Trattoria Romana Ratings and Reviews
I've dined at Trattoria Romano before, but this visit was a disappointment. We arrived on time for an early reservation. Restaurant was not full. Host led us past empty tables to probably the worst seat in the house. When I said we didn't want to sit there, he shrugged his shoulders and said that was only available table. I mentioned other tables and he said they were reserved. Well, pardon me, but we had a reservation too. Guess those people were more important than us. I was ready to leave - I'd rather spend my money where I'm welcome. He finally found us a hi-top table in the bar. I hate restaurants that play games. Left me with a bad taste in my mouth. No pun intended.
Always a great place to bring friends. Although the restaurant is busy and often quite noisy it is always a great meal. A little pricey but most accommodating. Portions are good size and you can share without a problem. Waitress was very good and made excellent recommendations. Our friends from NY were most impressed. Great choice
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with an Italian -style decor. Our waiter, Tony, was extremely knowledgeable (the recitation of specials is quite something). He was charming and attentive without overdoing it. The food was incredible! The mussels were out of this world-both quality and broth flavor. The homemade tiramisu is not to be missed! Just that alone is worth a visit to Trattoria Romana! Thank you for a lovely dining experience! AAAAA+++++
We went on Friday night to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had a great table. The food was wonderfully prepared and we had an outstanding wait staff. For dessert we had the red velvet cake. I have to say this cake put any other red velvet cake to shame. It was a beautiful red color , with the most sumptuous icing, and a slight flavor of ammoretta. To die for. Everything that came before the cake was also delicious. You won't be sorry you dinned here.but you may be if you don't .
Bartender was mediocre. He set up napkins next to me, practically in front of me and when I pushed them aside, he did it again. I was annoyed. The drinks are expensive and the service should be deserving of it. The bar needs updating and get rid of the lights underneath.
I brought my mother here for dinner to celebrate her birthday. We were seated in a nice quiet table in the back. The reservation was for 5:30 pm, early, and there was no wait. We were served bruschetta and breadsticks and ordered white wine ( by the glass).... I ordered the appetizer seafood salad as an entree, and asked that it be made larger than the appetizer version and with Castelvetrano Olives and extra radicchio. It was spectacular, mussels poached carefully, calamari rings, shrimp, very generous portions of perfectly prepared shellfish in a lemon, olive oil vinegret dressing. My mother had the lamb chops, mashed potatoes, broccholi, and raved. We will be back. Service was perfect. It did start getting pretty crowded and noisy by 6:30, so we’re glad to have early reservation.
The restaurant is always very busy Usually there is a wait for the table They have many areas for dining and unless they know you You will never get a table in the main front area We were 4 people and there were 4 open tables and they did not offer us one of them
They led us to a small cubby hole off the front
At a table stuck up against a wall with another table
Very close if there was a fire we couldn’t get out !!!
We asked if we could have a different table and they said NO They are all reserved With a nasty attitude
This is was the 4th time I have eaten here. Each time, it was very good.
A place I believed you can always get good food. Well, this time was not the case. I ordered the eggplant pie as an appetizer and it was terrible and cold... (totally changed the way they made it before. The my main course which was Branzino and it was drenched in butter and oil ... looked like it was sitting for a while
No only was my dish not goo but my husband and our guests were not happy.
Not cheap either, but when you want a good meal, It was worth it ...
I asked the waiter if there was a new chef and of course he said no
Don't think Ill be going back any time soon.
VERY disappointed. We showed up at 7 PM for our reservation and the hostess proceeded to seat us outside, in the cold on the patio (essentially in the street). She said it would be 30 minutes for an inside table! This was not acceptable.
After 10 minutes, I went inside and demanded we get an inside table. She understood, but I felt that no one was treated with much respect in that restaurant. After another 10 minutes, the hostess kindly came outside and led us to a table inside. However, as we approached this table, another man (maybe a manager goes "don't seat them there, they need to wait for this other table"). We then hovered awkwardly another minute for a different table.
All in all, the food was fine. But the restaurant could not have made us feel less special on our anniversary. No one seemed to care or treat us with much respect. After our third table, at least we got to eat. Very disappointing to say the least. It will be our last time there.
