I organized my Italian boyfriend's birthday here with his brothers and we were not disappointed! Its a cozy place with amazing staff but aside from that, the food was spectacular! The best Italian I have ever had. I will recommend this place to everyone forever. Will definitely come back (a lot)!
Extremely authentic Italian restaurant. The interior reminds you of a family restaurant. The arancini was quiet expensive for three small pieces but the pasta and pizza were delicious.
Great place for authentic Italian homemade like meal.
Interesting ambiance and friendly staff.
Great value for money.
Will go again
Every meal that I've had here is amazing! Truly authentic, well-priced Italian food.
Our second visit was just as good as the first. Authentic Italian food. Yummm
I never got to eat as they told me I had never booked despite my confirmation from opentable
Great little spot, feels like you're in Italy! Food is fantastic and good portion sizes. Left stuffed.
Excellent pasta! Try the gnocchi! The desserts, wine, ambiance was fantastic.
Always such a pleasure to eat here. The pasta and pizza is as good as you can find. Friendly service, nice atmosphere in a small family restaurant.
This is one of our regular “go to “ places. Not super trendy just good home style cooking.
Trattoria Taverniti is one of our favourite Toronto restaurants. It is small and family run...the food is excellent and modestly priced. We take our family of 6 adults there and the bill is not over the top.....so we go again and again!! Tight seating but that is part of the ambiance.
A real neighborhood gem! Fantastic and authentic Italian food prepared by Domenic's mom. Always welcoming and always making sure you well taken care. The staff is very friendly and professional. This days is recommended to make a reservation. No doubt this Little Italy gem in the TO is one of the best authentic restaurants to enjoy the "home cook" flavors.
I’ve been to many Toronto Italian restaurants over many years.
I can’t believe how consistently great this place is. Scrumptious pasta and pizza, lovely little place, reasonable prices...Momma overseeing all.
What a treat!
Traditional homemade Italian food at its finest Great ambiance quaint little place Make a reservation
Amazing authentic Italian food! You must make a reservation! We watched lots of people walk in only to be told they were fully booked. The same owners also own another place called Rosita’s.
Returned to Trattoria Taverniti for a dinner for 2, after having been there with a large group and thinking the atmosphere looked inviting for conversation and great food. Wasn't disappointed! We both enjoyed our dinners -- super fresh pasta, great sauce, creative and delicious pizza and calamari. Will come back!
If you want Italian pasta in Toronto, you go here. That's it. Delicious. Authentic. Good service, reasonable prices, many dishes, good ambiance. Not fancy but just nice and good. I can't wait to go back.
One of the best family run Italian joints in the city. It's impossibly charming and the food is as fresh as can be. You can feel the love put into this place. I have ended many Sundays sharing a meal here and I will continue to.
We were going to a show at the Royal across the street and this was convenient. A little bit of a tight squeeze at a booth. Service was excellent. Food was good. We shared 2 pasta and a pizza between 4 of us. Pizza was the best. Gorgonzola gnocchi good but not great. Prices were reasonable. Balsamic with the oil was terrible.
I love College St., there are so many funky bars and restaurants, some of which unfortunately have a hard time drawing a steady clientele. Not so with Taverniti, they are always busy. Their pizzas are reminiscent of thin crust pizzas as made in Italy, and they will make a caccio e peppe for you if asked. Great place.
Very quaint and cozy but a little too noisy for the space available. Fantastic food! Highly recommend. Well worth the drive.
Excellent food and service. My only complaint is that I did not know there would be a fixed (and rather expensive) menu on Valentine's Day.
We were annoyed when we arrived to find that there was a set menu for our Valentine’s Day dinner. There was no mention of this ahead of time and so we were forced to spend more than we would have otherwise. This would have been fine had the food been amazing, however I found my bruschetta overly simple and my pasta bland. As well, the tables are very small and too close together such that we were basically in front of the door at a table that couldn’t even fit two place mats. I was disappointed with the overall experience and do not plan to return.
I wish I’d known about this place ages ago as it’s a total gem. Tucked away in a sea of restaurants in the heart of Little Italy it’s definitely worth a try. The food was exactly what I’d hoped for, simple Italian like you’d get at Grandma’s house. My only knock is that they were quite heavy with the salt, overall very good though. The service was great as well. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive with a relaxing, casual demeanour. The restaurant itself is tiny but cozy. Expect to have to squeeze your way past chairs go get anywhere and bump elbows with the table next to you. Pricing was very fair as well at under $100 for 2 people with wine, 3 appetizers, and a main each. All in all a great place and I’ll be going back. Be sure to make a reservation if you’re back planning on going as it fills up quickly.
We had a 4pm reservation upon arrival the cook wasn't there. We were seated and had to wait without any complimentary snack.
The food was fresh but not the best I had. The eggplant parmigiana was too salty.
The food was awful. Pasta was not well-cooked. They must have used a cheap bottle of tomato sauce from a market. I was so embarrassed to bring my friend over there. I do not understand how they received good reviews. The food just ruined my day. The waiter and waitress were friendly, though.
Ordered a couple of items with seafood...The seafood did not seem to be fresh and it tasted like it was frozen for a while.
Would not recommend.
I love Taverniti...As a College Street resident, I find it is the most authentic Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. It's all in the sauce, and this place does it, with Nonna's help. Also very nice homemade pasta and gnocchi. I recommend the house salad (shaved fennel and orange in spicy dressing) as a refreshing appetizer.
Great location. A real authentic Italian restaurant. Excellent selections of pasta and pizza.
If you look for the food and not for the show-off, come to experience this place.
Trattoria Taverniti is a small, authentic style Italian Restaurant. Service is attentive, food is delicious, and to have Mama tour the restaurant and ask how your meal is...just like when we were in Italy!
Great ambiance, cozy, delicious food, feels like home. Love, love, love this restaurant!
$ of us all enjoyed our various pasta dishes with the gnocchi being the slim favourite. Bruschetta was excellent as was the tiramisu. Service was great. Very cramped quarters and it was a cold night so constant opening of door made the temperature uncomfortable.
Great neighbourhood restaurant with authentic, tasty Italian food. Family run, friendly, with great food. A nice combination.
We had a reservation , however the table was not ready and we had to wait more than 20 min. We were seated on a booth ( 4 people- not enough space, but ok )
The food: they run out of burrata cheese so we ordered caprese instead, with prosciutto aside- was ok; arugula salad- not fresh, supermarket look, a few parmigiana flakes, not enough dressing, the bread was good!, main meals: spaghetti carbonara- “ok, not fantastic, as we used to have in the past “, margherita pizza -ok”, chicken parmigiana was soaked in a bath of tomato sauce - tasted “ok”, eggplant parmigiana was served in a bath of tomato sauce, too salty, did not have any flavor ! Overall the food tasted like supermarket frozen food warmed up and served to the table!
The wine : a few choices of white and red, would suggest a larger selection of Italian wines from different regions of Italy, to complement the meals!
We did not have dessert.
This small family restaurant was on our favorite list, but our last experience was quite disappointing!
We will think twice before going back !!!!
Noted as Sister’s birthday on reservation, nothing acknowledged by restaurant.
Door to restaurant needs to be quick release and close. Was extremely cold and unpleasant to dine with cold air constantly being forced in from outside.
Misprint on menu in type of pasta not mentioned until dish delivered to table and we pointed out to the server.
Overall experience was actually disappointing and mediocre.
Absolutely amazing! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was suberb!
Best Pizza I have had in Toronto
Everything about our experience was absolutely amazing! The restaurant itself was so cute and authentic looking, and the women who started the restaurant came over to talk with us during our meal. We were visiting from the states, but all the locals knew the staff and it had a friendly family-like atmosphere. The food was to die for. I had the fettuccini with the mushrooms and my friend had gnocchi with a vodka sauce. Easily one of the best Italian meals I have had to date. Our waitress was also very accommodating as my friend is vegetarian and the vodka sauce usually is made with meat. She spoke with the chef, and they made it without the meat for her. Would most definitely recommend.
Excellent bolognese and cannelloni. Tasty appetizers. Recommend gorgonzola on toast with honey and beef carpaccio. Drinkable house white and red wine. Easy, approachable, great intimate meal to share with a loved one or friend. Get cozy, not a large restaurant.
Visiting Toronto from the US and was looking for good Italian food, well turned out we found a great place. I highly recommend this family run restaurant.
Love the food, especially the tomato sauce!
