here. The pasta and pizza is as good as you can find. Friendly service, nice atmosphere in a small family restaurant.
This is one of our regular “go to “ places. Not super trendy just good home style cooking.
Trattoria Taverniti is one of our favourite Toronto restaurants. It is small and family run...the food is excellent and modestly priced. We take our family of 6 adults there and the bill is not over the top.....so we go again and again!! Tight seating but that is part of the ambiance.
A real neighborhood gem! Fantastic and authentic Italian food prepared by Domenic's mom. Always welcoming and always making sure you well taken care. The staff is very friendly and professional. This days is recommended to make a reservation. No doubt this Little Italy gem in the TO is one of the best authentic restaurants to enjoy the "home cook" flavors.
I’ve been to many Toronto Italian restaurants over many years.
I can’t believe how consistently great this place is. Scrumptious pasta and pizza, lovely little place, reasonable prices...Momma overseeing all.
What a treat!
Traditional homemade Italian food at its finest Great ambiance quaint little place Make a reservation
Amazing authentic Italian food! You must make a reservation! We watched lots of people walk in only to be told they were fully booked. The same owners also own another place called Rosita’s.
Returned to Trattoria Taverniti for a dinner for 2, after having been there with a large group and thinking the atmosphere looked inviting for conversation and great food. Wasn't disappointed! We both enjoyed our dinners -- super fresh pasta, great sauce, creative and delicious pizza and calamari. Will come back!
If you want Italian pasta in Toronto, you go here. That's it. Delicious. Authentic. Good service, reasonable prices, many dishes, good ambiance. Not fancy but just nice and good. I can't wait to go back.
One of the best family run Italian joints in the city. It's impossibly charming and the food is as fresh as can be. You can feel the love put into this place. I have ended many Sundays sharing a meal here and I will continue to.
We were going to a show at the Royal across the street and this was convenient. A little bit of a tight squeeze at a booth. Service was excellent. Food was good. We shared 2 pasta and a pizza between 4 of us. Pizza was the best. Gorgonzola gnocchi good but not great. Prices were reasonable. Balsamic with the oil was terrible.
I love College St., there are so many funky bars and restaurants, some of which unfortunately have a hard time drawing a steady clientele. Not so with Taverniti, they are always busy. Their pizzas are reminiscent of thin crust pizzas as made in Italy, and they will make a caccio e peppe for you if asked. Great place.
Very quaint and cozy but a little too noisy for the space available. Fantastic food! Highly recommend. Well worth the drive.
Excellent food and service. My only complaint is that I did not know there would be a fixed (and rather expensive) menu on Valentine's Day.
We were annoyed when we arrived to find that there was a set menu for our Valentine’s Day dinner. There was no mention of this ahead of time and so we were forced to spend more than we would have otherwise. This would have been fine had the food been amazing, however I found my bruschetta overly simple and my pasta bland. As well, the tables are very small and too close together such that we were basically in front of the door at a table that couldn’t even fit two place mats. I was disappointed with the overall experience and do not plan to return.
I wish I’d known about this place ages ago as it’s a total gem. Tucked away in a sea of restaurants in the heart of Little Italy it’s definitely worth a try. The food was exactly what I’d hoped for, simple Italian like you’d get at Grandma’s house. My only knock is that they were quite heavy with the salt, overall very good though. The service was great as well. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive with a relaxing, casual demeanour. The restaurant itself is tiny but cozy. Expect to have to squeeze your way past chairs go get anywhere and bump elbows with the table next to you. Pricing was very fair as well at under $100 for 2 people with wine, 3 appetizers, and a main each. All in all a great place and I’ll be going back. Be sure to make a reservation if you’re back planning on going as it fills up quickly.
We had a 4pm reservation upon arrival the cook wasn't there. We were seated and had to wait without any complimentary snack.
The food was fresh but not the best I had. The eggplant parmigiana was too salty.
The food was awful. Pasta was not well-cooked. They must have used a cheap bottle of tomato sauce from a market. I was so embarrassed to bring my friend over there. I do not understand how they received good reviews. The food just ruined my day. The waiter and waitress were friendly, though.
Ordered a couple of items with seafood...The seafood did not seem to be fresh and it tasted like it was frozen for a while.
Would not recommend.
I love Taverniti...As a College Street resident, I find it is the most authentic Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. It's all in the sauce, and this place does it, with Nonna's help. Also very nice homemade pasta and gnocchi. I recommend the house salad (shaved fennel and orange in spicy dressing) as a refreshing appetizer.
