Trattoria Romana Ratings and Reviews
This crowded so called upscale restaurant that has plenty of patrons, was an incredible disappointment. We made reservations 3 weeks in advance to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived, we were told we’d have to wait at least 20 min to be seated. We opted for outdoors. The first table we sat rocked like a ship during a storm. The next was next to a protective covering that hit the table every time a car went by. So with that start we ordered. We had two appetizers. The crab cake - just ok- and half order of linguini ala vongele blanco- worst I’ve ever eaten. My wife had veal Milanese and I had chicken scarpariello. Both bland and mediocre. Dessert was tiramisu with a lonely candle. Honestly, why people haunt this place amazes me. Give it a 2. So many better and less expensive in Boca.
We went to Trattoria for Thanksgiving - the food and the service was outstanding. We got lucky and had a table in a small private room. The Salumi and Cheese antipasto was excellent! My 7 year old daughter and one other guest had the turkey platter, which they said was delicious! The rest of the group had more traditional Italian - the veal chop was amazing and the Langostino was as sweet as could be. We hadn't been to Trattoria in a while and we are definitely adding it back to our regular rotation.
This restaurant does not acknowledge reservations made on Open Table. Three times this year I made reservations on Open Table and each time I was rebuffed at the desk and treated as if I had NO reservation. I was left standing at the entrance while they seated others who came in after me. Finally I was offered the worst Table in the House - by the entrance to the dining room where everyone who passed by either touched or kicked our chairs. This is in excusable in a restaurant at this price level. I finally learned my lesson. I will not be back. Honor the Open Table reservation or take your name off.
Our favorite local Italian restaurant.
Midweek prior to Thanksgiving, the restaurant was packed and crowded tables together. Only complaint was that we were on top of each other, and our closest 4 tables. No room for anything on a table for 4.
That said, Food was fantastic, fresh, well prepared and large portions. the veal dishes and ship are great.
Prices high as expected.
Our waiter was personable and accommodating.
This was recommended to us by a local patron since we were from out of town. The service was very sparce - waited 15 minutes to receive a menu. The food was not good - very salty, marsala sauce was missing the main ingredient. The Veal Piccata sauce was all butter with little flavor.
Very disappointing evening and meal.
What five star restaurant has a chef at the Antipasti Station in the main dining room wearing a Nike ball cap?
Trattoria Romana is one of the "must visit" Boca Raton restaurants but do not attempt it without a reservation! There is a pace that is fast and energetic without much of an option for quiet and romantic .The strength of the place is its menu and it's knowledgeable staff who will guide you thru an excellent menu and well represented wine list. What we find rather curious is that the excellent food and service are not burdened by outrageous prices. We have a special love of the Lobster Ravioli in a Vodka sauce preceded by the unforgettable Crab cake....The memories linger on ...Bravo!
Even though we had a 7:30 reservation, we had to wait about 25 minutes for our table to be ready. Several other parties were seated before us and it appeared as though they were given special priority. Our meal was delicious and the waiter was attentive but the beginning of our experience might prevent us from returning.
Originally from the Northeast, this restaurant had the authentic food , and ambiance
of a restaurant back "home". The waiter Bobby, was very knowledgeable of the wine list , and how the food was prepared , and gave us great suggestions. Cant wait to go back!!
