Booked thru open table for opera nite ( website said first Sun of month) arrived on time sat right away at a small round table in a hallway like room next to main dining room. Rest was about 25% filled. Was told no opera today it's ever other month we should have called...no mention of change on website...told we have to call for opera nite..waiter dismissed our concern by saying " we are just a small family owned place" duh...more reason to update website!!
Noticed couples in main room where being seated on 4 tops. So I asked to be moved to the 4 next to us. Begrudgingly accomplished....
Food was "tired"...the mozzarella wrapped in prosuitto was Very "gassey" smelling so bad my companion could not eat them we switched my beet salad for the mozzarella...the cheese was not even hot just a lump of mozzarella wrapped in smelly prosuitto...couldn't finish...salad It was on top of was ok..brazzini was Good. Chicken was just ok. Asked for house made dessert ..was served a flan like custard that was so flavorless we did not finish....Very disappointed...
Wonderful experience! We love Sorrento for the food, service and atmosphere! Its always a great meal!!!
This was our first time. We were celebrating my son getting into law school. There were four of us including my 97 year old mother. They were incredibly kind and attentive. Our server and our host were restaurant family. The pacing was perfect for us - if you were in a hurry, you might have felt it was slow. We ordered the home made pasta and expected home made timing. The food was incredible. Do not pass on the beet salad - incredible. I ordered the crab cavatelli - out of this world. My wife ordered the veal ravioli - perfect. My son ordered the gnocchi - soft and pillowy. They introduced us to the matriarch after dinner - what classy and down to earth people. We felt like we were invited into their kitchen. Don't miss this place - we are going back with friends who really know food. Diner for four with a bottle of wine and five drinks and cappuccino was $200 - great value.
We attended for Valentine's Day.
It was crowded and the noise level was commensurately up, but not raucous. The food was interesting and the table wines were good. It may have been a bit overbooked fort he occasion, as the tables were tightly packed and the patrons at the nearby table were visibly irritated.
I would like to visit again.
No one came to us after being seated for at least 10 minutes. The place wasn’t more than 75% full. After taking our drink order, there was another long gap before taking our food order. The food took really long too and I think they forgot to put in our appetizers. Once the food came no one asked if we wanted parmesan cheese on the pasta like normal Italian restaurants do and no one asked if everything was ok. In the past I liked this place and was excited to show it to my girlfriend. I will not be returning.
Service was slow and staff were not attentive. Frustrating.
Perfect home food made ever. The taste of the love that been cooked with the food was amazing..highly recommanded. If you are visiting or staying here, you have to visit otherwise you missed the Italian spirit in America..
After enjoying a birthday dinner earlier in the month, our group of friends returned for another birthday celebration 2 weeks later and enjoyed everything once again. Congenial, attentive staff serving a wide variety of well priced Italian favorites plus creative specials in a cozy and comfortable setting. Yes, we'll be back soon!
Nice for an evening with friends.
One of my favorite restaurants in Bethesda! Great service! Great food!! What's not to like!
Friendly staff! Very slow service but delicious meal. I had homemade pasta and enjoyed every piece of my dish..it is kind of neighborhood Italian restaurant....
I would go back again. I prefer having white table clothes at a place like this vs wood table top....Ambiance would improve. Food was very good. Service was very good as well.
excellent family run Italian, a rare breed these days , particularly in Bethesda
Our family had a wonderful dinner last night enjoying excellent food, a warm atmosphere and excellent service.
We love this neighborhood place, and the food is always good. We are also regularly greeted by the owner Melina, who is always sweet, welcoming and ensuring we have everything to our liking. A great little quiet place to get a long holiday weekend started!
Excellent fresh homemade pasta is delicious! Great service.
Trattoria Sorrento is one of our favorite restaurants. The service is excellent especially if you have Miranda. They will accommodate you if it is possible, I have been their a number of times and they have done everything possible to make sure we are enjoying ourselves. The food is very good, as are the drinks. It is great for a date, special occasion, group event, or business dinner. It is my favorite family owned restaurant. I recommend them to all my friends.
The food was excellent and the service was very good.
Fantastic authentic Italian cuisine. Make a reservation. Can be quite busy at times.
As always, our meal was delicious. Melinda did a great job taking care of our group.
The service was extremely slow and server would serve others coming after us.
There was bug flying around on the dinner table.
No one would ask if we needed water refill.
They automatically charged 20% gratuity without asking us and even with the poor service.
Loved this place! I can't believe I have not discovered it before. It's hard to find a quiet restaurant where you're not on top of your fellow diners - and you can have a conversation without yelling... We loved the ambiance here and the food was delicious - and not overpriced. We will definitely be back.
Excellent fresh food in a charming low key atmosphere. A long time favorite.
Great food, service, ambiance. Very accommodating.
After almost two and a half hours of waiting for our food to arrive, we opted to just pay the bill and leave.
Based on prior reviews, I was expected a quiet restaurant with some good classic Italian food. we were instead met with a very loud and overly crowded restaurant. Our table edge was literally stabbing into the back of the gentleman next to us and every time he moved our entire table shook. Service was lacking to say the least. It took 10 minutes for us to be seated despite having a reservation as no one seemed to know it was their job to seat us. When our dinner was (finally) served, our fish sat there for 7-8 minutes with us begging someone to actually do the deboning they offered. We asked for Parmesan cheese which they promptly provided AFTER the meal was complete and the check was delivered. Overall the service was terrible and the food was pretty mediocre. I will not be going back.
We we were starting our weekend celebration for our second year wedding anniversary.
My business partner and I ate at Trattoria Sorrento on a recommendation from a local food source. Clearly she was correct. The hostess was gracious and especially knowledgeable. The specials were varied and made it hard to choose. Our entree selections and wine choices did not disappoint. Rather, they made for a memorable experience. We will be back.
Great dish’s , good service , nice people. I realize recommended this restaurant.
This restaurant is one of my absolute favorites! It's worth the $20 Uber ride from DC. Fabulous home made Italian fare and specialties. Great service. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly staff.
Service our night was brusque and inattentive (took over an hour to get our main course); would try again assuming just a bad night, but food was pedestrian (scallopini was tough, overcooked and bland).
Food was amazing, service impeccable, felt like family. We will be back!
This place is great. The food is very fresh and delicious. Really, you will not be disappointed.
Lovely, traditional southern Italian restaurant. Nice service until it got bisy, then had to flag for additional wine. Reasonably priced, delicious antipasto platter. Surprised to be charged for two desserts (that we hadn't ordered) to commemorate our two milestone birthdays, but we paid without calling attention to it since we were hosting family.
Very good food, attentive and knowledgable servers. Authentic Italian food. Very good value. I will be back.
We had a pleasant meal. My husband enjoyed his chicken parmigiana. My penne vodka was good but not great.
Fantastic food and great service. I would definitely go back.
Fantastic. Warm, friendly, and absolutely delicious
Tratorria Sarento was a great dining experience. The service was prompt and our server was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was excellent, I had an unusual Pesto dish with goat cheese that was delicious. It was a bit on the pricey side, but worth it.
Food was great. Service was outstanding. Definitely a contender for best Italian food in the MD suburbs. Looking forward to my next meal.
